City manager reflects on the morning of the Fourth of July flooding in exclusive interview with Kerrville Daily Times By HAELEY CARPENTER/The Kerrville Daily Times Jul 8, 2025 Updated 22 hrs ago KERRVILLE — Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice left from his normal run by the river in Louise Hays Park at 4 a.m. Friday; an hour and a half later, he was back at the park with weather officials evacuating people from the flood. Many people have asked Rice if he saw any signs of the flood coming on his run, and he repeatedly has said that there was light rain but that no one could have anticipated this. “When you're running in Kerrville, you know where the water levels are,” Rice said. “They weren’t higher than they were under any other abnormal or normal circumstances.” https://lufkindailynews.com/news/community/city-manager-reflects-on-the-morning-of-the-fourth-of-july-flooding-in-exclusive-interview/article_d0e40ebc-e944-4580-b6b5-5e720997ab2a.html -

“That was an act of God,” Leavitt said. “It’s not the administration’s fault that the flood hit when it did. Head of local weather warnings takes early retirement as NOAA cuts continue Posted: Apr 21, 2025 / 11:33 AM CDT Updated: Jul 7, 2025 / 10:14 PM CDT The importance of experience in the WCM role cannot be overstated. Ensuring ample and timely warning to the Central Texas counties covered by NWS Austin/San Antonio is among the chief responsibilities. Yura’s final date of employment, April 30, comes just before severe weather season in Central Texas typically peaks in the month of May. As for a replacement to the WCM, the current hiring freeze, as mentioned by Yura in his message, may make filling that role more challenging. Staffing at NWS Austin/San Antonio According to the NWS Austin/San Antonio website, the office is already short two meteorologist positions currently listed as vacant. The positions of ‘lead meteorologist’ and ‘meteorologist’ remain open. Separately, NWS Austin/San Antonio have a vacant ‘electronics technician’ position. https://www.kxan.com/weather/weather-blog/head-of-local-weather-warnings-takes-early-retirement-as-noaa-cuts-continue/ -

REUTERS Updated on: July 7, 2025 -- During a July 4 press conference, Nim Kidd, the chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, said the forecast his office received on Wednesday in advance of the storm predicted several inches of rain, but that "the amount of rain that fell at this specific location was never in any of those forecast." Kerrville city manager Dalton Rice reiterated that sentiment in the same press conference, saying the storms that hit the areas "dumped more rain than what was forecasted." The afternoon before the disaster struck, the National Weather Service office in Austin/San Antonio issued a flood watch on July 3 at 1:18 p.m. CT that included Kerrville. The alert stated: "Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with isolated amounts of 5 to 7 inches are possible." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-floods-emergency-alerts-weather-forecast-staffing-budget/ -
From ABC link above: Leavitt was asked on Monday why the warnings were sent at a time when people were likely asleep and what, if anything, the administration is doing to ensure that these alerts come out sooner in the future. "This was an act of God, it is not the administration's fault that the flood hit when it did but there were early and consistent warnings," Leavitt said. "And again, the National Weather Service did its job." ____________________________ Camp Mystic was at a particular disadvantage due to its location near the headwaters of the Guadalupe, reducing the warning period for evacuation. The tragedy has already raised questions about whether more could have been done to raise the alarm and prompt evacuations. The National Weather Service, which had previously issued a flash flood watch for the area, issued a flash flood warning at 1:14 a.m. on Friday, triggering cell phone alerts urgently warning of life-threatening danger. However, the rural area is known for spotty cell service, and Camp Mystic did not allow campers to keep cell phones in their cabins. By 4 a.m., devastating floodwaters filled with floating debris were already ripping through Camp Mystic, sending campers and counselors fleeing for their lives. According to KXAN, county officials didn’t issue warnings until four hours after the NWS alerts, at 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. By that time, the floodwaters had already claimed scores of lives. https://www.realtor.com/news/real-estate-news/map-texas-girls-camp-mystic-flood-zone/

