  1. My wife got her 2 year tourist visa in sept. Embassy official only looked at our marriage certif and my letter on her behalf. Although he did ask what her degree was at university. I've heard that recently they changed from giving 10 year tourist visas to 2 years. Someone in this forum mentioned being able to change that 2 year to a 10 year once in the states. Does anyone know if that's possible? I'm talking about keeping same tourist visa type but making it a 10 year vs a 2 year.

write a good letter on her behalf.

  2. In the UK.

Sounds fine then - someone said the VISA starts from the day they stamp it so I thought I'd leave it late.. then kinda thought perhaps I'm pushing it a little.. I fly on the 12th,..... I guess it should arrive if it doesn't get lost!

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah they do start from date issued which kind of annoys me really, can't see why they can't date from date you arrive in Thailand or day before...that's 1 reason why I use Special Delivery and try to leave as late as possible but for sure you do lose days on visa validity...

I think I "lost" best part of a month 1st time round on a 12 month visa. I did ask 1 time round for them to date it later but it still came back dated day issued:angry:

Funny to hear someone complain about what really is a scam kind of visa offered by no one else on the planet exept the now (thank god) closing Perth consulate. If and when Hull closes then folks will really cry about losing that best part of a month

  3. Thanks for the replies and advice. For me (& my Thai wife) this is to be the trip of a lifetime. What a stressful and demeaning way to start it; accessing a website many times a day on the off-chance that you might get an appointment in a couple of months time. Have the Embassy Officials never considered that if/when they have finally got us to jump through sufficient hoops, we still have to book airline tickets!

Surely married couples, Thai ladies who have been granted visas to other countries could be fast-tracked thus cutting down this lottery. If we are finally successful this will be the last time I put my wife or myself through this ridiculous and unnecessary process.

Talking to others who have similar views, there will come a point where the US will not have a Tourist Industry. SOM NAM NA.

Trip of a lifetime? Oh I get it, you've never been to Vegas

  4. I lived on Soi 7 for 7 years up until last year and never saw anyone repeatedly sitting there. Maybe he is thinking the same about you.

I have talked to several people about the guy and they all knew about this farang. Nobody seems to know what happened to him. I talked to the girl working in the store that sells Camel clothes and she had no clue where he went.

lol, maybe you are right, he probably wondered why he saw me there every time...I never thought about that! :)

In addition, if you lived on Soi 7 for years, it must have been 3 or more years ago, or you're blind

  5. I lived on Soi 7 for 7 years up until last year and never saw anyone repeatedly sitting there. Maybe he is thinking the same about you.

I know excactly who the OP is talking about. Who knows where he went though. He was a Wackjob. Hope the OP didnt get to close to him cause there was a stench coming off him that would kill a skunk. He did about a year at the Subway sandwich dump on 7/1 b4 moving to the soi 7 location.

  6. xanax (benzo.. anti anxiety drug but will put you to sleep easy enough)

klonopin (same chem fam as xanax but better for sleeping)

    ambiem (real sleeping pill)

these are all prescription drugs. you can get them from some pharmacies here. In bangkok NANA area and especially some around suk 22 will sell them.. xanax is probably the more wider available of these. Dont drink a lot with them. A beer or two wont hurt. Having some of these in your shaving bag or whatever probably wouldn't cause you much grief especially if they are just in an unlabeled bag, but depending where your going you might not want to bring a lot, ie just enough for your flight.

It's really amazing reading this thread except for a few accurate posts. For everyone's info; AMBIEN, XANAX, VALIUM, DORMICUM etc are ILLEGAL to buy in a Thailand pharmacy with a doctor's prescription. Read it, learn it, know it. This is not the year 2000 when you could stroll into any pharmacy and buy a bottle of 1000 diazepams or Klonipins or whatever. Those days ended in 2001. No pharmacy will sell them to you without a script from a doctor. You can't even but anything with codeine in it as of 2003 so again; learn it, live it, know it. Anyone who says otherwise is completely uninformed and if they know an illegal pharmacy who sell any of that stuff without a script is breaking the law as is the pharmacy. Pharmacies don't risk their business by selling it to you. So get the misinformation out

  7. 1- is there a market for this?...................That is the reason for my post. I want to ask people who use this forum if they would use my service and provide the market?

2- how many other companies offer tis service?.............So far I have struggled to find any. There is a VIP service to Cambodia, but it is only to the land border (15 day stamp).

3- Does your price compare?..........Again, there is not enough competition to quantify a reasonable comparison.

4- Will people pay more for your service?........If this means will people pay 'ME. more than the competitor? Difficult to know without a tangible competition.

5- Is it worth setting up the new company for the low profit margin........ Indeed it is, and although on the face, it seems not to reflect a huge margin.. Because of my negotiating, it leaves a very desirable monthly balance sheet.

