It's human nature to be in a 'gang' and the biggest gangs are nations. The notion wealthy Americans, as an example, might be prepared to have their way of life and standard of living decimated in order to accommodate everyone in Central America is laughable.

Feel for you.....step one is never, never buy in Thailand....only ever rent. Unless the situation is resolved, moving is your only option (but rent if you do!!!).

People have a right to live wherever they wish......No they don't, not since national boundaries were established in order to protect a nation's citizens.....(Russia/Ukraine?) The planet belongs to all of us and none of us at the same time. Do you think you should have more rights to travel and relocate over someone who was born in say Somalia or Syria? ........In the sense that I have no intention of remaining in someone else's countries unless allowed to, then yes, I have more rights. Nations have to maintain stability for the safety of its citizens......and key to that is controlling mass migration. Allowing free movement could only work where everyone on Earth enjoyed equal benefits......income/welfare/healthcare/human rights......etc

I'd avoid putting up curtains ......not the climate for it even if you keep the aircon on 24/7. We put up 13 pairs last year.....all sun bleached now.

It begs the question, which Russians are 'allowed' by their employers to have a 90 day holiday.....NONE. So the main beneficiaries of a 90 day visa will the unemployed, drug dealers, thugs and draft dodgers.........glad I live in the middle of rice field (for once)

Grim......streets are busy yet the bars, shops and restaurants are relatively empty. Lot of drug dealers, beggars and hookers of every type plying their trade on the street. Gangs of Indian males, lots of Chinese/Japanese/Arab couples and families......the type that walk about, don't go into bars and buy food to eat in their hotel room. Gone are the days of young looking, attractive bar girls, anxious to please. Some bars, the average bar girl must be well into their 40's and 50's.....and look it.

We go out 4pm/5pm......bars are sparsely populated, staff rush to serve you, always a pool table free, few if any mental patients are out on the loose, and it's cheap beer.......back home for 8pm and a good nights sleep.

If this were viable in terms of generating a 'profit' for the nation, every nation would be doing it. Having made made such a rash and stupid promise (with no detailed planning on how it would work or be funded) this is now a massive Thai face saving operation......for which Thais and expats will have to pay.

If this were true why isn't every country doing it and doing it on a regular basis? This has corruption and inflation stamped in big red letters all over it.

My money is on Middlesbrough.....need to keep that on the QT.
