Re-entry permit or not?
mnomad replied to Confuscious's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I got the re-entry permit at CW, 3800baht, I will probably fly out 3 or 4 times this year so it won't be materially different price wise having vs not having. That said, the re-entry permit was the slowest part at CW, which added an hour nearly of waiting around to the visit of collecting my non-imm O stamp, I think next year I'll just skip it for 3-4 x 20mins at swampy instead.. -
Yikes, I can't believe people are still advocating for masking kids, it should be a crime to mask a kid. Your school decided to close, it didn't have to, schools in your own country back home (unless you're from mainland China) are not behaving this irrationally in Q3 2022 regarding covid outbreaks - give that some thought as to why

We were told two witnesses and they both had to know where we lived, this was ambiguous, so i dont know exactly if the MIL would qualify, i think ill just leave it for now, done the MFA earlier in the year for marriage - not a huge hurdle once get an appointment but I probably just leave it now, thanks for sharing tho

Thanks for sharing this mate even though you got attacked by some for reasons unknown. I was told the same about requiring witnesses and we were about to put it together, pulling in favors and obviously their time on the company money plus of course (no bother about that). I wont bother now it would be to embarrassing wasting everyone's time.

Masks are not required anywhere in the airport, including gate, security and immigration check. I would agree technically "most" are wearing them if you considering "most" people in domestic terminal are Thai, but still an abundance of people not participating in the theater - basically every foreigner. On board masks are merely suggested and most foreigners won't be wearing them - hatyai is hardly a tourist destination though, you can pass through completely unmasked through all stages.

Public should not worry about new Omicron subvariants: DMSC
mnomad replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, it is ridiculous how entrenched the mask is part of their being this far into 2022, from leaving the condo in the morning to returning home at night, it probably comes off for just a brief few minutes a day for eating. Thai's are very easily influenced so I think the first thing that needs to go is the domestic news (a stretch to call it news), silly quiz shows, and reality/singing competitions that are masked and/or face visored. Then the ministers. -
Heard everything from 3 months to 1 year (the usual validity of an Idp), no one really knows, although everyone pretends they are sure - those that claim you don't need a thai drivers license don't have one and insist that even a normal english license you dont need the IDP - those that have a thai drivers license go the other extreme and say you need the thai drivers license after 3 months - seems people lose their impartial judgement based on their own circumstances or just dont want to say they dont know. To save the hassle when you do cause an accident, or blamed for causing an accident due to some local native bad driving (more likely the latter) its seem logical its better to have

You'll need to pay an agency to get your CoR then it should be easy enough, you won't get a CoR on your own in BKK or Pattaya I don't think, prices for agency acquired CoR 1500-2000baht Other option is embassy proof of address but without a long term visa and something with your address on like a lease I can't see it working, of course there always photoshop for the lease agreement. No chance at CW for a 200baht CoR on TR visa

Public should not worry about new Omicron subvariants: DMSC

I can definitely see this happening, the chinese sets where you burn stuff now include paper masks. It's so comical. -
I think an obvious typo missing the word 'not' ', so doors and windows not closed but still masking', I'm guessing that's the line. Unfortunately even if the kids could engage in critical thinking it is probably the teacher or head that mandates the silly mask at all times, masks for ever, it is at this point simply ridiculous, book your mask mecca 2023 holiday today..

https://onwardticket.com - doesnt have to be BKK-LHR, can be to any surrounding country, but I think all same $15 anyway - book the morning you fly

eVisa you don't need to show up, they send you a PDF by email (check spam box too) two to several days later which you show immigration on entry, be aware a lot of requirements aren't fully visible until your three quarters of the way through the process and you get a page with several PDF upload boxes with everything imaginable that wasn't listed on all the blogs etc, apply now - you can pause/park the application whilst gather the necessary PDFs for a few days but at least if you start now you know what you need

Awesome played a big part in WW2, German soldiers were given supplies of it to keep them going during their invasions, there was a theory that it also desensitized them to human atrocities that were happening all around them - I cant recall if it was scientifically proven - forgot the documentary - though but when you see the stories on thai domestic news followed by "i was high" it would make sense..

Correction - grrr she wasn't very clear at all ????♂️. Was not at Chula was a basic health test organized by work some weeks ago and only just read by her, so the headache/fever on the day situation doesn't apply either nor the sense of urgency I think. Think the statements probably just auto generated based on reference ranges.

Yeah that was strange, many of the staff double masked too, and one or two young women even had face visors on and gloves on, on top of the desk being surrounded in plastic glass. That said there was at least two staff, two aunties, openly walking around unmasked so it was all a bit surreal. I wouldn't read into them chiding farangs, doubt its covid related, it seems a past time for some of younger female IOs, I seen it happen for someone missing there number for 30 seconds or paper in wrong order.. I missed the telephone number on the entrance form and was promptly chided for this, like they are going to do anything with them, like they are contact tracing at all?, just all very strange

Not 100% true on the first point. I did take a call from Microsoft, and it was from Microsoft The guy immediately got a big earful about being scammer and second time a lot more profanity, stop calling me etc.. I then did realized I was waiting on shipment of a Surface replacement keyboard. The guy thankfully called back a third time. ???? Ah that was embarrassing

This what I don't understand, Thais consume their joke doemstic news all day long, and every other day there is a piece, facebook story, or often TV section on these type of scams, while Ukraine might be a non-existent word in them, things like the speedboat accident, and repeated DHL/passport/tax-refund scams should be smashed in their memory by now.. The coverage is relentless
