1. I call some responses " pathetic " . You refer to that as a personal attack? You called it " It's the most ridiculous thread that I've ever read"

    I guess thats not personal.

Stalked you? Oh gosh............actually, I had read your previous posts as you placed them on the forum. Is that researching and stalking ?

    Then don,t post.

    Paranoid.

For your information..............you will never have enough for an investment visa but you will have to research to find out why.

Just try not to stalk any posts on that subject ok?

  2. Quite a few pathetic responses.

Posters like that......they deserve to live in a country racked by anarchy.

You are one of the very people in Camp B.

I tried not to point out individuals. But people like you will use negative adjectives against people differing from your point of view, even if it doesn't apply to the situation.

People like you are impossible to have a conversation with. You spew out things like "pathetic" if it doesn't agree with your point of view.

And of course, people who don't want to risk being attacked by a lunatic deserve to live in anarchy.

It is outrageous responses like this that make you a joke. How can someone take you seriously if you insult and flame everyone who doesn't agree with you?

So let's round up everyone from Camp A and deliver them to anarchy. Yes they deserve it for siding against you in this argument. Take their jobs away, their lives, their homes, and throw them into anarchy.

    Yes, you're a real winner.

    Thank you. :o You,re not.

In case you have missed the point, I,ll spell it out for you...........Outofocus.

    Its about " attitude "

Some people will turn a blind eye and some will not. I will not. I can only hope you are never in a situation where you will require help or a response to some villainy that may befall you. Like 4 Thais kicking your head in. For fear of revenge I won,t help you. I would assume that is Ok with you? No intervention ?

Having read your earlier posts it seems that you are not even in Thailand, let alone Pattaya. Teaching English in Asia and you are asking about what you have to do to be qualified here in 2 years time? Like we all know. :D T.I.T

Seeing as how you are lurking about on the Pattaya forum then yes, if you come to this region you WILL need a criminal records check. ( AKA.......Subject access report )

Is that a problem for you Mr. OutofFocus?

As far as TEFL, TESOL, CELTA are concerned, it is NOT a requirement that you have them ( according to the R&R of the MoE )

I guess you are not a winner huh? :D

  3. Wrong. The thread is thirteen months of complete nonsense. My post took 10 minutes to write.

Not long winded either, It was concise and to the point. It needed to be that long to completely express my thoughts on the issue.

    In your opinion.

    :o

Boring? That is completely in the eye of the beholder.

    Correct. As above.

Mine took 18 seconds to write.

    ( Reason for edit : timing :D )

  4. I'm really sorry to say that I've read this ridiculous thread from page one. Being a bit of a new kid on the block, I wondered at the marvel that is this ever-existent thread for thirteen months.

From my objective point of view, I've deduced that there are two bitterly divided sides of the argument for this.

Camp A says that a free sandwich or helping some owner you don't even know is not worth the risk or danger of being attacked by a lunatic.

Camp B says that Camp A is basically greedy, on the low end of society, of poor taste, poor attitude, pathetic, etc.. for not agreeing with the OP.

What Camp B is doing is called, "Fallacy of Argument from Outrage"

    http://keithdevens.com/wiki/Logical+fallacies

It's impossible to have a reasonable discussion or debate with people like that of Camp B, because they'll just use words like "silly" and "pathetic" to dismiss any idea or thought that is in disagreement with their own.

Furthermore, Camp B has revived this thread from 13 months of dormancy just to further flame and re-argue an argument that's been done and over with for a year.

They're even requoting posts from 13 months ago just to make the same arguments against them that were made the first time. And they are still flaming Camp A for these past quotes, even though everything has been discussed and revised a long time ago.

Actually, no. I'm not sorry I read this thread. It's the most ridiculous thread that I've ever read. So at least it's some kind of superlative.

Not because of the original argument, for which I think there are good points on both sides, but because of the way its been argued by the "red in the face" Camp B who is still angry after 13 months.

