  1. Last paradise has no view at all and is a dump.

Paradise beach bar, go along the Rawai Beach front til the Or Bor Tor office, turn left and then take the next left, go up the hill for 1km and it is signposted on the left.

Go down the hill and sit there just before sunset.

Stay for two hours until the lights come on over Rawai.

Heaven, forget the girlie bars for a while.

And Annie the host is lovely.

Not a dump if you want one of the best burgers around :)

Thats true the burgers are good there.

  3. Grumpy.I hang with a circle of other expats and we don't frequent bars to get the village idiots with rice stuck between their toes.

I like to hang with Thai girls that are educated and don't mind paying their own way in life as well as good conversation over dinner and sense of humor, that's most important to me than a young trophy wife that's half my age that understands every second word i say.

Conversations with 'Hab" or 'Lent' instead of "have" or "rent" don't really get my interest when talking to someone.

I'm sorry but i set my standards a little higher than the bar flies.

If this is what happens when i hit 60, i'll blow my brains out or leave.

I don't know about crime in Nai Harn but it would appear rampant snobbery has broken out in Kata!!!

  4. Depends where you live and the depth of your well.

There is a huge tin content in the water here which discolours the the water and hence your whites, depending on your area (and it can be a couple of hundred metres and where the water is drawn from)

Try and filter it and it is a nightmare, the only real solution is to have a well drilled down to the clean water if you can afford it.

  5. What a joke, typical for here.

Bleeding from a the aorta ask for a band aid.

How about put your house in order and then discuss how to attract more tourists.

A proper newsgroup would be naming names, exposing corruption, instead it always platitudes, scared of upsetting the silent few.

Any media here is a joke.

  6. Is it on the Pier road?

SO if it starts at 7 do you get there before?

Sorry never been to a quiz night but this looks fun.

    how many people per team?

Teams of 4 but just come along and partner up, no-one will be left out!

Head towards Rawai Beach from Chalong Enigma is about 200 metres before the road does a 90 degree right onto the beach road itself.

If you turn up at 7 you will be there before the start so shouldn't miss it.

  7. Rawai Nai Harn Dragon Boat club are having a quiz and Indian Curry Night on the 18th May.

The curries are excellent and there are prizes to win.

Venue is the Enigma bar at the Rawai end of Wiset Rd, starts at 7pm

    All welcome.

You might end up joining the club though!

  8. Yes it is easily walkable, if you went up the main road it would be about 400m but I think you can cut through somewhere.

Maybe 400 m from Boat Lagoon to the main road, then more than 400 m into RPM. You are looking at a good 40 minute hike. I don't think you can cut through as both properties jealously fenced in.

OK so you are looking at about 800m to a 1km walk if you are starting and ending further inside each marina. For me this would take about 15 mins.

Depends on your definition of a hike I guess and also your walking ability. Probably take longer in a Tuk Tuk as you have to do the U-turns/traffic lights.

Is that why your name is Peterocket!!!!!

  9. Next Sunday 8th May.

There is a dragon boat festival on Nai Harn Lake.

Teams of 16 if you can drum up that number, if not come along anyway.

Entry is free, the dragon boating is free as well.

If you come alone you can will still be added to a team if you want to.

Free instruction and safety gear provided as well.

    Food and refreshment is available.

    Starts at 1pm.

    Beginners are welcome.

  10. Just been reading some research that has placed Phuket as the unhappiest region to live out of all 77 provinces, this is a poll amongst Thai's, not farangs.

Seems money can't buy happiness after all.
