  1. Can't feel sorry about dead drug dealers ,. if i found a dealer trying to push drugs to my kids , i would also shoot first and ask questions latter,.

Ha ha ha, I wondered how long it would be before this thread brought out one of these nutcases!!! :o

I,m with Ray08 on this one. They can drop dealers off the 24th floor of a condo unit for all I care.

  2. I have been informed that the Governor of Chonburi has received a letter to inform them that Anti Corruption Department in Bangkok has started an investigation of Pattaya City Hall and the VT7 building permit. This doesn't look good for the intern court decision. Rayon court has not given a final decision so the injunction could be restated.

Some more of the collected dreams (fantasies ?) of Lookat.

Yes, I heard today a complaint was file at the Supreme Admin Court in Bangkok. It about vt7 construction is now in violation of their court order.

Now we wait and see what happens next. Is this going to be a three story condo?

I read a letter from and signed by Director of Department of Civil Engineering and City Plane in Bangkok to a admin court judge.

I asked my Thai friend who followed the court filings and believe in the Kings good action in setting up a fare court call Administrative Court system about the ruling.

Who said in anger the expert witness was wrong!

Is stopvt7 gloating because he thinks they are going to win? Is he gloating because he keeps saying “Thailand is a country of laws?” I don’t think so.

Matter of fact I also agree that Thailand has laws.

    BANKRUPT VT7!

If (when) the law suit is filed against vt to tear down vt5 and vt3. I been told the Administrative Court will follow the law and tear down these buildings. This act will bankrupt vt.

Then realtor would be brought into the case to fund the liability. Claiming you didn’t know the law is not a defense against liability.

If you purchase for investment a vt condo and sold it then its tore down you are also liable.

LOOKAT. Give it a rest. Do yourself a favour and go and buy something in VT7. Think of those great sea views and the sound of the waves. Then rent out your old place. There will always be a market for older style, cheap accomodation with good views of the new developments like Ocean 1.

    You sound like a child.

  3. Hi.

I want to re-cover the seat on one of my bikes. Nothing fancy....................black with some red piping. Seat is about same size as a Nouvo. I.e.........a twin seat.

Any recommends? Idea of cost please?

Hi steve, coming down pattaya klang turn left onto road 2 ,there is a place about 150 yards down on the right you will see a load of seats outside, he quoted me 400 baht to make and fit, in the end i bought a deicated one off ebay, but seems fair and his work looks ok ,lacks a bit in personality but we cant have it all !

hi mike...call me stupid if you want but are these directions correct as didnt sound right!! ...i want to visit this shop in the near future.....if you go down pattaya klang then i believe u cant turn left onto road 2 as is one way...this would be the crossroads at tops supermarket.did you mean go up pattaya klang from beach rd then turn left and look on right for shop.....or did you mean come down klang and turn left at road 3 and not road 2 .im not being pedantic, just dont wanna get lost .ta.rob

You might have a point Rob. I never found it and I,m still looking. :o

  4. Stand by for a rant...................

Qualifictions = 30 years in the business in various countries, continents and so on. Blah Blah

I've been a School Principal, a Director of Studies, a Deputy Head, and loads of other stuff. Blah Blah Blah

    And my point is ?

Teaching is as much an art as a science.

There are two kinds of teachers.

Those that just do it, and those that are trained.

Of the two I've always tended to those that can just perform because that's what I do, however, some of the best teachers I've ever met were those that were trained.

My wife pointed out " are the trained any better or any worse than the natural performers?"

Given the fact that she was a brilliant teacher, but suffered from MS it's amazing how well she did. She was trained and her training got her through with great success.

    So, to the point.

I'm sick and tired of these people who believe that they're in any way qualified to teach simply because they've achieved a certain level of higher education.

Parents, think about it. The fact that Bob has a degree in ..... whatever... does NOT qualify him/her to teach kids, work with kids, interact with kids.

If you haven't gone through a bona fide, verifiable, teacher training course i.e. PGCE or BEd. etc . etc. AND got a police clearance covering at least the last 6 years, regardless of where you were you should not be in the business.

The courses may not be perfect. You may wish for more. BUT, you will at least get a basic grasp of child phsychology, a bit of a feel for personality crisies, an idea of the cognitive theory and, hopefully a sense of what it means to be effective.

You are not there to be liked, but to do a job. To aid the development of the kids, regardless of what the parents say.:o

    End of rant

    Time for a beer

    Sorry

    Cheers

    Keep drinking.

Personally, I think if any person has a higher than thou attitude, a desire to rant often, needs to resort to drinking and cannot spell.......................they too should not be in the profession. :D

  5. There may be more for sale but I doubt the turnover rate is any more than what it has always been. I would guess that since this bogus company deal could blow up at any time, people are not willing to put money in what could turn out to be a disaster. I know I certainly would not be interested in buying something I couldn't legally own.

Could it possibly be the fact that a 90+ story condo is going up next door.

    1 year of pile driving

    5 years of construction work

    ............................................................

Urrrrrggggggggggg. Lots of lovely concrete dust to clean every day. For approx 1800 days. :o

  6. name='Basil B' date='2008-02-19 02:55:01' post='1826379']

Anyway if what has been said is true then I have no sympathy for this idiot, UK gov should take passports off these type of people.

Hope you have never, and will never be in a position of authority

We have read your views in other threads,

Now you want to take someone’s passport of them.

What a scary guy. you are.

Nothing scary about it at all.

