  1. I certainly would not want to contradict that, although I am one of the lucky few who has had a wife provide a house, land and farm. I cover day to day expenses and pay what few household bills there are............ I right all that off (in my mind) as being much less than if I had to rent or buy somewhere and look after myself.
  2. Looks like she is full of something......🤢
  3. Even the flat Earthers?.......that would cause some serious panic.....555
  4. Would have made a better story if she'd made the full 18.
  5. Wade out till you're waist deep maybe?
  6. I hear you brother. You might want to read up on existential boredom.....potentially more concerning than what you might think of as simply boredom!
  7. It is not the odour dissipating, it is the actual ammonia!!
  8. Even as a non-smoker I can see why many would become quite incensed over this......especially when you consider there are so many other things that have a real and serious impact on tourists lives. (However, I have to confess I quiet like secondhand smoke).
  9. Yes, many Inuit people died as a result of contact with white settlers and explorers, primarily due to disease, but also from violence and colonial policies — including gun-related killings. 🦠 1. Disease Was the Main Killer Like many Indigenous peoples, the Inuit had no immunity to many infectious diseases introduced by Europeans and Americans. The following diseases were especially devastating: 🔹 Measles Caused major mortality in Inuit communities with no prior exposure. Outbreaks swept through settlements quickly, sometimes killing entire families or villages. 🔹 Influenza The 1918 Spanish flu was catastrophic: In some Alaskan Inuit villages, over 50% of the population died In some communities, entire villages were wiped out, leaving only orphans 🔹 Tuberculosis TB was one of the most persistent killers of Inuit populations from the late 19th century through the 1950s. Overcrowded housing, malnutrition, and lack of healthcare worsened the toll. In Canada, Inuit were forcibly removed to TB sanatoriums, often without being told where their relatives were or if they had died. 🔹 Other Diseases Smallpox, whooping cough, diphtheria, and venereal diseases also caused waves of death and suffering after contact. 🔫 2. Violence and Gunshot Deaths Although not as widespread as disease, Inuit people were killed through violence, especially in early colonial periods: Some explorers or traders used violence or firearms to intimidate or kill Inuit who resisted trade, theft, or encroachment. Armed conflict occurred in localized incidents, especially in Greenland, Labrador, Alaska, and Canada’s Arctic. Example: In the 1800s, reports from Hudson’s Bay Company outposts and missionaries described retaliatory shootings of Inuit suspected of theft or resistance. In some cases, cultural misunderstandings or language barriers led to escalations and lethal force. 🧊 3. Colonial Policies and Indirect Harm In the 20th century, governments and missionaries often used coercion and force: Inuit were relocated to unfamiliar and often harsh environments (e.g., Canada’s High Arctic relocations in the 1950s) Children were taken from families into residential schools, leading to widespread abuse and trauma Sled dogs were slaughtered by authorities in some areas of Canada, deeply affecting Inuit mobility, food access, and survival ⚖️ Summary Cause of Death Impact Infectious disease Primary cause of death (measles, flu, TB) Gun violence Occurred, but less common than disease Colonial policy Caused widespread suffering and indirect deaths If you’d like firsthand accounts, timelines of epidemics, or case studies from Alaska or northern Canada, I can provide those too.
  10. He visited four months before the outbreak, meeting with local anti-vaccine influencers like Edwin Tamasese and Taylor Winterstein. In blog posts and letters, RFK Jr. raised doubts about the MMR vaccine’s safety, and suggested it might even have caused deaths. Samoa’s former Director‑General of Health, Dr. Alec Ekeroma, said RFK Jr.’s actions “emboldened anti-vaccine contacts” and fueled disinformation at a critical time. Nurse Moelagi Leilani Jackson, who helped with vaccination efforts, said: “I feel like they felt they had the support of Kennedy,” indicating his support for them refusing vaccinations.
  11. Having worked for the British military for 25 years both in the UK and abroad.......and can wholeheartedly refute that claim......for serving soldiers.
  12. He actively promoted vaccination fears and as a consequence many islanders were persuaded not to vaccinate their kids.......much as he is doing now in the US. Relax re: autism.....only a few weeks now and JFK Jr will announced to the World the exact causes of Autism. That was his promise.
  13. I really don't know what to make of the holocaust deniers? Can you just lump them in with flat Earthers, vaccine skeptics, no moon landings, covid deniers, QAnon followers......and say....what?
  14. Thaksin’s Presence at Tariff Talks Justified, Says Pheu Thai........ In the immortal words (kind of) of Mandy Rice-Davies.......well they would say that wouldn't they.....
  15. No, but 80 plus unvaccinated kids died in the following outbreaks......no vaccinated kids died.
  16. Sometimes....not often.....I have two cups of coffee on a morning......I'm in Isan....so that is pushing the boundaries.

  18. Quick date check....nope July......I can hardly believe my eyes....... Have they not considered the resentment every other nationality will feel as they watch the Chinese get rushed through passport control?
  19. Why should monks be celibate? I always understood the Catholic church imposed celibacy as a way to avoid any additional costs of priests having wives, but monks?
  20. I wonder if the mod's can tell us if he voted?
  21. I agree. I think we can expect ever possible effort made to avoid an election....even to the extent of having/allowing/promoting a coup........ The last thing they can afford to creep in to the equation is democracy.
  22. Nicely worded......sounds so much better than....."promptly beat seven shades out of him"
