American Tourist Involved in Car Crash Injures Man in Pattaya
Gottfrid replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Yeah, that video is showing the Thai driver just not looking and driving far to close to the car pulling out very very slow, leaving much room and time for adjusting instead of just continue straight. The Thai driver was probably more interested in something else instead of the road. On the other hand, I actually also get annoyed at all that are trying to pull out in front of me and people that are turning crossing the street as they always have to pull little bit and little bit more until they finally can close a lane and come over that way instead of just stand still and wait until the road is clear. -

Yeah, but we know that already. They don´t need to hear, as he is automatically at fault for having the wrong nationality. 😉 -

Yeah, I got it wrong first, but your solution sounds like a workable one. As well as mine do, with reporting the issue. However, that might be too much in this case. They should be a little bit more open to looking and solving the problem, though. -
Russian Tourist Drowns Ignoring Warnings at Surin Beach, Phuket
Gottfrid replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
It would be an option, but in that case I guess they will have to change the law. Today it´s a warning sign with no attachment to the law. Just a recommendation. What I was thinking, was that a lifeguard should have so much common sense so they actually try to stop or hinder a person. They are there to help. Not to pick up dead bodies from water. 🙂 -

Ok, that´s horrible, so you have no chance of getting to an office and give then a printout of the payment in your bank. I know, you should not need thta, but it might help you. This is even more horrible! I would report them, even if it´s just 300 baht we are talking about. It´s the value of the service and also the way of blocking you as well as giving no service to solve the problem. -

Pay what? Was not the food you ordered and paid for delivered to you? If they deliver the food, it´s paid for, otherwise it´s not possible to order. The system will not send the order to the restaurant if not paid. Unless you opt for pay at delivery, but then the delivery guy will either not give you the foo or beat you up if you not pay. -
Match madness: Football fans ignite flares, burn car at Bangkok uni
Gottfrid replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
It´s just terrible, that people can´t go see a football match without violence. However, not anything exclusive to Thailand, as the whole world has it´s fair share. Just very idiotic. Also, they believe it´s patriotic team spirit to behave like this. They should fell ashamed. On the side, how can it be allowed to drive a car without an insurance? That is also baffling! However, I assume the guy have insurance for other people and cars, but not full that includes his own car as well. That´s stupid. Especially as it is his livelihood, as he expressed. -
Toddler's Vaping Sparks Outrage in Saraburi

100 % right. No, will not attack on anything because, my post you replied to, of course went too far in a civil society. Unfortunately, this is as far for civil we can come. And this is not really the families fault. Of course it would be nice if people all by themselves could have some common sense and critical thinking. However, that is not the fact. The worst things are that the authorities nor the education system has any knowledge nor tools to deal with severe problems of this kind. They just don´t know how to do. -
Any change to TM30 situation?
Gottfrid replied to steve0101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No nothing much have changed. Still a lot of rouge offices that do like they what. Besides that, they usually, my own experience and word from some friends, not so hard on the 24h rule. Have made it myself 2 days after and smiles al around. However, depends on the office, officer and the mood of the day. Same like getting married in Thailand 😉 -

Russian Tourist Drowns Ignoring Warnings at Surin Beach, Phuket
Gottfrid replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
That´s great! Why not stop him from entering, as is was red flags there? As they kept a "vigilant eye" on the situation, it looks like they just let him go on. Besides that, not see or ignore red flags? Yeah, I can only say red flags are there for a reason. Apostolov choosed to ignore that, which slightly changed his name. Now he is a apostle for others trying to be same stupid. -

Yeah, probably same as other truck drivers. They honk the horn and flash their light, but never look or break. They believe signals make them the king of the road and everyone jump away. -

Thailand Poised to Make History with Marriage Equality Bill
Gottfrid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Even as it is a very positive thing, I have a hard time deciding if a fact like this is positive or negative. Is being first with something that is 20-30 years old in other parts of the world positive, or is it just a duty for the countries in the Asian block? From my side, it´s seen as a duty! -
Thailand Tourism Industry Slumps: Urgent Reforms Needed
Gottfrid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The expat community has such a small percentage of the finances in this case, so it´s just absurd to mention it. What they must concentrate on is to understand and assess the situation. We can start with, not putting all the eggs in one basket. The concentration of the country´s money flow is far too much concentrated on tourism. If we look at history, that will reveal many different countries which have been extremely popular tourist destination for many year. However, at a certain time, just to be taken over by other destinations. Today, the situation and the tourism landscape are telling a story of a change in popularity to countries with lesser development than Thailand. Today Thailand is focusing too much on making it hard for people to stay in the country, and far too many rules and regulations as well as a higher focus on foreigner causing problem than their own citizens. Often used in media to blow up the proportions. Tourism is shifting to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos as well as a few other countries gaining popularity among the ones who before had Thailand as their favorite destination. What Thailand is missing, is that they still have all the eggs in the same basket. They must realize they are losing the battle in popularity as a tourism destination, mostly based on stupid decisions and fraud, complexity and double pricing against foreigners. Now it´s already high time to change the rules and focus, which might give back some position they lost, or simply focus on other ways of supporting the country and it´s population. -

No, they found no link, as there aren´t any. They could have asked us here on AN, instead of paying a fortune for something that has already been researched to death. -
