Welcome to Malaysia -- wear a Swatch watch go to jail
Callmeishmael replied to Jingthing's topic in Gay People in Thailand
I always try to respect other's beliefs, now matter how stupid they are. But this is really pushing the limit. -

Big Joke knows how to deal with these hooligans: Just double the income requirements for retirement visas! That will obviously weed out the undesirables! ????- 114 replies

Pheu Thai breaking with Move Forward to form its own coalition
Callmeishmael replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It will be interesting to see who is in the 'new' coalition. PT + BMJ + the little parties from the old coalition still only add up to about 225 votes. Even if the Senate votes for Sretta they still need more votes to have a majority in Parliament. I expect that PPP will join them with another 40 votes. -
Pheu Thai breaking with Move Forward to form its own coalition

I don't think that Thaksin is being wily, I think that he is just desperate enough to come home that he will destroy the PT party just to achieve his own ends. -
Here is the person from the OP. If I hadn't been told differently, I'd say that they's a she. Of course, in Thailand there are a lot of he's that look like she's!

Those of us who were here when Taksin was PM should remember his MO quite well. He frequently made announcements that sounded serious, but never came true. This was just his way of floating an idea to see what the reaction was. If people liked it, it would happen in some form or another, but if it was not popular, it simply disappeared. The August 10 announcement was just a fishing expedition to get a response from the PTB.

Rickets. Occasionally I see older people with severely bowed legs. It could be osteoporosis, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was rickets from avoiding the sun when they were young.

Libraries and research in Thailand
Callmeishmael replied to rsskga's topic in Higher Education in Thailand
The Nielson Hayes Library is probably one of the best in Thailand, at least for English language books. https://neilsonhayslibrary.org/ As you are a student at Chula, you should be able to use the libraries there: https://www.car.chula.ac.th/ Also, the FCC doesn't seem to have a library, but they do have a good bookstore. My wife used to go to the National Library of Thailand when she visited her grandparents in Bangkok. I don't know if they have any English books though. https://www.nlt.go.th/ -

This is the opportunity that PT has been waiting for. After shedding a few crocodile tears they will form a new coalition. I bet it will be PT + BJT + PPP and maybe Prayuth's party, though just those first 3 will give them a slim majority in Parliament. -

I may be wrong, so maybe someone can correct this, but I believe that shares in a company that has been delisted (no longer traded on the stock market) cannot be traded or sold. He can give someone the shares, but until the transaction is officially recorded, he is still considered to be the legal owner. -
You can get a license, but there are conditions. Here is a quote from the Kurusapa (Teachers Council of Thailand): 1. Not younger than 20 years of age 2. Have academic qualifications in one of the following: (a) Have a degree in education or its equivalent (b) Have a degree in another field and a teaching license from another country (c) Have a degree in another field and a graduate diploma in teaching profession with 1 year of course study (d) Have a degree in another field and have passed other professional certification in accordance with the professional standards of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand 3. Have continuing experience in teaching of not less than 1 year 4. Have a Thai work permit 5. Have evidence showing that an applicant has been permitted to stay in Thailand 6. Not possess any of the prohibited characteristics pursuant to section 44 of the Teachers and Educational Personnel Council Act B.E. 2003 • Having improper behavior or immorality • Being an incompetent or quasi-incompetent person • Having been sentenced to imprisonment in any case, in the opinion of the Teachers Council of Thailand, which may bring dishonor upon the profession. http://site.ksp.or.th/home.php?site=englishsite If I am interpreting this correctly, you need to work legally in a Thai school for one calendar year before you can apply for a permanent license. You will also need a recommendation from your Department Head and maybe your school director. With an MEd you shouldn't have any trouble getting a waiver for that first year.

Bangkok to start using AI in management of traffic flow
Callmeishmael replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
If the traffic police have an override button it will never work. They will be trying to do the exact opposite of the AI's logical recommendations. -
One of those 158 special needs school is next door to my school. The students there are severely developmentally disabled, some cannot even speak. Obviously parents of children with mild autism or adhd won't send them to a school like this. Unfortunately, regular school are not equipped to handle the special needs students who are otherwise able to attend regular classes. Instead of having counselors or special needs teachers at regular schools, they simply drug the kids until they are too sleepy to function or else let them run amok in class!

The CHD620 is a Deutz design made in China. As long as the factory can meet the original specifications it should be the same as the German engine. Of course, the real problem is not where the engine was made, it's why Thailand needs a sub at all.