    :o:D:D:D:D:D

Its even more ridiculous that you took the time to write such a long-winded and boring response. :D

  5.
If you have your own company, than you will also have to use the services of a bookkeeper, among other things fo file your tax return. Let the bookkeeper help you with the paperwork needed to apply for a work permit.

unfortunately the lawyer and accounting offices will not help you for those papers, the prices are not those of bangkok 6500 bath for the work permit (sunbelt rates), here it's 15000 up to 20000.

i have indeed a few questions:

    - Can i give them photocopies of the required papers from the company, like the registration?

    - The company will not have income per year superior of 1.2 million bath, i read that the VAT registration(for the company) is not needed in such cases but on the required papers i see they ask for phor por 01 or 20?

    - My occupation will be in freelance thus not fixed revenues, what is the minimum income i can set for that kind of work(i heard from the accounting desk that the minimum income is set according to your occupation and has nothing to do with the minimum income per nationallity)?

    - The duration of employement will be yearly, but now my visa is only three months , i read it's dependent of your visa lenght, can i set an occupation of 1 year and then extend my WP every three months?

    - Do the papers have to be filled in in thai or can i do it in english?

    - Can i set different jobs like consultance, marketing and sale as occupation?

    thank you

Is this a troll? Hire a lawyer.

  6. I've posted a question here and didn't get much of a response. I know some of you have the answers, could you please share? I'm sure your answer may be, "Check the forums" but I have and I still cannot find my answer.

I am an American living in Chiang Mai, I need to get a tourist visa. Is it possible to get one in Cambodia? I've read dozens of posts about Cambodia, but not a clear answer. Does anyone know if it's possible to get one?

I've been to Cambodia 2-3x in the last 6 months already. I cannot enter Thailand without a tourist Visa, so it's pretty important I make the right decision. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  7. Wishful thinking PB. :D

As part of our bilingual efforts...............we do have a Social Studies book for P3 which goes into great detail about the Brighton ( UK ) seaside..............................50 years ago.

And a very informative 3 pages about the Island of Mull. :o ( I can already imagine lots of TV members even now looking on wikipedia for some useful facts about the Island ) :D

    Threw it in the bin.

  8. Can't remember who wanted a trade ticket but I'll tell you that it does not exist. However, you can wind you neck in as it would have been aggregated with lots of others. Most likely, the ex FIL posted it on his account and transferred the requisite number of shares to the SIL.

I was in the markets from the early 90's way past 2000 and we all had accounts. I was not a managing director or "big boss" but in the middle I suppose. As long as you were not directly involved with an IPO etc. then the Chinese Walls were sufficient to stop insider trading (really ?).

If you really want to have some fun then look at the London listing of Billiton (now BHP Billiton) lead underwriter Kleinwort Benson. Everyone knew there was a massive overhang in the market and they were haemoraging money each day eating into their underwriting fees.

Of course we were short. Why not ? But we didn't do it on individual tickets.

So to the OP - I believe you and don't worry what the detractors say.

    You called that correctly.

I,m not worried about JacknDanny..........I figure him for being a miserable jealous Brit. :o

  9. Quite a few pathetic responses. Misterfingers post stands out for its sheer........errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, you get the idea.

My wife has a small business and works hard. If any of her staff are ripping her off we surely do want to hear about it from customers.

And no.........we ain,t so rich we can afford to be ripped off.

You see where I,m going with this Misterfingers and all the other weird people who ignore whats under their noses?

Tell you what..............if you have your own condo or house and I,m walking by, minding my own business, when I see a Thai male breaking in.............you happy I carry on by? Or would you be grateful that I called the cops and they caught him before making off with all your valuables?

You,d be wetting yourself with gratitude.

Posters like that......they deserve to live in a country racked by anarchy.

  10. I have no interest in either VT7 or JCC but like to follow the local market. I am just an impartial observer though I admit to a wry grin when I picked up this magazine today. Talk about promtion...

    post-22319-1204459599_thumb.jpg post-22319-1204459555_thumb.jpg

I have no interest in either. Reading that " article " seems like a good reason NOT to buy property in Thailand.

Foreigners daring to complain? Bothering the court system?

