Yes 7/11 don't care - nearly all shopping centers don't care (I say nearly because some claimed Seacon was), and restaurants certainly don't, you dont go to Central world - no mask- and then mask from the restaurant entry to the table - the whole <10metres - based on some small sign still stuck to window, the idea that rightly private institutions are creating their own terms of service is just not true - but admittedly there will be an abundance of out-dated posters about (often mentioning 20k fine from ministry of health) and thais following their ritual. No one will say anything to you weather its a high end restaurant or your condo. On the other reinforcements Thais won't throw away the plastic wrapping on a TV so I suspect this is why you still see broken temperatures sensors everywhere, there a multitude of culture things at play here thats dragging this fear into 2023. Ah buffet gloves, jesus christ, yes unfortunately this still a thing sadly

Partner is stressed about a recent CBC fattached from Chula as the bottom of the result is a comment from lab technician suggesting a problem like "leukemia" (not my translation) Using my degree in googling this is contrary to the metrics of WBC, RBC and platelet which seem to be trending in the counter direction that would be used to suggest leukemia from 2020 to 2022. It should be noted, she wasn't feeling great on the day of the hospital visit, took a headache tablet once back from the hospital and slept for an hour or two that afternoon so I guess she was running a light fever on the day of the visit. (it wasn't covid - two seperate branded atk tests). Also she had a tumour removed from womb in early 2020 - I believe the comparison test was months later. I guess the practical course of action is just go see a doctor tonight at any private hospital for an opinion to blunt the worry? But any insight on the metric oddities I've "googled" would be helpful

Thais are still pretending its the black plague, compliance in bangkok is higher than 95%, I would go a surrounding country instead for now heard Vietnam is pretty much back to normal, there's a very small hope it changes here on the 1st October if government downgrade causes the news presenters and influencers to demask but it's more probable Thailand remains a mask mecca into 2023

Bank Requirements for Non-O Based on Marriage
mnomad replied to EdwardM's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
On (2) and talk of agents and save the money, indeed you can of course do it by yourself, but it's by no means guaranteed, worth a try, you may need to try several branches.. I think chances are if you devote a morning to it, and possible a few jumps on the BTS you'll be sorted by lunch time in Bangkok, favour expat dense areas. For example one SCB had a nice big color copy of the old non-imm visa sticker (the full page one) in their compliance or whatever handbook with a tick, and didn't understand these were only handed out nowadays by embassies abroad, an e-visa and stamp on arrival at swampy non-imm and subsequent extension didn't suffice, to prove a point they bought over another member of staff and both pointed at it and tutted, incase I missed it the first time round. Good luck -
The list is endless, here's some recent ones - BTS drivers masked (they have their own cabin) - Long distance truck drivers - Guy video conferencing in a private meeting room (on his own) - Guy drinking a pint with < 2 second gulps between mask refitting - Foreigners outside masked For more giggles watch the way they open doors with their elbows. Yes, yes, there will be a tiny minority with immocompromised elder people at home, like everywhere else, but we're talking 99.5% of them still acting irrationally, doesn't make sense. The saddest part is whilst you can adopt each to their own mentality, and hey ho, doesnt bother me, not hurting anyone etc etc.. when you see toddlers and young kids masked and childrens parks and amusements closed or fenced off you can't help but wonder how selfish these hypochondriac are in kicking this fear in to next year whilst all other countries, including neighbors, and certainly EU/UK/US/AU are moving forward at pace. No masks on Singapore Airlines an example for this week..

Interesting Immigration attitude at Swampy today
mnomad replied to Regyai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Exactly. The information probably is available on the computer somehow but its certainly not what some suggest that a scan immediately calculates time in thailand, shows last entries, and the ridiculous notion that a single scan links all previous passports. Either this functionality is restricted to certain systems or certain users or the training is below par because they alsmost certainly dont rely on it, the thumbing through passports and counting out "nung, song, sam" loud and slowly will continue -

This. Anyone one on repeat tourist visa or METV should try line up for a old male - repeated experiences suggest this is easiest route... -
If it's four working days then you might be okay - i would be quite confident based on my own turnaround for a non-imm earlier in the year, if it's four days inc weekend e.g.. you submit friday morning and expect before end of day monday then I would be planning on a last minute flight change.. FYI for timeline submitted Thursday got late Monday for me but this was non-imm 3month - not sure if it matters or not. Is your 4 day window due to leaving Thailand and having to submit passport pages of thai related travel? If so couldn't you just join the exit stamp to a pdf whilst waiting at your flight gate

I hope you are right, and Bangkok falls in line soon. It's like the twilight zone at the moment to me, see everyone masked like we are in the middle of the black plague, you get hundreds of questionable stares a day, people cross the road to avoid the maskless farang, then you have the worst of worst - the farang mask promoters - people on this forum that try to argue that most thais were wearing masks pre-covid and virtue signal about their 6th vaccine and one-for-all, good of the community, respect for elderly and the rest of the drivel

I remember them years ago, hoping they come back one day, but presently it's rare to have an interaction with a Thai outside your social circle that isn't masked or double masked. Any body language you can infer from the eyes is usually fear - the farang is near, - or confusion - why the farang is maskless?

