Signs of improving COVID-19 situation in Thailand
GStewart70 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You don't have to wait. If your so keen to get back to your beloved Thailand you can do the Phuket litter box or look at 4 walls in a Bangkok hotel. Why would you wait? Oh, wait a minute, you don't want to be frog marched to hospital for 2 weeks if you or anyone close to you on a plane fails a PCR test on arrival? If your waiting to roll off the plane whistling dixie, scoot along to immigration, get a 30 day visa stamp and jump in a taxi to Soi Cowboy, your going to be waiting for a very long time. -

No gigs in town until 2050 and the GoFundMe racket has been flogged raw. Now it's an autobiography best used as andrex. -
What you have printed above would most likely break the human rights laws of most countries. Thought last week Thai scientists were saying we had to learn to live with the virus? Yet, posters earlier in the thread were working themselves into a psychotic frenzy, salivating at the prospect of a quick return to 'normality'. Their bars reopening, packed to the rafters and the immigration hall at BKK rammed full of cash rich tourists. They are dreaming.

No one posts anymore because you just want to pick a fight. I'll let you get back to talking to yourself.

That's what i meant. Restrictions. 14 day quarantine etc. Most importantly the risk of getting carted off to hospital if you or someone sitting near you on the plane even tests positive.
-
The most important thing, for numbers, is the restrictions entering Thailand. Many people think it will be back to the good old days of a 30 day exemption stamp at BBK. If Thailand are implementing restrictions on restaurants, the border control hastles are still going to be onorous going forward.

Is the closure of your favorite bar or restaurant imminent?

As far as i am aware, Retox had a number of partners with businesses in the UK. I think one had a heavy plant business doing airport runway surfacing etc. To be honest i just think they took the view, why keep a business a float when nobody knows the visibility of earnings going forward. Everyone knows Pattaya demographics are changing. I used to have brunch in Jasmin's on Pattaya Klang every morning. Knew the French boyfriend/ husband pretty well. He said 6 years ago it would have been 90% farang/10% asian, now it's reversed. Young, trendy, asian small groups and families. I think Retox's owners made an astute commercial decision. If they want another hobby, they can buy another bar if/when normality returns. -
The west wouldn't have anything to deal with if it wasn't for your CCP comrades. You also believe everything China state media feeds you. Also deflected a simple question about why the WHO scientists aren't allowed into the Wuhan labs. The only agenda is from China and it's propaganda foot soldiers, like you, posting on this forum.

Another fictional, self pitying and deluded rewriting of history. After reading the goading, baiting, childish troll posts put out by your chum, we now are fed this garbage. The UK had a vaccine procurement czar who went out and proactively bought vaccines . Their was an element of risk involved, because the UK did not know if the vaccines would be successful. Luckily, they were and therefore the UK government secured vaxcines as soon as they came to market. What did Thailand do? Didn't bother risking a dime booking vaccines early. Refused India's offer of free AZ. Didn't bother joining COVAX because it was beneath their dignity. Ordered some submarines instead. Thailand was going to try and get a BOGOF special when the world was awash with vaccines. Do you really believe that vaccines could not have been procured early, if a tiny fraction of Thailand's richest 1% wealth had been deployed? Don't blame western governments for Thailand's cheap charlie dereliction of duty to it's citizens.

What a ridiculous post. I thought many farangs, bar owners etc, where helping feed the Thai people in Pattaya. A lot of those farang businesses won't even be getting any rent relief from their Thai landlords. Thai government has done nothing for many of it's citizens. Yes, they maybe the grey area of employment, but even so it seems foreigners have been the only ones to step up to the mark. Why single out UK nationals? Why not direct your considerable bitterness and anger at the Thai government. British expats didn't 'cheap charlie' vaccine procurement and roll out.

There are people with money to burn, or launder, all over the world. The warehouse club, on soi bukahow, is going to have a state of the art lighting rig allegedly worth millions of baht. Look at the new beach club at treetown. Personally, i think this pandemic, and it's restrictions on global travel, are going to mean Pattaya is a long way from any sort of recovery.

I traveled for work and leisure all over Europe and the US during my self employed life as well. It's called a work life balance. Feeling financially secure and free of money worries gives you many options in life. You worry about your own life noodles, because i'm alright thanks. Hope everything works out for you the way your hoping.

Yeah, the bitterness of someone who retired at 51, owns 2 properties, a stocks and shares portfolio, pension, other assets etc. The bitterness of someone who has traveled to Bangkok, Chang Mai, Roi Et, Koh Chang, Koh Samui, Koh Phanghan, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Pranburi, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Danang, Hue etc. The bitterness of someone who never has to worry where the next dime is coming from. I'm bitter, bitter, bitter.

I think he was pointing out he didn't have the money to do it. Just because you had a silver spoon in your mouth doesn't mean times have changed. It just means people actually have to work to be able to afford to travel not ask for a bank transfer from the family trust fund. Maybe you should get a clue and show some respect to be people that are not only older but a lot wiser.
