  1. Yep, and people will continue to get new variants. A new article out in the New England Journal of Medicine says that both vaccinated and boosted people vs prior infected people, will still easily get the new variants. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2206576
  2. I was just informed by my visa agent that the covid extension rules had " changed recently" and now getting a 30 day exemption on arrival, will require you to first apply for a 30 day extension before you can apply for a 60 day covid extension. Anyone know anything about this?
  3. If this peer review study is correct which covers Europe, masks are useless. https://www.cureus.com/articles/93826-correlation-between-mask-compliance-and-covid-19-outcomes-in-europe Conclusions While no cause-effect conclusions could be inferred from this observational analysis, the lack of negative correlations between mask usage and COVID-19 cases and deaths suggest that the widespread use of masks at a time when an effective intervention was most needed, i.e., during the strong 2020-2021 autumn-winter peak, was not able to reduce COVID-19 transmission. Moreover, the moderate positive correlation between mask usage and deaths in Western Europe also suggests that the universal use of masks may have had harmful unintended consequences. The explanation given at https://principia-scientific.com/positive-correlation-found-between-mask-usage-and-covid-deaths/ explains the peer reviewed article quite well. Here's a parphrasing of the principa scientific article. “The findings presented suggest that countries with high levels of mask compliance did not perform better than those with low mask usage in the six-month period that encompassed the second European wave of COVID-19,”
  4. Indonesia and Malaysia have relaxed their outdoor mask rules, why shouldn't Thailand? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-17/indonesia-relaxes-mask-mandates-scraps-traveler-testing-rule
  5. Give flyer talk a look also. In some of the threads there, there is some specific contact points to expedite the process. I was looking there a few days ago for something else and saw a contact point where a Qatar Air rep could be contacted directly. Sorry I can't remember the actual thread. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar-airways-privilege-club-644/
  6. Good to see Thailand is joining the list of these other 50 countries is making it easy for everyone to get into the country. ( Note they never changed the URL from the original article when only 14 countries had minimal requirements to enter) https://www.traveloffpath.com/14-countries-open-for-unvaccinated-travelers/ Here's a few of the countries Mexico Norway United Kingdom Croatia U.A.E Jamaica Turkey Egypt South Africa Ireland Portugal Israel Iceland Hungary Saudi Arabia Denmark France Sweden Maldives Argentina Czech Republic etc.
  7. Has anyone gotten their approval on a weekend, or know if Thailand Pass works on weekends?
  8. The WHO is the last non governmental body you want to listen to. If they get their way on the upcoming vote, the WHO will have sovereignty over all nations in the UN in mandating how every country needs to act in any " health emergency" that they themselves get to declare without showing any evidence. https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/WHA75/A75_18-en.pdf#page=4 Neil Oliver has a good piece here about this. https://www.gbnews.uk/gb-views/this-so-called-pandemic-treaty-is-the-single-greatest-global-power-grab-that-any-of-us-has-seen-in-our-lifetime-says-neil-oliver/294296
  9. I've asked my current agent, as well as got a reply from another agent, but when I tell them I want some items removed on their coverage ( one of them was something about loss of a baby and I'm non a woman) while some other things I want higher coverage such as cancer, heart issues etc. Both agents so far have only said, " can not" you must just pick a plan. Are there any good world wide expat companies that actually have personalized programs?
  10. I'm flying into a country that requires an RT-PCR test the day before departure. Has anyone gotten one of these here, how long was the turnaround time and the cost? Thank you for any information.
  11. Correct, this topic is about unvaccinated travelers who now just need to show a negative pcr test within 72 hours of travel, at least that was my question. So the question remains, has anyone been able to get their thailand pass within 72 hours of travel after submitting a negative pcr test and not having been vaccinated.
  12. Has anyone here been able to get a pcr test and their thailand pass within the required 72 hours before the flight? It would make sense to provide all info before the 72 hours and have provisional approval upon submission of the pcr test.
  13. I've been with AXA for a number of years, but I'm looking to compare what I've been paying and receiving in benefits to other companies. Does anyone have a good broker that lists benefits side by side from the various insurance companies. FYI, I was just quoted 58K per ( 57 yo) annum which covers just 1,500,000 per year and up to 2,500.000 for "assistance outside of TH" and 750,000K for "Medical expense occuring during the course of traveling outside Thailand". This seems on the very high side to me after reviewing various threads here.
  14. If anyone has a good agent that can issue policies from multiple companies, that would be appreciated. I've been with AXA for years, but it seems their coverage has gone down, while prices have gone up. It's time to renew, so looking for an agent that can send over some sort of comparison of all the companies they represent in a clear and concise format.
  15. Thanks! Seems quite reasonable pricing wise.
