  1. Don't think it is snobbery to comment on some of the 'new' arrivals this year.

Personally I couldn't care less about high end and most back packy types I find good company.

But there is/was an arrogant influx this year, nothing to do with money, more to do with manners.

  2. You are on a tourist visa.

Don't have proof of 65,000 income.

    Don't want to transfer 800,000 to a Thai a/c.

Simple mate I am afraid, you can't get a retirement visa legally.

    Options are.

1.Pay a fortune for an illegal hookey one from an agent.

2.Fly home, get a 1 year Non O visa that lasts for 15 months and then get a retirement visa after that.(not that much more than your agents asking for.

  3. It is stange the best posted threads on this website are about sex in any form.

This one is seems to be threatened farang women and guys with the old adage of tits, sex and nubile girls.

If it is a problem to Thai sensibility then let the Thai,s sort it out, their country their rules.Stop putting your values on things.

And for the record I am married to a 53 year old farang, it is nice to window shop and that is ok as it is for her although her opportunities are more limited.

Just get a sodding life people.

  4. Ok I can afford to pay my hospital bills and it will be less in the long run than BUPA etc, I also don't need 800,000 in the bank I have a pension.

The point is times are hard for a lot of people here and the 'better' expats try to stay in the rules, this just makes things harder for them.

It strikes me as another shot in the foot, they only want the mega rich here.

As I was told in immigration one day, spend your money and go home.

Lets have your money and give no service back, the Thai way.

  5. This might be better off in the visa section but it comes from the Cheif Exec in Phuket.

He is pushing for compulsary health insurance and 800,000 in the bank at all times, not just three months.

It seems there is a whole 40 expats in Thai hospitals with no funds and this is too many, forget the thousands of myannmar then.

quoted article deleted as it is from a source that cannot be quoted.

  6. The good samaritan law does not apply here, I hate to say it but as an advanced first aider and casualty extraction trained I still would not help in Thailand, if something can be blamed on the farang it will be, compo is the first thing most people think of here.

  7. Just to let you know, I posted a reward for 50,000B for the return of the rings, no questions asked.

An incredibly kind person has contacted the Gazette and offered to double that amount.

    Restores your faith in humankind.

So if you get the chance could you guys mention that the reward is now 100,000B whilst you are all out and about please?

  8. Just a quick update.

Police think it was Thai or Myanmmar as the hole cut was so small, even the misses who is 8 and a bit stone couldn't get through it.

On the insurance side, just found out that my very expensive Household Insurance from an Australian Company doesn't include Jewelry, laptops or cash. The very things that are likely to be robbed so that is worth checking out if you have it.

  9. Basically they are house dogs but when we leave the house we close the bedroom doors and they stay in the living room, the person knew this and just broke into the bedroom and locked the door from the inside.

The insurance guy was from QBE, quite a big insurer here. Even the police said there was a lot of buralries at the moment so stay safe.

  10. My apologies if ranting was over the top last night and my thanks to the mods for adjusting some of the language.

I have calmed down a bit now.

It wasn't the monetary loss but the the fact they stole things that my wifes mother, grandmother etc had handed down to her. Things that are irreplaceable and sentimental as well as expensive. She is devastated and feels violated.

The police were very good believe it or not but I do wish they didn't say to her that the burglars might return, she is now shitting herself as well, personally a part of me wants them to come back as long as I am in the house.

The insurance guy {Thai} came round and said that Rawai is currently getting hammered with burgalries, even he has been broken into and he and his wife got a good beating as well.

  11. I have posted before about theiving in Rawai.

Came home tonight after being out for three hours to find I have been broken into.

I have security screens, the gits burned through those, all my doors are closed inside and I have two big house dogs inside the house.

They hit the one room they could get my wifes jewelery, left computers in the room, a lot of sri lanka gold and saphires and took everything of sentimental value, some of which was expensive and accumulated over years of death and heirlooms.

We keep ourselves to ourselves we are not party animals and choose our friends carefully.

This was obviously an inside job from Thai's, they knew which room to hit.

What a great end to a dream.

  12. I am not defending him here, but he is innocent until declared guilty by his peers.

No-one knows the full facts on here, that will happen at any court hearing in a calm controlled manner where properly accumulated evidence will be submitted and a proper defense allowed.

So let the armchair warriors go back to spluttering in their Leo's and let justice take it's course.
