  1. Agreed. My next door neighbour has been here 50 years. I hate to think what it was like then!
  2. Sorry to hear that, KB. There have been a lot of PEA trucks around Chao Fah West in Chalong recently, working on the cables, insulators and/or transformers. I had a day without power last week. Edit: My next door neighbour has a diesel-powered electricity generator. You would think that if he could do it for his house, that the very important Immigration office......
  3. They are fairly big and black. I have trouble spotting them sometimes, so I just aim at the noise and then see them fly off.
  4. My old Toyota pickup needs replacing. I want to test drive a Renault Megane Sport Tourer Estate, but can't find a dealer down here - Phuket. The MG3 is similar, but I like the flat load space in the Renault when the rear seats are folded forward - just like my old Renault 19 16V hatchback: The MG3's load space isn't flat. Any other hatchbacks like these two worth looking at?
  5. Nice principle! ???? Impossible to find, though. My 3 years warranty APC died after 4 years. I just ordered another APC BR1600 for 15,100 baht. If it lasts 3 years, I'll be happy.
  6. Possibly the Asian Koel - Cuckoo. Wikipedia: https://bit.ly/3apApOY Do you occasionally hear an annoyingly loud "Gow-wow" bird call? (Thais name it "Nok Gow-Wow). The call starts at a medium pitch and gets louder and louder and higher and higher. I have one around my house. I have a device for scaring him/her off:
  7. I've used a Syndome UPS in the past, but not a big one as in your link. I had no problems with it that I can recall, but I just needed a bigger one so went with APC brand.
  8. I've used Zircon in the past. I think the amount of equipment I had increased and exceeded what the Zircon UPS could handle. I don't recall having any problem with it.
  9. Already did. That doesn't fix it and didn't fix the previous one that failed with the same error displayed.
  10. My 3 year warranty ran out a year ago.
  11. Hi MJCM - have you had any problems with your APC 700's and 750's? My UPS model is the "APC Back-UPS Pro 1500" (model BR1500GI). Here is a link to that model at APC.com: https://bit.ly/38k49w0 So I have 5 of those - 3 are for the computers and 2 are for the 2 smart TVs. I have used this model for about 18 years. But, over the years I have collected 2 - correction, 3 - duds. Today's failure makes it 3. The one that failed to start today displayed the exact same fault on its screen as the other two - "F02". It came with a 3 year warranty in 2018. This error is not fixable by changing the batteries as some unhelpful posters on other internet sites have suggested. The fault is probably more likely an internal relay welded or a component fault. So I'm now thinking of changing from the big UPSs to two smaller ones or even change to a similar big one from a different manufacturer such as "CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD" - another 1500VA UPS. Here's a link to that model at their site: https://bit.ly/3Ny0pFX Any thoughts?
  12. I actually did consider getting a backup generator - like my neighbour has. Every time the electric authority work on the power lines or transformers, they let us know but it's still a day without power. But that happens so infrequently that I dismissed the idea. I now use just big UPSs with batteries that last at least enough time to finish what I'm working on, on the computer(s), or safely power off the smart TV(s).
  13. I have 5 UPSs at the moment - 4 in the computer room and 1 in the bedroom. One in the computer room has just failed so I need to replace it. I won't say which brand of UPS I currently use as I don't want to influence what people might suggest. So I'd really like some pointers as to which UPS manufacturer you use and consider of good quality and reliability. Thanks.
  14. I always buy Flora. But my favourite cereal is a ridiculous price now: I did buy several packs from Shopee at 129 Bt months ago. Ah, the good old days...
  15. KB can you also say what the advantage is of having such an account. I let my pension money and other monies grow in my UK bank and then periodically use SWIFT to transfer it to my Krung Thai account. Thanks if you can.
  16. Sorry, what's your point? Maybe read my first post. It has nothing to do with bank-books and everything to do with getting a letter from immigration that the bank needs to open another account. Once the bank account is created, then I'm sure I'll get a bank book. Sorry, my fault! ???? I digressed to talking about getting a new Krung Thai bank book and complained that I have to go to the original branch in Phang-nga Road. The Chalong branch wouldn't do it. Seems like it's not a problem with some other banks. ????
  17. Wrong. I'm English. America is screwed. Biden is a brain-dead puppet.
  18. Not odd at all - this place is full of lefties/democrats.
  19. You might want to consider the location of your new bank. My Krung Thai book is full and I need a new one. The Chalong branch said that I have to go to Phuket Town - where the account was opened - to get a new book. Edit: Just saw your last post - my Krung Thai branch is in Phang Nga road!
  20. I used to have the 2 TB plan, annual payment, until I realised I didn't need it.
  21. One of the few Thai tracks on my pickup's stereo. Bird (Thongchai McIntyre) - Do You Know (That I Miss You)
  22. The only Vietnamese/Chinese track I have on my pickup's stereo, but nice! "Nhat Ky" : Vietnamese for "Diary"
