  1. There has been a spate of burglaries in Rawai again including the two houses next to me in the last week, in one the burglar hid in the roof until the owner had left before committing the crime and escaping.

Just a reminder to be vigilant and always lock your doors and windows even if you are in the house, any unattended room is easy prey.

Reckon this will only get worse if the coming high season is a low spending bust.

  2. Oh God don't get me started on this crap, build two marinas that boats of mediocre length can actually get into not very often, then put another in a location that can be wiped out in an on season storm, and pray it never happens.

There is 1 marina here that comes any near a proper marina.

If this place ever wants to be considered as a hub for anything you have to give the service not the bullshit.

You want the dosh deliver the service.

  3. Sorry if this in the wrong section Mods.

  5. Its all been said before, he is being held because he violated his bail conditions whilst in the UK by coming to Thailand.

And you don't really need a premeditated plan to do a runner, there are many ways to leave if you really need to.

And if Thailand presents a formal request with compelling evidence and an assurance of no death penalty then extradition is possible.

He can appeal to the European courts after that about the conditions here etc.

    Thats it, not rocket science.

  6. Bloody hel_l Certified, you have the right name, from your ranting it seems you should be!!

FYI to extradite from the UK an official request has to be made with compelling FACTUAL evidence, DNA, fingerprints, eyewitnesses etc.

The UK follows all international guidlines and not the current gung ho american thinking of justice.

UK will not extradite to countires that carry out the death penalty, even to that haven of civilised behaviour, the US, unless assurances are given that the death penalty will not be imposed. They also have to be assured that basic human rights will be adhered to.

To summarise this particular person will serve what is left from his parole violation in the UK [first crime takes precedence] then IF the Thai authorities present a request with evidence on the ALLEDGED crime and assurances that there will be no death penalty the Home Sec will consider the request.

As none of the above have been completed yet how can be extradited??

  7. Piengrudee's response is typical of what is holding Thailand back.

Like it or not it is now a global economy and communications is one of the prime factors for any company wishing to invest.

Thailand is one of the few remaining economies that wish to compete in the world and yet cannot abide any foreigner having a real say in the economy.

In most modern economies Germans cotrol electronics in other countires, Americans technology, Britain investment services etc etc. The world doesn't come to an end. Indeed countries that receive the investment benefit from tax revenue, employment, better health care etc.

It seems much more preferable to protect TOT etc as they are Thai. Whilst this continues whose fault will it be when the investment gains over the last thirty years start to evaporate?

Probably the nasty farang companies who provide jobs, pay taxes etc.

Still better to protect the few on the gravy train and keep falling behind the rest of Asia.
