Unfortunately, I can't see how to get it to convert English audio to English text. It wants to translate from one language in to another.

I have a 30 minute .mp3 file of a conversation between myself and my financial advisor. I'd like to make notes from it . Then I recalled seeing some automatically generated subtitles on YouTube videos. So I started looking for programs or websites that would generate text from .mp3 files. But there are so many and are so confusing that I thought I'd ask here if anyone has a recommendation. The .mp3 file is on a Windows 10 PC.

Ukraine war: World must act now to stop Russia nuclear threat - Zelensky
JetsetBkk replied to webfact's topic in World News
You need to brush up on history. Boris Johnson has cast doubt on the prospects for a negotiated peace in Ukraine, comparing it to holding talks with a “crocodile” https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/apr/20/boris-johnson-casts-doubt-on-possibility-of-negotiated-peace-in-ukraine Boris Johnson Pressured Zelenskyy to Ditch Peace Talks With Russia: Ukrainian Paper https://www.commondreams.org/news/2022/05/06/boris-johnson-pressured-zelenskyy-ditch-peace-talks-russia-ukrainian-paper -
Ukraine war: World must act now to stop Russia nuclear threat - Zelensky

Yes - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minsk_agreements & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution_of_Dignity re. the Minsk Accords: When Boris Johnson went to Ukraine in April, he told Zelensky not to negotiate for peace with Russia. All Russia wanted was for Ukraine not to join NATO. And now, here we are. Thanks Boris. -

Thanks for the link. Yes, I'm afraid my mobile is very old - 2016, and runs a very old Android - 6.01. But the messages weren't a scam! I've just painstakingly translated them: ... and it says that I'm "entitled to apply for a loan for 150k baht"! I've obscured the bit.ly link in case it's related to me, but I think it was to a "Line" QR code. So, panic over, conspiracy theories put to one side, relax! But something turned off the Wi-Fi on my mobile and I'm sure I didn't push any buttons to do that. Maybe my old Android just screwed up. Note to self: get a new damn phone!

I was thinking more along the lines of the scammer wanting payment to "fix" my phone, so that the Wi-Fi started working again. Clearly it didn't work with me because I saw the problem in the "Wi-Fi settings. But maybe it would work with less knowledgeable people. But it was weird - and scary - that the Wi-Fi stopped immediately after I got the two SMS messages and then tapped on the bit.ly link.
-
I just got two SMS Messages in Thai language that had 150,000 baht mentioned and my bank, and a "bit.ly" link. It also showed a Thai telephone number - the sender of the message. Two of these identical messages arrived within seconds. On my mobile, I tapped the bit.ly link and "No Internet Connection" was reported by Chrome. I tried the Adblock browser - same result. Twitter also could not retrieve tweets. Then a third identical message arrived. I blocked the number. I took snapshots of the messages so I have a record of the bit.ly link and the Thai telephone number. I then rebooted my mobile and went into Settings and found that the Wi-Fi was turned off. I turned Wi-Fi on and it now appears to be working normally. Is it possible for a web site to turn off your mobile's Wi-Fi? I'm thinking that the bit.ly link that I clicked on went to a website initially, which then turned off the Wi-Fi. Maybe the message was to extract 150,000 baht from me? I also went to the bit.ly link on my W10 PC, probably a stupid thing to do, and a "Line" app QR code appeared that asked to be scanned in order to add someone as a friend. I didn't do that. My IPTV worked OK while this was going on while my phone had no internet connection. So it just affected my mobile. I can provide images of the bit.ly link with the telephone number, if it helps. Edit: I also have a picture of the Line QR code.

Retirement visa/extension, the small print
JetsetBkk replied to L0St's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, I can't think what else it can be. You write posts like a nice bloke. I can't think why the Immi guys should give you a hard time. ???? And today I went for my latest 90 day report - probably my 80th report, all told. The only problem I had was the idiot tourist who decided to stop his car on the black and yellow striped "No Waiting" area in the "Drive Thru" lane. A couple of short beeps on my pickup's horn got him shifted. Next report date: 1st Jan 2023. I wonder if they're open then? -

I didn't realise you were in Phuket! (I know it says so under your name - I just forgot to check until now.) I've been to Phuket Immi ... checks old passports ... 18 times for my O-A renewal. Never a problem, never used an agent. -

I've been getting adverts from Expressvpn on my phone. I've not had problems yet with my IPTV provider, but it's cheap enough just to get it anyway. Is there anything I have to do to get it to work with my Android box? I don't want to screw things up. -

Ditto - both about the same ages, both connected to a "Magicsee N5" Android box. But the last couple of days, 3BB has had a problem providing the IPTV signal. The TV would pause and continue between 10 and 30 seconds. But this morning, after 10:30am, it started working normally. The IPTV company said it was a 3BB problem and I believe them. -

I disagree. He made a joke about Amazon and said "IPTV" instead of "IPTV provider". There are people who live outside the "tech" world. -
Stray dogs caught after chasing after tourists and residents in Phuket
JetsetBkk replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Yes, "Ugh", they are so ugly. Here's a really violent bunch fighting! Or is it just friends having a "rough and tumble", and totally ignoring the farang with the camera... This vicious dog even gave me a kiss... When they're young, they do like to play... Until it's time for bed... So, as well as dogs and puppies, there are also birds... And more puppies (eating my food)... And some really nasty looking lizards... Not all the monkeys are the same... But when it's hot, there's only one place to be... This was a nice trip down memory lane. I see from Google Earth that the hill is open again - new pictures are from this year - so I'll be going again very soon.