The UK government already do this ( temporarily confiscate passports ) on a regular basis involving known football hooligans ( subject to banning orders ) in order to prevent violence at England away matches.

  7. Sorry Tax but if Meg_Kens post is correct it does sound a fishy IMO.

my feeling is that she just wants to get out of the country .

i doubt if she received sympathetic treatment , either at the hospital or at the police station and she just wants out , knowing full well that she is wasting her time pursuing the matter here.

You,re the one that should get first prize for jumping to conclusions.

  8. all of you who THINK you know thailand and asia -know nothing about it. otherwise, youd know its open season on farang. the guys that REALLY know are quite aware you can get bashed for nothing. forget the muggings.

the sheer number of assualts (and those are only reported) as well as the violent nature. its far more than giving someone a wack for being out of line.

all those that post about farang 'deserving it' ive been here 8 yrs on/ff plus another 3-4. i cannot think of anything i have ever seen a farang do to warrant the severe beatings as well as the sheer number in this year alone. they are murders that were not completed.

thais will not give you a smack in a bar. they will call their mates and come at you from the back with iron bars and for what - can someone PLEASE remind me what should instill such anger (in a third party no less?).

it reminds me when i was a kid going to mexico. when i was a noob i thought everything was cool. then, i wised up and saw a darker side. then, i thought i understood it and it was all under control. then i realized that if i put myself in vulnerable positions i could be bashed no matter what i thought i knew about the country/scene. your comfort level of places lulls one into a FALSE sense of security. note: false

i know pattaya well and can tell you a monumental change has taken place here in three years and im not talking a building boom. yes, it never was angelville, surely. but there is a total coarsening of people here, men AND women. the absolute worst thais have migrated here for your fast cash and they will happily kill you for it. even the bar girls will send a moto driver after you if they feel they did not get their due.

people forget how poor and desparate many of these people are. how fast and easy robbing and thuggery is and how the police do not care what happens to stoopid farang or anyone else for that matter. they are running their own games, youre in the way making problems... the worst mafia, the cops.

i now look at almost all thais with a great deal of suspicion - all.

yes i am leaving ... 30 days. i will go to ______ and if that does not work _____ but i will not come back to pattaya ever and its doubtful thailand as well.

after 15 years, i have lost faith in thai people 'to do the right thing'. that is a big loss of faith. i cannot say this about any other people in the 36 nations i have lived and traveled.

thais do not like foreigners and it is very appearant to anyone that has any sort of perceptive abilities.

but i know ...oh not YOU. you have it covered -BAH. your turn is coming, just like the wandering guy who got thugged on beach road a few days back.

ask yourself IF this WERE to happen to me. what would i do? answer...nothing. go to hospital, pray you dont die. no cops, no help from watching farang, from watching thais. go home alone -

i bet those estonians are still laid up in hospital.

its murder - plain simple. pattaya is finished. whether you see it or not. it died in 2004. we are simply living on broken dreams. they are living on our broken bones.

You should write for " The Sun ". They love stuff like this. :o

  9. For what its worth I have one of these buggers

It says among other things, "No criminal record or sex offender information was found. Fingerprints were provided, and thus the result of the search is assured." It is notarized by the Highway Patrol and also certified by the Secretary of State.

I don't want to sound like a credentialist or anything but...

I think it should and will eventually be required. It is for the good of the education system.

Higher standards equates to higher pay due to supply and demand.

Put youself in my position why should I have to compete against anybody for a job who cannot produce at the standard required for certification of a persons character.

I agree. However, a teacher in the UK/USA offered a job in Thailand may not be able to wait the 40 days for it to come through before applying for the non-imm B.

A teacher in the UK would already have been subjected to the full police check and should be able to provide a copy given to him / her by his current employer

  10. Wrong on both accounts old boy, 92 kilos and eat like a horse !,. well have to agree to disagree im afraid, :o and i wasnt insulting you, its an english thing, called a sense of humour !

Ok, now I understand, it's "an English thing".

I'll let you into a little secret. Sense of humour varies from country to country. Careful how you use it.

    Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

  11. Some people have to pay, others don't (thai or farang). Guess it depends on age and a few other likewise factors.

    Exactly.

For instance were Bambina to be my gyk, i would probably have to adopt the 'ah-seea' role, and buy her lots of things.

But typically, couples of similar age and interest it is mostly for fun, no strings attached.

Commonplace for farang wives to get hit on, because, let's face the sad reality here, there is the perception that some foreigner's wives are willing to engage in such behaviour especially in cases where the husband is not based in Thailand; the wife gets lonely tralahalalaha boogily boo yada yada yada .

    Sad but true.

If I had a quarter for every married wife of a farang that had hit upon me, I'd have like....almost $1.

I seem to remember you writing before that you are luk kreung, with a Thai mother and farang father. So am not sure why you then appear to be gloating about infidelity of Thai wives married to farang.

But as they say, up to you!

    :o

  12. .

Having lived in Thailand for many years and now in the Uk with my Family we would like to come back there in the future but one thing that does distress me is the fact that a farang, whether right or wrong is always wrong when driving on the roads.

I don't think I have ever heard of one incident where the Thai was blamed.

God knows what your experiences have been...unless its just by reading other posters.

I,ve had 2 accidents in cars in Thailand. Neither my fault. Police involved in both ( BKK and Korat ). Blame was put onto the shoulders of the Thai drivers. I was not asked to pay anything and we all went on our merry way afterwards.
