  1. Don't miss the bird park. It is awesome.

I wouldn't let fear guide me. All you hear on media is printed to make you afraid. Don't see many headlines that Father John built an orphanage. Fear sells. Probably worse in New York City. The natives don't hate us because we haven't gotten around to bombing them into the Stone Age.....yet.

  2. What a perfect product!!! You blow it up and you have to replace it. Planned obsolescence at its grandest. We were warned about the military and the war industry and we didn't take safeguards. Now we are gutting health care and throwing more money at the pigs in the trough. The masters of war are never it's victims, we send our children and sacrifice them to the Gods of War. The last US president who served in the military was G. H. Bush and he left office 25 years ago.

The USA is by far the biggest seller of weapons of destruction in the world and we are selling them to the highest bidder, no matter if they are war criminals or not.

But keep your eye on the tangerine clown, while the band plays on.

  3. I opened an account in Bangkok Bank, Phang Khon and was given a union pay card and I asked for a Visa card as I travel to the states and Europe, was told I could no longer get one, this may be problematic if you go to the states and want to withdraw your money from your thai account. Luckily I have a visa from Bangkok bank that is good until 2021. Also I saw someplace where they don't give Visa cards to anyone over 68.

  4. Wherever you decide to live in thailand you will find your way. You can live at a lot of different levels. I have a friend who keeps a room on the hill above Patong and pays 3000 baht a month, small but you don't need much. Plenty of Thai restaurants and food stands for very little money, Good luck, follow the path that brings you the most happiness. all you need to remember is to wear a smile and not to think that you are somewhere that things should make a lot of sense. Read culture shock Thailand. Also remember that your standard of living is miles above the average Thai and you may look like a meal ticket to some.

I am in Isaan and I have a farm, I am surrounded by a loving Thai family, we have reciprocal relationship. I help them and they help me. They work hard and will share in the profit of the farm. I don't feel taken advantage of, my wife family are not drinkers and they don't smoke. I thoroughly enjoy my life here and every once in a while I go to Chiang Mai, the beach, Bangkok or Bali. Love my life here.

  5. I guess you have health care. Your taxes will go down if you are rich but your quality of life will suffer with the regulations giving you clean air and water are discarded. You get what you pay for and you are paying for the F-35 boondoggle. Remember 2008 and what was left to clean up after.

  6. I was going to go back to the USA for 2 months, but when Trump "won?" the election I cancelled my mainland trip and will visit my daughter in Hawaii, for 3 weeks. After that I am not going back as far as I can tell, becoming a bonafide expat. Up at the farm with a secure gate and the world on the other side. I am 72 now and I will leave it to the younger folk to sort it all out.
