Anyone used the 'on line' 90 day report system on the Jomtien immigration website?
Does it work?
P
No, not yet, and if my info is correct it never will.

........... or the reporters adding lurid details to sell newspapers. I strongly suspect the latter.
Fully agree, the curse of our times : tabloids and media hype
The proverbial grain of salt no longer enough, nowadays you need truckloads.
Sad, very sad !!!!

Has anyone actually used the TLM fast-track as yet? I am thinking of going for the silver. I just sent them an email
I used this service on February 7th this year. It was very good. I was met off the plane taken straight thru immigration (VIP channel) bags collected and they even told my wife in a waiting car to arrive at a certain time. I was off the plane form the Uk thru immigration and in the car in 10 minutes flat. Cost 1500 baht but i see they had removed the one time trial off their website now??
I come 3-4 times a year and often experience long delays which is not so good after 13+ hours travelling.
It is still in place. Just send them an email for details, oh and thanks for the update.
cheers

I received my silver card a few days back.
They waited for me at the gate from my incoming flight from Phuket and escorted me al the way to check-inn and lounge for my international flight.
I explained to them that this was not necessary as i fly business class but they politely replied that this was also an learning session for one of there new staff.
I have to say they where very polite and carried my luggage and so on.
Yes you have to pay a fee of course but i think it is money well spend.
I fly on an monthly basis and because of the new regulations I have to do the immigration in BKK .
After an long flight the last thing i want to do is waiting an long time before the immigration counters.
Until about 6 months ago the lines where just fine but from 6 months until now the immigrations halls are just packed with people. ( I arrive always around 13:00 ).
Because I have to get an domestic flight I don't have too much time for this kind of delays and besides that I just hate it.
So in the end I think it is money well spend.
Thanks for the update

Take route 7 towards the Bangkok Motorway.
You pass the Sri Racaha area, but before you reach the motorway proper, you will see a huge area full of wooden salas for sale off the left side of the road. When you turn in, you will be amazed at the quantities, sizes and styles - everything form the ones shown in this thread to fully fledged two storey, 3 bedroom teak houses.
The prices there are much cheaper than those places on the way to Bang Sare and beyond, and you are spoilt for choice - believe me.
You can bargain them down, and they will deliver and erect.
It is a family firm (wholesale and retail), and they also supply many of the sala sales places in the Pattaya area, where obviously the prices are inflated.
You won't be disappointed if you go and have a look. It's maybe 25 minutes drive from Pattaya.
Cheers Mobi
I will try and find the place when I am back from work.
Do you have a name or contact number for the place? I have seen a few small places along that route, but none that size.

Hi there,
Bought mine there 4 years ago. Had a small water leakage in the roof after abt 6 months and after 1 phonecall, they came and fixed it free of charge.
Mine seats 6 people easy and is very sturdy. The wood is treated against vermin.
Here some details :
Company : Baan Ruen Thai
tel.: 018170002 and 0410030009
fax 02.5893332.
Paid 56.000 Baht for mine, where similar here in Pattaya around 100.000 Baht. They have different models with different prices, and they use good quality hardwood.

Most of the enterprises mentioned are State owned and as such are owned by the citizens, just set it in your mind that the price you pay is the correct price and Thai price is discounted because they own it,after all ,there have to be some benefit for being a Thai in your own country.
Exactly

Racism is in this nowadays very politically correct world a word that is constantly being misused.
I'm a belgian elderly citizen (over 65). I have a card that allows my FREE public transport i.e. trams and buses, in Belgium, amongst other benefits of having paid my dues.
Is this racism?
If the Thai government decides that they favor there citizens over foreigners, have I got news for you, there's nothing anyone can do about it, and so it should be. Oh, and I don't for one minute believe that the Thai government is only letting us in to empty our pockets. They allow us to spent our money here to obtain levels of comfort, service, adventure and living conditions at prices far below what we would have to pay in our home countries.
Be grateful.
My 2 cents

Wow, a whopping 100 Baht more per night!!
The end of the world is near, a 1000 Baht increase for a 10 night stay.
It must be a racist scam against farangs.

Surely the will relates to where you are when you die and where your assets are,
not your country of origin??
I suggest you check with the Belgian Embassy to be sure, but think you need a Thai lawyer.
Correct,
Copies to be handed to Embassy for safekeeping in your file, plus instructions of what to do with your mortal remains.
Preferable wills from both partners, after all she might die before you.
Have given all details and contacts at embassy by PM to OP.