I have a much better idea. Get a proper visa where you don't have to leave the country. duh

  8. OP

you are walking around with a 100% illegal ext. of stay. Why on earth have you not left the country? Are you waiting to get thrown in the immi slammer or what? I suppose you paid 25K and want to get your money's worth? You never neen to worry though cause you can just call your "friend". Maybe you can hang out together in the immi slammer cell. It aint rocket science, leave the country and get a legal visa. My god

  9. I know a dude with one of these drug convictions and the US wouldn't let him leave the country; but that was 10+ years ago. He still works and prays in the USA. He had a charge for one tab of some substance but the USA has monitored him to this day. The good news is that he never liked taking trips out of country anyway so what the hay. He could get a lot of hot chicks cause he played awesome guitar like zep and such. He didn't need to race to a foreign country like most of us did to get our hot chicks (wives ... or whatever). He could get hot white killer hot chicks in their 20s and 30s cause his guitar playing was amazing. He was just stupid to allow himself to get entrapped. But really when I think about that guy, he's luckier than all of us cause he can have the super hot chick and live in his USA resort community and not have to rough it here. For me, I'll take what I have here in BKK and my chick (wife) is the hottest thing imaginable so I would never change a thing but I think what he has is awesome and if the OP had the same thing, he'd have no worries but maybe he got none anyway.

  10. I know an awesome eatery in Patters that has a menu done up to perfection by the owner probably. Tasty awesome food I must say and I eat there everytime I'm in town. I hope they dont close him up or give him probs. I think it's the best food place in the city

oh and I might add that I have never seen this guy or any farang in or around the place unless he's posing as a customer. Please god, let this dude stay! I love the breakfast there and obviously a britwith the Beans nasty offered for b'fast but he got the american stuff pretty much great

as for the shaking hands bar owners...good riddance. those dudes provide zero imo

  11. Excuse me if I'm not being a complete 100% moron here but what is a Mae Sot? The Mae Sai think I did hear about thru a friend about 7 years ago or more. He said that was some deal where a dude could cross a border into Myanmar (wft this Burma thing is yet another question I'm clueless about. My wife who lives in a place called kiri kan dont even know what this Burma thing is either). any help is appreciated. Is there a reason people go to this place? like to get some scam stamp or something cause they cant get a regualar normal visa? sorry to ask idiot questions but I really dont know. I only know bodia, Malaysia, singapore, Laos and such. After reading crazy news about this other "country" that pops up in the news, I never bothered to check into it think that maybe it's like afganistan or some such manure. thank you in advance to clear up my stupidity

  12. I used to know a jackass, as I stated earlier in this thread, who overstayed for years like it was nothing. I thought he was crazy but he was adamant that he had done this on many occasions and that it was his routine. Some people like myself did visa runs, this guy overstayed for however long he needed to. I never asked him whether he was concerned that he might get stopped and asked to show his passport at some point but I am certain that was the least of his concerns. I dont know if the guy is still in the country but I bet he is and who knows, at this point he may well have a legit marriage ext. of stay. I just dont know. He seemed so comfortable with his routine that he might be somewhere keeping that thing going. No official ever bothered him about it at the airport or anything. He did have 2 or 3 passports from diff. countries. Perhaps that helped him

  13. LMAO, thank you OP. I will remember this the next time I decide to holiday in the Middle East....That 1 time when I go next time would equal the total number of time I holidayed in ANY MId East country. LOL.. Zero. but thank you for the heads up. I was planning to do a whirlwind tour of the region starting in my favorite place, Telaviv but something got me sidetracked. Oh well, I'll be one of the few world's people that never went within 3,000 miles of the area.

    Oh well, my loss

  14. Issan persons are so dominant in Thailand, meaning they are everywhere in the country. My wife is not from Issan but she really has a problem with Issaners. I understand her feeling as she views the bulk of them to be scammerlike. I know that probably 90% of falongs in the country are married to or have gf's that are from Issan. She just feels that Issan people take take take and never say thank you. This kind of persons. This is coming from a red blooded low key polite Thai. I tend to agree with and see her points. Please dont get upset Issan connected falongs. Also Issaners tend to be very low educated and highly involved in the scammer and pay for play industries. These are just the unfortunate facts. Hey, I had a lovely Issan gf for 4 years. She fit the mold my wife speaks of. I found myself fortunate to never ever visit her family or village; I've heard enuf stories and seen too much. I shall steer as clear as I can although there is an in-law of my wife who resides behind her mother's house. This in-law raids and ravages any goods we bring from Bangkok without asking or even a thank you. How typical. These are not my kinda people

  15. I will be going for the visa but in my case it will be for my wife. We have zero intentions of residing in the US and hope we get this visa

A Visa for your wife is usually much easier than GF. my wife got her 10 year TV on her first attempt. She showed no financial records of any kind, and my wife told me that 90% of the interview (under 5 minutes) focused around our son and myself. Of course she was able to provide a paper trail.

It helps that i live here, and we have been LEGALLY married for over 2 years, plus we have a son together who shares dual citizenship.

Keep in mind that immigration is looking at her ties to YOU even more than her ties to Thailand. Chok dee!

    Hi Mizzi

thank you for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it and it's helpful. My wife and I have no child and will have been legally married over 6 months by the time we apply. I own 2 condos here and we can show those home books and we spend time at her family home. I'm retired with income pension. She's nervous about it but I try to tell her to relax. I think she can get the visa. I prepared an excellent letter regarding my living here 10 years and such. We're together everyday and as I said Legally married 6 months now and likely close to 9 months or a year by the time we apply. cheers buddy
