  1. He has been watching Trump to get lessons on how to shoot one in the foot
  2. Name the university!. My partner plans to send her son to a university in Nonthaburi next year so we need to know to avoid what is an obviously incompetent university management
  3. Pretty stupid money lenders, if he was killed then no chance of money being repaid, unless of course they then turn on his family. Simple rule - dont borrow and dont lend
  4. BBL saving account only. BBL sends me a SMS on every transaction on my account, even when they take a monthly fee of B30 from my account. In addition there is a B50k limit on ATM transactions without a phone call to BBL. They do not allow international payments. for example via Paypal unless I personally phone the bank and speak to their call centre to allow the payment to proceed (usually within 2 hours) - periodically. annually, required for my laptop security firewall. I only use a Debit card - no credit card and certainly no mobile app. Not sure about other banks.
  5. Well said spidermike007, I agree fully
  6. Name and shame the aggressive tailor so all can avoid that shop. I purchased from a a tailor shop run by a person from a country east of Thailand across the sea once only, never again as their natural inclination is well known, starts with ch--ting
  7. Dont bring brass knuckles or a baseball to a gun fight
  8. Have people considered the impact on foreign funds being used to support 'girl friends', wives and perhaps children in Thailand from a farang. If say a farang sends B30k per month to Thailand from abroad then the Thai referred to above could be up for tax on the foreign income. By rough reckoning that could see the Thai recipient up for tax, depending on age etc, for up to B7.5k per year. So not only the expat up for tax but the Thai foreign income recipient. Some of those Thais would have never been registered for tax (no TIN) or ever paid tax. How will the Revenue Dept treat this income?
  9. Try acupuncture as an option. I had a pinched nerve in my lower back that was giving me considerable pain down my right leg. Try 7-8 treatments, I did and the pain went away and has never come back. Try for a acupuncturist who has been trained in China. Not expensive, perhaps 500-1000 per visit and better than surgery.
  10. Try no margarine, it is a poison, use extra virgin olive oil on sandwiches and toast and salads. a tablespoon of olive oil daily will bring down bad cholesterol. Statins can make the old fellow not work so well, I tried with old fellow less willing to work, so stopped right away then back to normal. Agree with comments above re fish oil or oily fish
  11. One can get ABC Asia on True Visions, usually live show 4-5 matches per week, But no all condos connected to True Visons on cable. I checked before I rented my current condo, True office can tell you whether your condo is connected to True. (ask at least 3 times to be sure), I have a friend in Suk 32,, he can get True but his True package does not include ABC Asia. If I could not get ABC Asia at my unit I would go elsewhere.
  12. Any car with a Thai number plate will be stopped by Laos police and have to pay a bribe, almost standard
  13. There is plenty of Ovaltine available in Australia, maybe not enough heroin
  14. My work permit was cancelled about 5 years back as retired. No need to tell the banks anything. Even when obtained a renewal of passport with new number I advised the banks of new passport number. No questions were asked about visa status, so recommend keep silent. I have bank accounts with BBL and KBank
  15. I tried online just last week and submitted and got a message to update my TM30 after waiting 4 days, updated the TM30 with my landlord immediately and then nothing. The landlord advised he had received the same request from other tenants. So submitted via an agent, again as time was running short.
  16. Lithium prices have dived by up to 80% in recent times. A large mine in Australia has just shut down and another project making Lithium Hydroxide has ceased expansion in Western Australia, which is the largest producer of lithium minerals. It would take a miracle for this project to advance given a lack of attractive mining rules in Thailand. It is not just the mining but the processing of lithium ores into materials such as lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate used in electric batteries.
  17. Chlorine based bleach is made by bubbling chlorine gas into caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) solution and is sold by Haifer in light blueish green bottles, cheap as anything. Note on the bottle says should be used for white clothes only, The pink one is for coloured clothes so useless for mould. Take care as if reacted with acidic solutions will give off chlorine gas. The strenght depends on percentage of chlorine gas used in the manufacturing process.
  18. It appears when doing a 90 day report online that it failed as requested/demanded an updated TM30 without specifying if updated what to do with the updated TM30. The landlord advised when requested that there have been many requests to them for updated TM30
  19. I went to Phuket once over 20 years ago and would never go again. Why - because of the taxi mafia, no doubt controlled by a cabal with taxi owners, local authorities and the infamous what they call police. No one so far has had the balls to get this under control. I know personally of expats and Thais who will never go to Phuket again, because of the taxi mafia which leaves a rotten taste from arrival to departure.