Cardless ATM at Siam Commercial Bank
mnomad replied to Nickelbeer's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not quite required, although a little more tricky if not present. they send you a photo of your QR code, you send that to someone with you, then you photo that in the bangkok bank app, you get 60 seconds if i remember correctly, handy for emergencies like a family member losing their card out of town.. -
Using same pics for marriage extension again?
mnomad replied to sanook 1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Does it get easier the second time round at CW? Our first extension 12month non-imm o based on marraige was a bit unexpected, wife had to be there, originals presented along with the copies, everything had to be perfect which of course it wasn't, and a rather detailed interview - where did you meet etc, what religion was I and so on, all logged into the computer. Does wifey have to go next year and repeat the interview thing? The photos were fine - some site said photos of travelling which were returned just the condo and around the condo -
How many days are required in BKK for marriage docs?
mnomad replied to cyril sneer's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Ive seen some blog posts about the 24hr marriage, but at least for us, it was a multi-step slow process albeit this was in Bangkok though where the rules are more strict, appointments weeks out, amphur needing time to check documents before offering appointment, witnesses required and their IDs verified, a lengthy interview to verify authenticity etc.. I couldn't imagine doing it all in a day. -
How many days are required in BKK for marriage docs?
mnomad replied to cyril sneer's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Translation can be done same day, make sure they are correct though, ours was sloppy and needed to be corrected - get your wife to contact some of Line and go with the most responsive one. But you need them certified by the MFA. You don't need to use the MFA in Bangkok - and when we looked on the app the booking slots were months out for Bangkok there are other MFAs - there is one in Chiang Mai for example. The MFA EMS them for what I remember -
Why does McDonalds cost so much in Thailand?
mnomad replied to dj230's topic in Western Food in Thailand
Rare that a thai would pay full/menu price in mcdonalds - there always some promotion linked to some credit card, mobile phone, wallet, bank app that makes paying menu price the exception rather than the norm. As a farang you can get some of these promos too but it's a lot of messing about. -
Got the original signed PoA, green book, copy of seller id, my residence certificate, passport, etc.. seller forgot the transfer form and is now out of country. Seller has offered to sign/scan/pdf/I-print-color - i.e. with everything else does the transfer form need to be original - will that work?

Certificate of residence in Chaeng Wattana
mnomad replied to motyduke's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. Not for me at CW. Come back in a month for the "decision" and the real stamp to some date in 2023. Different for marriage vs retirement? This is marriage, my initial 90 non-imm O was embassy acquired out of country - stamp at swampy. -
Certificate of residence in Chaeng Wattana
mnomad replied to motyduke's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Okay, yep thats my scenario I think, 90 day non-imm O, but my first annual extension is under consideration technically rather than a stamp to 2023, other difference I havent applied for a re-entry permit as not required with my plans. I will go back and try for a residence certificate next week then -

mnomad replied to motyduke's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks, just to clarify when you say first extension - do you mean the under consideration stamp or the one we have to go back for in a month? -
Certificate of residence at Chang Wattana without the normal TM.47 half-fold receipt? I've just submitted my first extension for non-imm O 12month and it's under consideration. My understanding is that this Tm7 application is this counts as the first notification, even some piece of paper stapled that says something roughly to that effect and a date to do first real TM47 in 3months. Is this sufficient to get a CofR or do I have to wait 3 months?

Unless they still have their no-quibble refund whenever for whatever policy then I don't see what Qatar has done wrong here. Metal changes and time tweaks are normal, however if it's a massive difference you'd have some recourse, presuming its 1-2-1 arrangement changing from a window to group in the middle with the privacy divider isn't a material difference to warrant a refund. If you're after a refund of the seat reservation fee then I'm fully with you? If you want a full refund because they tweak the time 1hr and changed to a different widebody then good luck but it doesn't seem viable. Did you book directly with Qatar or via an OTA/agent?
