  1. Another unappointed Policeman of the world, Mmm, can only have a guess where he is from, dont beat about the bush, ( or perhaps you should)?

As for the plane crash incidents you refer to, I take your word for that as I dont recall seeing them, but consider this, how many uk persons are members of this site and how many chinese members are there, its not racism or any other prejudice , get over it please :o

    Dear roygsd,

You only have to look at my avatar to notice that I'm from Flanders, and as far as I know that's not in the US.

If you don't like other nationalities posting on this forum, why don't you stop beating around the bush and just say so.

    Drive safely

  2. 1. Yes, the OP is flying from Thailand to Manchester (UK).

    2. Yes, and the OP is seeking sensible advice regarding an act of smuggling.

    3. No.

This is a relevent topic, since opportunities are available for all kinds of contraband items to be smuggled into ones home country, whether it be tobacco, alcohol, Rolex fakes, football shirts etc.

Most people realise that this is illegal and TV responses emphasize (it). It seems now that the OP is sufficiently fearful of prosecution that he/she will take only one carton of cigarettes back to the UK.

Since you seem to find it necessary to climb all over my back I'll reply to your above statement.

    1) Where does it say OP is flying from Bangkok to Manchester. He mentioned Abu Dhabi didn't he.

    2) I rest my case, or isn't smuggling an illegal act?

    3) I have no time to waste on researching all the topics that have been closed because not Thai related but believe me there haven been plenty. I remember one instance where a topic of an aircraft accident in china was closed but at nearly the same time the topic about the plane crash in London was allowed to run forever, although the aircraft did not come from Thailand.

I don't like double standards period.

  3. Three questions.

    1) Is this topic Thai related?

    2) Is this topic about breaking the law?

    3) If this was about customs in France, Germany, The Netherlands or whatever other country, wouldn't it be closed already?

    Cheers

  5. no worries, and its a proven fact that surfing thai visa will expand your knowledge base.... :D

Yes, as where to not pick your nose, how to use the bum gun, find the cheapest for everything including private detective, how to participate in a poll, why you don't HAVE to learn Thai, and last but not least how to make Thaivisa more interesting for intelligent people. :o:D :D

    Wow

  6. Depends upon the increase doesn't it? 5% probably won't have an impact, but in excess of 10% will kill the golden goose. I stopped flying TG long hauls 2 years ago because it was cheaper using ANA, EVA and JAL even if it meant the inconvenience of a transfer. The huge savings justified it.

If you are already too expensive, every increase however small has a potential impact. Could be the last drop for a lot of customers.

  7. My sister-in-law recently got divorced from a German man. He is now coming around saying that if he dies, the child will receive no support whatsoever. The reason for all this, I have no idea, but my wife wants me to ask about this, to any of you, who may have the answer. My wife knows, that if I should die, our son will receive survivor benefits until he is 18 years old. I have already done the paperwork should this happen. I would imagine Germany has similar benefits for children. The child in question (my Nephew) lives here in Thailand, he has dual Nationality, and the parents were married 14 years. I cannot read German, nor do I know someone whom I can ask for this info. Please supply the answer should you know it. My wife and her sister, will appreciate your assistance.

No governemnt will pay child support if said child and Mother is living overseas.

The german bloke should take out life insurance then if he kops it your sister-in-law will receive a lump saw, assuming she is the beneficiary name of course.

    HTH

Yes, but it's also true that a father cannot disinherit a child without good reason.

As i said ask for clarification of your legal status at the embassy.

Since the child has dual nationality, my guess is that your sister in law would be best going to the german embassy, to ask for clarification.

  9. Whatever else is going on here on this topic, it's quite clear that the difficult situation in which the OP finds himself is entirely of his own doing, and putting the blame on a 17 year old girl is disgusting. He should deal with it in a responsible and adult manner, all the rest is bull. :o:D :D

  10. Just checking to see if the TV arrivals link is up to date. A while ago a friend's flight was delayed, but the link showed it as having left.

Has anybody else had this happen?

I use flightstats, found them to be more reliable. Note that all these websites have to rely on info from the airports and these are not always cooperative, and some airlines refuse to give this information. Typically it's the airlines with the worst on-time stats that do this. :o

  11. I'd rather fly an old plane non-stop than a new plane and have to stop in the Middle East!

Well contrary to you, I don't mind a stopover as long as its not more than 2 to 3 hours.

Furthermore please bear in mind that older airplanes are a lot thirstier than the new ones, as far as fuel consumption is concerned. Typically it's the airlines that still use the 747's that face difficulties.

  12. Where is the bus station on the Shukumvit to Sri Racha and Laem Chabang?

I think you just ask the bus at the stop if they are going there. Not aware of a station for this short trip. Good question though.

    Northern Bus station.

Buy ticket to Sri Racha on the Bangkok bus. Get out at Robinsons.

  13. My guess is you want to go to the Phiyathai hospital (my preferred hospital).

Depending on traffic driving along Sukhumvit can be anywhere between 30 minutes to one hour, with all the traffic lights on the way.

1000 Baht seams reasonable considering the waiting time in Sri Racha.

Other alternative would be taxi to Phiyathai your first time and come back by bus or local taxi, should be cheaper.

  14. Looking for some Kohn Kane hotel choices. Strongly prefer a nice swimming pool. 1000 baht a night with a weekly rate would be acceptable. I have only been to Bangkok , Pattaya and Ko Samet so far. Time to start foraging further.

    Thanks

    Try www.khonkaen.com.

All the info abt Khon Kaen you might need. Alternately try the Isaan section of Thaivisa.

  15. well thanks for the obvious answer of checking a travel agent, but i rarely use them as buying through an agent often makes tickets less flexible to making changes on them if you need to- or the agents tack on huge fees. i prefer to buy directly from the airline. i suppose i could ask a travel agent who has lowest fares and then go buy from the airline but i thought someone could tell me from experience who was cheapest.

Well, so much for trying to help.

After all, I did only spend about 2 hours on my one day off searching airlines, travel websites and various airlines to see if I could find a cheaper option.

I even tried alternates like flying to Alexandria instead of Cairo, or flying to Dubai and then out of Sharjah on a discount airline.

But no problem. I'll make a note to myself not to bother in the future.

    Good luck.

I gave my recommendation. Egypt Air 25.000 Baht to europe via Cairo (3 month ticket). So Cairo would be cheaper still, and a direct flight from BKK.

Oh well gratitude is hard to come by these days isn't it.
