  1. Thai partner and I both applied for and got China visas in BKK. We did not have any flights booked at the time so obviously no tkts.

Nor did we even attend the China visa office; we sent a company driver and he suceessfully got all.

If that was the case then money did change hands. I was told by my agent of 10 years that they could no longer apply for the visa on my behalf and that everyone has to apply in person. How long ago was this?

It's always been possible to send someone else i.e. an "agent" that is entrusted on your behalf, but that person could be anyone, i.e. a family member of friend. There is no need to go yourself and if you are working in an office, it would be ridiculous to have to ask for leave from work just to submit a visa application. However, quite obviously you don't have to. No idea why a legitimate agent wouldn't be willing to help, but I am certain persons that are not applicants can entrust others to submit their applications on their behalf.

This is what I was told by my legitimate agent. They had previously obtained visas for me on a regular basis, but said the rules had changed. I also add that it is ridiculous that when applying for a single entry tourist visa that I should have to Present my wife's Tabien Baan and ID card. I had also to provided air tickets, hotel reservations, proof of money in the bank and proof of medical insurance. On the day of application there were many people rejected for tourist visa's I knew this by conversations and also out and out rowing with the counter staff. This was around 2 years ago and as I have previously mentioned I now apply via a second passport through the UK. I have two old passports that are full of Chinese visas that I have accrued during my time in Bangkok, so there has been a change in policy in my opinion.

  3. This makes no sense at all. I am watching the game live and there is no flicker or lag. Pat I also live in Pattaya so location is not the problem. Go and see the installers to get them to check it out. I understand its a real pisser when you dont get what you pay for. Good luck mate.

  4. Always seems to be me doesn't.

Rick - Appreciate your suggesstion but you make it all sound so easy...it's far from easy.

Pat I understand what you mean, but what are the other options. They have basically sold you a system that is not working properly. Most people on here don't have the problems that you have, so it might be a faulty installation or parts. Chuck it back at the installers, you have nothing to lose.

  5. I am watching Sky news on CTH at the moment. No problem.

What you mean is that you are watching replay after replay with a few adverts thrown in ! or are CTH different to all others who show Sky News

All new channels repeat even Sky news. The do seem to update more than CNN though, so I find it very watch able. Yes there are a few ads thrown in.

  6. From the AA in the UK.

An AA spokesperson told us: "Some people mistakenly refer to International Driving Permits (IDP) as 'international driving licences'. However, there is no such thing as an international driving licence – they are not legally recognised – so don’t be fooled into buying one, as they are not worth the paper they are printed on.

carwheel.JPG"An IDP, on the other hand, is required or recommended in 140 countries and is recognised internationally – they are issued in accordance with Road Traffic Conventions, which stipulate that they can only be issued by motoring organisations or motoring authorities."

  7. Not trying to hijack the thread just making a point. As most games are provided by overseas servers it is not always easy to get a good stream, maybe because of stability?

I think that CTH is a good value for money option for watching the EPL.

  8. Broadcast/cable TV is so last century...the internet and its streaming and torrent downloading is the only way to go.

Only for those with a fast Internet connection, which in Thailand is about as rare as rocking horse shit.

Anywhere in Pattaya, including way out on the Darkside, super fast broadband service is available for less than B 1k per month.

In my experience its super fast within Thailand and very average internationally. Try a speed check against a foreign server.

  9. Thanks Bangkokrick, will give that a go.

This was posted on their Facebook site today. Maybe you could try contacting them this way.

  10. I agree with Stoneyboy on this one. I would not have considered CTH if it had not been for the EPL coverage and to be fair they promised all the EPL games with English commentary and they have provided just that.

I personally also like Sky News, Ci, NGA, NGW and some of the movie channels, so happy with the service overall. Luckily I have had no technical issues up to now, but I am aware that others have not had a good experience.

  13. Any updates on this. I thought the court case was on the 2nd September?

The date is memorable for the fact the Red Bull heir once again failed to show up in court.

It is for that reason, but this was in the Phuket newspaper report.

The next hearing in the case will be on Monday (September 2) when Mr Longfellow’s girlfriend, Mina Khaisong – who was at the hearing today – is expected to give evidence. She was present when the stabbing took place.