I'm a Belgian national, married to an Indonesian national (with no Belgian passport), we have 2 small children who both have Belgian and Indonesian nationality.
Haven't been in my home country for a long time and can't really check on the law, but accordng to my parents I do not need to write a will because if anything happened to me, all my possessions would automatically be transfered to my wife.
Anyone out there familiar with Belgian inheritance laws who could give me a word of advice on this and confirm if this is correct, even if my wife does not have Belgian nationality ? Appreciate.
I'm Belgian, and here's what I did.
I have a letter signed by me with my last wishes deposited in my file at the Belgian Embassy.
If you want further information plse PM me and will gladly give all the details, which I don't want to spread all over the internet.
Cheers

The Ministry of Interior is preparing a change of legislation which will be applied retroactively from April 1st, 2008 onwards. Farangs older than 86 years can now own land (not exceeding 1 Rai) if they register the purchase in the Land Office accompanied by both parents.
Nice one

Perhaps you may ask the Belgium Embassy to grant your girlfriend a visa as an extended family member, based on a "durable relationship" with a EEA national.
After your girlfriend is considered as a lawful resident in Belgium on this basis, she may apply for an EEA family permit to visit the UK with you.
Yes, you are right.
I checked with the Belgium Embassy in Bangkok and they say a Co-habitation visa is needed for stay in Belgium.
Then for weekend trip(s) to go visit family the UK when staying in Belgium can apply for Shangen visa(s) .
Regards
Arran.
You might have been misinformed. As far as I know GB is NOT a member of the Schengen agreement.

Ahhh great! I'm sure it wont be 4000 baths for 2 weeks, like the 250B one
You might want to reconsider. The long term parking is far away from the terminal with not so good bus connections. If you have no or little luggage then no problem but please keep in mind that it's open air parking with little or no security.

The amount of jobs on building sites now in pattaya is incredble but there is a shortage of workers
This was the case all ready when I first moved to Thailand, and that's 19 years ago.
Nothing new there.
And let's not forget that constructors want cheap labour, who don't make problems about safety issues, housing etc.

Agree with all of the above, it shouldn't be allowed.
My biggest gripe however is, one can only overhear half of the conversation.

TokyoT, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe baggage to the US is measured, width x length x depth. Weight is irrelevant. Neva had baggage weighed for US.
Ok I will correct you.
The bags cannot be more than 32 Kilos each.

Looking at the prices above - is budget airline travel really worth it - for an international flight?
On paper, I save 1.5 hours travelling into Brisbane (but I spend 3 hours in KUL). I save $147 by choosing Air Asia X over Thai Airways. I have to pay for my own meals, blanket, pillow etc and because Air Asia X is a point-to-point airline, I have to walk 350 metres across the LCCT in KUL, 'enter' Malaysia at Immigration, find my luggage; cart it around with me for 2 hours, then 'leave' Malaysia by getting stamped out of the country and then walk another 350 metres to my plane for the ride to Bangkok.
Can I please have the thoughts of those members who travel economy and pay for their own tickets. Not necessarily Australians - I am interested in your thoughts and story.
Peter
By asking the question, you have already found the answer.
I would not go through all that hassle just for maybe saving a few $ and arrive exhausted at your destination.
Remember the trip is a big part of your holiday, and may spoil the whole experience.
Of course that's my point of view.

I was booked on an AirBerlin flight, leaving Zurich (ZRH) at 08:55 am, arriving in Vienna at 10:10 am with no stopover, connecting me to an EVA Air flight to Bangkok, leaving Vienna at 13.30 the same day.
I am in possession of AirBerlin’s confirmed e-ticket and the flight itself has been paid for and charged to my MasterCard quite a while ago.
Yesterday I received from AirBerlin an e-mail telling me that for some unforeseen reasons as of now the flight has been re-scheduled, leaving Zurich at 13.15 am, flying then first to Berlin and arriving in Vienna at 20:35 pm the same day. By this time EVA Air will have left for Bangkok already.
This has never happened to me before with confirmed flights in my 30 years of air travel. I have not yet approached AirBerlin. What are my rights in such a case? What can be claimed for from AirBerlin, i.e.
a re-scheduled flight one day earlier and what about hotel costs?
Thank you for your help.
I believe the only right you have is cancellation with full refund. They have sold you a service that doesn't exist anymore.
cheers and good luck