Thank you Ms. Leavitt. The key staffing position vacated by 30-year employee Paul Yura who was the warning coordination meteorologist -- which is a formal US Code job description as below -- was still vacant following his retirement in April. 15 USC 8545: Warning coordination meteorologists at weather forecast offices of National Weather Service Text contains those laws in effect on July 6, 2025 (b) Primary role of warning coordination meteorologists The primary role of the warning coordination meteorologist shall be to carry out the responsibilities required by this section. (POTUS Trump took questions at NJ airport before returning to WashDC): Asked later on if he had plans to look into whether the cuts at the National Weather Service and the Federal Emergency Management Agency left key positions vacant, Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick shook their heads. “They didn’t,” Trump said. “I’ll tell you: You look at that water situation, that was really the Biden setup. That was not our setup. But I wouldn’t blame Biden for it either; I would just say this is a hundred-year catastrophe, and it’s just so horrible to watch.” https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-pretends-not-hear-difficult-010750055.html

Of course they say that. Using dead children to attack Trump beofe the bodies are found. Dancing on the dead children. NO just aa satisfied policy holder with 2 claims paid and a backup plan in case they do some of the bunko things you have suggested over the past year that they might do. And I had some exposure to reinsurance markets, so I have a reasonable idea how they function and as in why Nevis which some say to make it harder to contest a claim. When it comes to claims being denied on here and online reviews I think of this: -

I didn't miss it when you wrote about it 2 years ago: On 10/22/2024 at 9:18 AM, JBChiangRai said: -- My friend Charlie Badenhop posted about them on AN, he had a claim issue, he also wrote about his experience on Trustpilot. -- yes and he received a reply. https://aseannow.com/topic/1312262-wrlife-still-ok/page/2/ -
Sorry to hear the above. Camp Mystic was so popular there was a waiting list to get your daughter in: For campers that are on the waiting list, the deposit is fully refundable at any time. We encourage families to apply early for future summers as campers are accepted based on their original application date. https://www.campmystic.com/camper-applicationv3/

Head of local weather warnings takes early retirement as NOAA cuts continue Updated: Apr 21, 2025 / 09:02 PM CDT AUSTIN (KXAN) — Paul Yura, the warning coordination meteorologist at the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio office, has announced he has taken the early retirement offer as part of NOAA’s recent cuts to personnel and budget. Yura has over 32 years experience, spending more than half of his career at the NWS Austin/San Antonio office. In the process, he gained tremendous experience understanding local weather patterns while ensuring timely warnings get disseminated to the public in a multitude of ways. The warning coordination meteorologist (WCM) is a senior role at a local NWS office. According to NOAA, “The WCM coordinates the warning function of the office with the outside world. This would include heading the Skywarn Program, conducting spotter training and being a voice to the local media for the office.” As for a replacement to the WCM, the current hiring freeze, as mentioned by Yura in his message, may make filling that role more challenging. https://www.kxan.com/weather/weather-blog/head-of-local-weather-warnings-takes-early-retirement-as-noaa-cuts-continue/

Trustpilot is a source but not the only source. As in: Did you read the 1* reviews on trustpilot? Yes. Thank you. As for those persons on this website who have submitted a claim to WrLife, I have yet to read of claim denied. -
Well that may turn up as a legal issue in short order. Also this: Kerrville didn’t have weather sirens used by other cities Posted: Jul 5, 2025 / 07:55 PM CDT “The tragic events at Camp Mystic and the devastating flooding along the Guadalupe River that happened in July are stark reminders that severe weather can strike with little notice,” Wilson wrote. “A well-placed siren system will provide critical extra minutes for families, schools, camps, businesses, and visitors to seek shelter and evacuate when needed. This is not just a wish – it is a necessary investment in public safety.” https://www.kxan.com/investigations/kerrville-didnt-have-weather-sirens-used-by-other-cities/
