Does not it take more paper works compared to a Single entry TV? Single entry TV is a breeze for me now that I have all the required documents are in my OneDrive folder. Just need to get a new printout for the bank statement.

My inviter posted a few Tik Tok movies with some great night club scene. Not sure how long they are open. I am OK if they are open till 12 mid-night. Would like to go to bed by 2AM anyway.
-
Nope the initial entry is a TR visa from the USA. I always get TR visa from the USA. And with eVisa now it is a breeze. That covers me for three months. For my six month stay, I need another TR visa or two visa exempt entry.

I was not considering mini van to Laos. What I was saying that two border runs from Pattaya is 10K and they are by mini vans, boring and tiring. I can buy a direct flight from DMK to VET for less than < $120. I also need a Thai visa for my second leg of 6-months stay. I can kill two birds with one stone. Get a visa and a tour Vientiane and a night club visit that my inviter posted in Tik Tok.

I will be in Pattaya. I can go to other places but I never been to Vientiane and I have an invitation now to go to Vientiane but there is no obligation for me to go. If I go to Vientiane, I will have a companion to show me around and I see some fun filled night clubs in Tik Toks. Two border runs from Pattaya is around 10K and most probably sitting in a van all day. Very tiring and boring I assume. I see flights are cheaper to many neighboring countries. My favorite place was Penang before Covid-19.

I don't drink beer any more unless very drunk drinking gin-tonic.

That's exactly I am doing. Immigration did not ask me anything twice when I extended my TR visa but I saw the officer opened it and checked it. May be matched my address with the form and TM-30? I don't own the condo but I have a lease for 10-years so my address is not going to change for at least 10 years.
-
I have a condo (not owned but have a 10-year lease) in Pattaya and my TM30 is registered once (in 2020) for that condo as my address when I purchased through an agent a retirement extension during Covid-19. I have entered twice in 2022 using Tourist visa and extended it at Jomtien immigration. There was no problem at all and nobody said anything to me about TM30. Planning to do the same again in 2023. My understanding is only when I change my passport (e.g. get a new one), I have to register it again.

It is the time again for planning my 6-month stay in Thailand from March 15 to Sept 15. Planning to get a Thai TR visa at USA and extend it once. Hop to Vientiane and get another tourist visa and then extend it again. Can somebody please post how easy and the process to get a Thai visa in Vientiane. Never been to Vientiane but I have an invitation to go to Vientiane. Is it better to get a Thai visa at Vientiane or two border runs flying from Bangkok to Udon Thani and then crossing the Friendship bridge? Please post your tips and tricks. I see round trip tickets are available from BKK to VTE for < $120 now. Is visa on arrival available at VTE for US passport holders? Thanks

Just did the same for US dollar and it shows XE.com is more. So, it means it depends on the currency you convert. For dollar, XE.com better and for Euro Wise is better.

Unless you go to Soi Bua Khao or Walking street at night, there is nothing wrong in Pattaya, or Jomtien for a family trip. Nice place and I like it.

Bank insists I wear a mask
Onerak replied to happydays's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I said bottom of the barrel living in Thailand with retirement or "wife visa". Are you bottom of the barrel? Then may be you're lucky to have an elite visa. I did not say smart visa or LTR visas or even business visas or work visas. 80% members of this forum are living on retirement or "wife visa" -
Bank insists I wear a mask
Onerak replied to happydays's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
This is exactly the reason why Thailand does not allow visas for more than year even to people who are married to Thai nationals. Nobody will decline to say no mask if they go for their annual renewal. I can now see the bottom of the barrel foreigners who come to Thailand to live on a retirement visa or "wife visa" and their arrogance. And Thai immigration knows this and this the the exact reason they don't approve visas for more than one year at a time. They want to keep these arrogant people under control with their 90-day reporting, TM-30, and yearly extension, etc. etc. They won't say it in public but they know these types of people. -
US residents with Medicare and MediGap plan G
Onerak replied to Onerak's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Is not all G plan are supposed to be the same as per US laws? If you know for certain, please answer. I don't want guess works. I clearly asked if somebody has enrolled in Plan G, I want their feedback not random guess work from self proclaimed expert's opinions. Thanks anyway for information that is not all useful at all to me. Paying out of pocket is not a problem (that's what my credit cards are for with one million USD credit) for me as I do for my current insurance out side the USA and get reimbursed 50%. Also, yes I understand it will be for emergency only. Not to replace my kidney, if required. -
I did not care. I only care about how much I get in THB compared to Wise. And it shows 68 baht more for a $100 transaction. Next week I will check $500 and see the difference. As I send $500 baht every week, I can then multiply the difference by 52 to get how much I would save in a year. Why am I going to fog my brain with their fees, rates, etc. etc.? The 17K I assumed using 68 (baht difference) x 5 (for $500 transaction) x 52 (weeks of transaction) = 17,680.

I don't want to make this complicated by conversion rate, ATM, multiple exchange rates blah bah blah. My above experiment involved sending $100 at the same time through XE.com and Wise.come (may be within 5 minutes). My metric was how much I got in my Thai bank account. I found the difference is 68 baht. That amounts to 17K+ in one year if I send $500 every week to Thailand. And 17K is more than what I pay for my yearly condo expenses. Every week I send $500 to my Thai bank. From now on I will check both when I am ready to send money, and I will use the one that gives me more. It is that simple. As I said I don't care how long it takes. I always have enough in my Thai bank and have access to one million USD in credit cards. So I am not desperate for instant money. The reason for my posting is to get feed back from people who use XE.com regularly and their experiences with XE.com. And also, I would like to know if Bangkok bank will deduct money when they receive the money shown in XE.com transaction?

I m not yet 65 but soon I will 65 in a couple of years. I spend 50% in Thailand and doing lots of research of Medicare plans watching mainly YouTube videos and reading articles at Medicare website. I found that Medigap G covers foreign travel. Does anybody use this and if so will it cover for my 6-month stay in Thailand? At present I have a high deductible PPO health plan with an HSA MC that is loaded with 20k+ USD and it covers 50% for out of Network. I have used in foreign countries, including Thailand and they reimbursed 50% of all expenses. Looking for similar coverage when I switch to Medicare at 65.
-
If you have a US insurance, you can check if that covers international or not. I have US based high deductible insurance with an HSA (pre tax) MC. It is a PPO so out of network they only pay 50%. I used it twice so far in Thailand and once in Amsterdam and they reimbursed 50%. And the HSA MC is accepted in private hospitals in Thailand.

Using Thai Banking App on a US Sim
Onerak replied to kokesaat's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I use Bangkok Bank app in the US. The only time I needed an OTP is when I added a new recipient and want to save the recipient info for future use. The recipients that are already in my saved info, did not require any OTP validation to send money. -
Now that I have two accounts registered, I will do a check every time I want to send money to Thailand. If Wise is better, I will use Wise and if XE.com is better, I will use XE.com. I did an experiment with Remitly also but the total was less, hence I did not report. My experiment involved $100 and I see the total sent to my Thai account.
