I have only looked at 2 banks that I have been with, but I think they are all the same.

I think you should take out accident insurance, especially if you intend to ride a bike here --you can get that from any Bank here for about 5,000 Bht a year.
This for any type of accident---but its a sliding scale just a few 100 thousand...for most accidents & it drops sharply for motor bike accidents.
Try to understand why it does before you start riding here.........
Regardless of age?

I know someone who was taken to Bangkok Hospital with his second heart attack and they told him the procedure would be circa 2m, he had the cash but couldn't access it immediately and asked how long he had to pay - they replied he wouldn't make it through the night unless he could prove he could underwrite the whole amount.
If this was his second heart attack, I doubt if he was insurable anyway?

Get registered at the secondary care governmental hospital, they are more expensive, than primary one, but shorter waiting time for treatments and specialists.
What is a secondary care hospital?

I also prefer cash - but I do have a smart phone and recently got a QR code and it actually came in handy as a money transfer to a branch in Bkk was free whereas it would have cost me 1,000 baht otherwise...
You don't need a QR code to make a bank transfer using your smart phone?

Poppysdad, you might check out virtual wallets like Revolut, Skrill or Chime that also offer a credit card number (it's really a debit card linked to your wallet but payments are processed as credit card charges that don't require a PIN.
Never heard of Skrill and Chime. USA only or UK as well?

In each case the charge was reversed before the monthly payment was due, and I was sent a new card.
and there lies the problem for a lot of expats, receiving a new card.

I'd shop in Thailand for WINTER coats, you can find some for maybe 200 baht. Facebook marketplace, I found great coats for under 300 baht. I can't imagine cheaper in the UK.
There are many Charity shops in the UK where clothes can be got very cheap. Also, the Salvation Army run "clothes" banks.

Yesterday I went to buy a sanwich and coffee at a Starbucks outlet in Rama 4 road in Bangkok and tried to pay cash and was told that they only accept either a credit card or an online transfer using QR code. No cash accepted even for a 20 baht water bottle if you were to buy one.
Maybe it was a Covid thing.

And can still be very costly. How much, depends on the drug needed. Some of the newer drugs may not even be available at a govt hospital.
Some of the older Chemo drugs could still be effective while being cheaper?

For example, a cancer op followed by months of chemo will set you back 1m bht+, so self insurance is not for the faint hearted
The Chemo can be administered at a state hospital.

Kerry is by far the best in our area, the delivery driver even will drop stuff at our friends house in a different area when we are not at home.
But it helps we tip them well, Flash is also good, but there is one (won't mention the name, and NO not the same as the OP) that is Shockingly bad and they even got my wife (who is calm itself) angry!
I doubt very much if a tip helps at all!