Lets hope that if the VT7 is completed and subsequent problems arise..say due to poor construction or sinkage ( it is close to the sea ) then equally no owners of VT7 will dare to " bother the courts " or " complain "

    :o

  12. One director of a school I used to work at studied at the University of Nebraska and at the weekend used to drive to the ocean and spend time watching the ocean waves and the palm trees. It was only a 20 minute drive from her apartment!

Good for her!! I wish I could do the same !

But what, exactly, is the point of your post??

  13. Isn't it curious that this esteemed leader goes to BKK to greet an acknowledged crook ]sorry alledged] and then comes out with this decree?

The place is so corrupt it defies belief.

Well...............if its so corrupt you won,t want to stay here huh?

  14. I see a few references to an Investors Visa via BOI with a THB10 million investment in government bonds or bank. Is this still an option?

If not, how do "retired" guys with no pension under 50 with plenty of available cash married to Thais get a visa long term?

Have you tried the Thai Elite card? Gives you a 5 year renewable visa. http://www.thailandelite.com/ - it has lots of detractors from people who can't afford it, but at 1.5m its still fairly good value IMHO.

Hhahahahhahah Good value?? Best laugh all day. 5 years of 90 day border runs ?

Let me see. Return flight to the UK..average 40-50k baht.

Multi Non Imm O from Hull on basis of visiting friends, family. Mmmmmmm 7000 baht?

Times all that by 5 = 285,000 baht max. I,ll buy my own round of golf thanks. :o

  15. I had ordered some parts from India through Paypal after 7 weeks no delivery I contacted Paypal and told them I had not received anything on my order and the company was not responding to my emails. Paypal basicly said it wasn't there problem, to work it out with the vendor. How you do that when he would not reswpond to emails I don't know. So I contacted my Visa card bank that I had paid Paypak with. They said it could take up to 60 but they would get right on it.

So if you have a non-delivery problem with Paypal it is your problem not theirs. PAYPAL SUCKS. :o

Paypal have done the right thing here and are not at fault. You did not pay Paypal anything, you merely used there payment Gateway to pay someone for goods with your credit card. Only your credit card company can instigate a charge back, not Paypal.

This is a very common problem for Paypal as people get confused with the actual meaning of "method of payment". You hear so many people say "But I paid by Paypal !!??" You did not pay by Paypal, you paid by credit card via Paypal's payment Gateway !!

Paypal is NOT a method of payment and they have never claimed to be.

    Ridiculous comment.

Paypal can and do reclaim money from an account in the event of non-descriptive transactions.

And since when has ANY " payment gateway " been able to hold onto an account holders money for a period of six months in the event of closure?

  16. Well, its a certainty that the Thai authorities will even now be requesting police background checks from their counterparts in the UK.

I think it is quite likely that the cards were skimmed in the UK and then they brought them here to use. That COULD explain why there is no bank card machine found in the hotel. The " black bag " would be of concern to the police though, if the report is true.

If she has no involvement, a clear background check from the UK will help her case, along with statements from the two idiots confirming she knew nothing about what they were up to.

To the " saint04" The reason why many expats get angry at these kind of things is because pretty much they try to live quiet respectable lives in a different country. Reports such as these along with Brit drug pushers and lager louts tars of all us with the same brush, in the eyes of the Thai people.

  17. Hi.

I,ve been ebaying since I came to Thailand, 3 years ago.

I gave up on Paypal. The cost of currency conversion at 10% was ridiculous.

I have used moneybookers for the last year on Ebay with no problems whatsoever. They are a company approved by Ebay to be used on their site ( they would obviously prefer paypal but have to be aware of the Monopolies Acts ) If any client has a problem with the goods or start screaming fraud, they can refer back to the credit card company for compensation.

Ebay and Paypal are NOT the same company but they are owned by the same parent. There is a diffference.

I have used the Thai Post Office on many occasions ( signed for ) and never had any problems. Howevere, be aware that even the Thai registered system is not approved by Paypal due to its ( non trackable journey ) in the UK and Europe. If a customers says it never arrived, chances are Paypal are going to refund them and you are out of pocket. It does register though through the USA UPS system once it arrives in the States ( go figure ).

For more expensive items........ALWAYS use EMS or FEdex or such like.

    Good luck.
