  1. In other reports, the "lady" is a Thai onlyfans "content creator," she set up a tripod, then exposed her breasts, and was advertising to her instagram followers that she had a porn film with the monk, available for 699 baht. No, the title of the video was not "Bang Sue Station."
  2. If you sent swift into Thailand, your Thai bank has records of how much you transferred in. Supposedly you should be able to send a similar amount out via swift from the same bank. Have you stopped by your bank to ask? Should be much easier and safer than experimenting with krypto using your life savings.
  3. Piece of paper with the embassy notary seal showing my address, worked at DLT and at the bank. Never hurts to ask.
  4. September, 2022. That was prior to my first 90-day report.
  5. My post was about getting a Thai driving license. The clerk at DLT Chatuchak wanted either the immigration residency certificate or the notarized embassy residency affidavit. I whipped out my no-longer-needed notarized embassy marital status affidavit and asked if it would suffice, as it had my local address. The clerk accepted that as proof of residence. Same thing happens in the banks. They ask for the "embassy letter", but (Bangkok Bank) will accept the marital status affidavit as it has the pertinent information and a government seal.
  6. Sometimes, if you ask,........ DLT Chatuchak accepted my US embassy "affidavit of single status" listing passport number and local address in lieu of the standard two documents listed. Seems the clerk simply wants something with a fancy stamp. If you go this route, get the marriage certificate first. DLT will keep the original.
  7. I love these incredibly vague prophetic announcements.....
  8. Well here's the thing, dear. My great uncle, who happens to be a Nigerian prince, was also involved in the United Nations Fund providing aid to Lybia. As a princely accountant for the UN, he oversaw all funds, so at the end of the program, there was US£ 1,000,000 remaining in the account. Warlords overran the UN offices, but fortunately he managed to download all the UN bitcoin onto a hig-value ATM card. So, dear, I am asking for your help in getting these bitfunds out of wartorn Lybia...........
  9. While you're at it, have a look at the subway map. No need to find a hotel within walking distance of the embassy. Find a suitable place somewhere near a subway or train station (or pier!), and book an appointment slot outside of heavy commuter times.
  10. It's not always free. CW charges 200 baht last time I received one there, *IF* they'll issue you one. At that time DLT wanted two copies, one for car and one for moto. Other provinces? Some may be free, others charge 500 baht. As for CW, you need to have a 90-day report on file first, so no license for tourists, nor buying a used car. The retired folks coming in on visa exempt and converting to non-O are looking at about six months before they can get their "free" residency certificate. I'd much prefer a "free" certificate, but I might be willing to pay $50 to get it now. The advantage to that is that I can use that embassy paper to open bank and brokerage accounts.
  11. That is news! Embassy is no longer issuing notarized affidavits stating address to be used for drivers licenses or buying/selling cars. It's for our own good, they say! https://th.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/factsheet-cessation-of-residency-affidavits.pdf
  12. Ask your landlord if the apartment is registered on the Sec.38 app. If so, he can do your TM30 in a couple minutes, or can give you the login information to do it yourself. If not, and you think you'll need a TM30 for extensions, you may be able to register the apartment as possessor uploading the rental contract and your passport.
  13. Would this be an industrial radiation emitter source? Possibly used in radiography for examining pressure vessels? similar to this recent event
  14. I've flown scores of flights on JetStar throughout Asia. Cheap flights, usually on time, no unreasonable delays, no problem carrying oversize luggage (complete bicycles). I got exactly what I paid for - a modestly comfortable seat taking me from point A to point B, and no extras I didn't want to pay extra for. No complaints. Oh, wait! A computer-generated summary of irate Karen tweets changes everything! Never again!
  15. Can we hear more about the "payment for the PIN code for a High Value ATM card" that you're holding? Sounds like a really interesting story behind this.
  16. Am I to assume your great uncle, who happens to be a Nigerian prince, is prepared to send you the PIN code, as soon as you send 25K baht, refundable of course, for express mail and customs duties?
  17. Well, here's where it gets interesting. Let's say Billy Bob hits a curb at speed and flies over his handlebars, smacking his noggin on a light pole and cracking his skull. Let's say he survives, barely, but needs multiple major surgeries, extensive time on a ventilator in ICU, and perhaps years of physical therapy. Billy Bob was a wee bit tipsy, he didn't wear a helmet, and he had no insurance. Heck, while we're at it, his license was suspended two years ago, but the police always looked the other way. Somebody has to pay for all this. There's the ambulance and police, paid for with tax bahts, but this takes away from deserving victims. The hospital and the doctors and the medicines and the surgeries and the therapy? It either comes out of the pockets of law-abiding insurance holders through higher premiums (if insurance come into this at all), or increased taxes, or the lost opportunities to use collected taxes for the public good. There's potential psychological trauma caused to others, or damage to other property to consider as well. So in a civilized society rights are not absolute. They come with responsibilities as well. If we're gonna let Billy Bob ride without a helmet, I'm fine with that, but no public services or insurance payout when he crashes. He's on his own. No helmet? Send the street sweepers to push him into the gutter.
  18. Ah. Sorry, my reading comprehension failed. Had to re-read the original post. You live here now (long term visa?) and have a Thai bank account which you used to transfer 2500 baht to some guy on the Facebooks? Or maybe deposited cash into some guy's account either at a teller or ATM?
  19. I'm guessing you sent cash via Western Union to a dude on Facebook? Nothing you can do. Next time book with an established booking site like Booking.com or Agoda where you have some recourse, and use a credit card. And whatever you do, don't make agreements with the renter outside of the booking site.
  20. You should check those Lazada/Shopee ads before you post. The ads typically give a half dozen options - 5 colors of helmet, or a replacement face shield (or stick-on cat ears). The face shield is 39 baht, the helmets will be 149. The lowest price shows up on the search page.
  21. That's down to education and training. I haven't driven without a seat-belt since high school (age of 8-tracks), or ridden a bicycle without a helmet the past half million kilometers. I can't imagine driving the wrong way down the side of a major highway to save a few seconds by avoiding the U-turn. I feel nauseous just thinking about it.
  22. The IO will tell the foreigner he needed to maintain correct funds in the account for the full year, so no extension. He will need to start all over requesting a new non-O visa, OR pay an agent to pay an IO to look the other way again.
