  1. Excellent. Use third rate software to auto-translate obsolete fairy tales. Hub of futility.
  2. Just for funsies, assume on 65K baht method, sending $2000/month. ACH domestic wire from bank to wise is free, send $2000 Wise charges $13.75 and converts to baht at 35.37 (Aug 15 4:30pm) No Thai bank fees. You get....................70,250 SWIFT from your bank to Thai bank $25, fee deducted from total, send $1975 Thai bank converts at 35.20 (Aug 15 4:15pm Bangkok Bank) for 69,520 Bangkok Bank incoming wire fee of 0.25% is 175 baht. You get....................69,345 So........income method guy pays an extra 10,850 baht per year.
  3. The transfer fees might not be that much different, but consider the exchange rates. Wise offers close to the live forex rate. Conversion of your funds at an incoming bank much more costly, and adds up quickly with 0.15-0.25 baht/dollar rate difference. Current GBP-THB rate at bangkok bank Aug 15 44.32250 45.23500 1000 GBP = ? 44,322.50 minus your SWIFT fee, and then 200 baht fee from the receiving bank. [ Bangkok Bank incoming wire 0.25% of the transfer value (minimum 200 baht, maximum 500 baht per transaction)] Current rate from Wise 44.7854 1000 GBP minus fees 44,499.67 (slightly higher if sending from own balance) Current XE.com live rate 44.798707 1000 GBP = 44,798.53
  4. I understand your feelings. Some scum dumped a human infant in a garbage pile on the roadside. Possibly alive when dumped. They must be victims. Wish them happy and lucky lucky.
  5. the xe.com number i quoted was the mid-market rate, not the conversion rate if sending by xe.com. wise quote seems to match the live quotes. for information only, to compare to the actual wise conversion rate. i checked bangkok bank, but they haven't updated the forex rates on their website since friday.
  6. currently xe.com dollar-baht exchange is 35.324468 wise guarantees an exchange rate of 35.3200
  7. It's not just the transfer fee. The difference is negligible. Compare the euro-baht conversion rate. Odds are you'll save thousands having wise convert, rather than western union or the receiving bank. The wise website will tell you exactly how much you'll receive to compare to the western union or bank websites.
  8. He's looking at this wrong. Thanks to the wonderful medical procedure, he now has one leg LONGER than the other. Shirley, that must be a great advantage as a kickboxer!
  9. It seems the ceeceepee will be punishing the man. ⛷️
  10. The original article didn't say he was Chinese, just "believed to be of Asian descent." With the poor audio, I really couldn't make out anything, just that it sounded vaguely Chinese-y. Cantonese is my default fallback for when I don't have a clue what the person is saying. But physically, if Chinese, he looks more northern-ish.
  11. Not really. I lived in China for a decade, speak more of a southern dialect of Mandaran. This fellow is from Shaanxi, where the local version of Mandarin is, how you say, unique. I watched the video yesterday. The audio was rather poor, and I couldn't make out much of what the man said. I was guessing it was some version of Cantonese.
  12. Why? He didn't break any Chinese laws. Nothing expected from the Chinese authorities, unless Thailand contacts them, but highly unlikely. If Thailand wanted to prosecute, he'd been in jail now. Any action by China would be embarassing....for China.
  13. How else do you not see an 18-wheeler directly in front of you?
  14. You can download the immigration sec. 38 app for your phone to register your rental property in the database. Once confirmed you can then do a TM-30 for the occupant on the app.
  15. #1 Farrah Fawcett swimsuit 1976
  16. Any advice on how to simply and easily legalize a will? I had read on this forum in the past to simply take them to an Amphur to be stamped/registered. My wife and I wrote up our wills, tried to register them at our local Amphur, also tried at the main Amphur in Korat, but were told "foreigner, no can."
  17. No need. They'll out themselves when they dump a newborn in a petrol station rubbish bin.
  18. This is in a southern province with a large muslim demographic. Possible she was dressed in abaya and was able to conceal it.
  19. Have Thai banks reduced their rates? This was several years ago, and at that time my wife was paying 28% on her cards. (Just before we closed all her accounts.)
  20. I don't believe the article stated the girl's age. 12 or 13 is the assumption based on the average age of grade 7 students. I'm not familiar with Thai schools. Do students ever begin a year or two late, and is it possible to fail grades or be held back? If so, age could perhaps be 14 or 15.
