  1. I lost a <deleted>load of money the last 2 years in crypto, that I made the 2 years before in 2020 and 2021. But at the of 2021 I was still even in the bracket of VHNWI and even in this setting I thought Thailand is not bad, because: Territorial taxation so for me completely tax-free. Freedom to own guns (for my wife of course) and despite that a very peaceful place where my wife can walk alone in the streets in the evening. Freedom from harassing police and government intervention, you can just do your thing if you do not bother other people Natural beauty (just trashy and plasticy) Good infrastructure There are not many other countries in the world where all of these things applied. Sadly, the first 3 points of the 5 I mentioned will all disappear now that Thaksin is back in charge of the country. <deleted> up. Byebye Thailand, going on to greener pastures.
  2. Well, you need to declare that appropriately, otherwise you are doing tax evasion. If your income is taxed in the country of origin - No issues, no double taxation due to DTA If it is saving, no taxation, no issues. But if you until now generated tax-free income through a company in a tax-free offshore haven, like Cayman Islands, Dubai, British Virgin Islands, Singpaore and so on and lived tax-free until now in Thailand, you are officially not anymore from 2024. Sure for the people living on pensions here it does not matter, but they do not bring any huge value to Thailand anyway. It matters for people still making a lot of money monthly and who until now could life, with the right setup, completely tax-free in Thailand. This will lead to a huge drain of rich people to other countries. Surely you could just declare your offshore tax haven income as savings and hope they never find out, but by law it would be evading tax. And this is a more stupid idea than killing someone.
  3. Cambodia got a residence-based taxation already. Really crazy to see how people more than double my age have no idea how taxation works. People of all age nowadays are so braindead, it is funny. How do you even navigate through life without knowing rules that are beneficial to take advantage of or circumvent?
  4. And yes the Philippines are actually quite funny, give residence-based taxation for their citizens but territorial taxation for us foreigners. They literally welcome HNWIs with open arms :)
  5. It does not matter if they enforce it immediately or not. From 2024, you are not able to generate tax-free offshore money anymore while having your tax residency in Thailand. Everyone with a high offshore-income will leave Thailand as his tax residency within the next months.

  7. This forum is so <deleted> funny. A bunch of old people, just by the type how they write you can already see the picture of the typical Thailand expat sitting in front of a screen, complaining that Thailand is staying neutral. You will be very happy if an international war breaks out that Thailand always maintained its neutrality. How can you wish that the country you are living in takes a side in something that could evolve in a world war? As soon as bombs would rain over your neighborhood, EXACTLY the people here typing "ehh ehh COWARDS" will be the FIRST ONES who will poop their pants and cry for their mother.
  8. Leave Thailand bro. Locals and even allmost all of the expats here are completely on their knees for any authoritarian dream. The few expats that see the dangers approaching cannot or do not wanna leave due to financial or family reasons. The others are gone already or packing their stuff. Now they even abolished the territorial taxation system. No tax-free money from offshore anymore. Smart money is leaving Thailand as a tax residence in droves.
  9. Yes I do. I keep NO amount of money in any bank. If I need to make a bank transfer, I just deposit cash crypto and send it right away, so my account is empty again. I have all my wealth in cash, gold and crypto and real estate. A friend of mine got his company bank account "haircutted" in Cyprus 10 years ago. I do not know anyone personally being affected by that, but banks just ran away with the deposit of customers in Serbia in 2008 as well. Money that you have in a bank is not even yours. It is the banks money and you merely have an account there with a deposit. And the bank can allow you to withdraw money from this account. In good times, you will get your withdrawal. But in bad times, you will not. Just ask people in Libanon nowadays, they are robbing banks just to get their OWN money out of their account. But I bet most people here are either too drunk, otherwise poisoned, naive or just illiterate to even comprehend these things. The reactions to my posts are hilarious. It really proofs that Thailand is mainly a destination for people with low financial and general intelligence. Land of the Free? Maybe 50 years ago.
  10. Why should I talk to them? They are completely irrelevant for my life, they can insist on what they want. I hope they will go broke by their moves, but definitely not in Thailand, sheeps will still buy their overpriced <deleted>ty coffee their despite them opening the door for state abuse.
  11. Why tin-foil-hat? Did you even have a look at China? Even if it were not for China, you do believe the government would not use a cashless system to enhance their power and silence people who criticize them? Are you really THAT naive? But no sense to try to convince some old expats here, Thailand is anyway doomed when it comes to this, as the locals totally and blindly follow the heard in any sense, be it COVID vaccines and masking or digital money. Saw 2 masked kids today again. Cannot wait to leave this dystopian <deleted>hole soon :)
  12. Are you serious? Your bank app can be disabled by your bank if you behave in a "wrong manner", maybe ordered by the government. While this is not being applied right now, de facto it is a possibility. In China it is being done already, they are exploring a CBDC as well. While with cash, no one can interfere in between you and another party to transact with cash. WITHOUT ANY limits by the way. I think most people who cluelessly use cashless payments do not even understand what door they are opening with their behavior.
  13. CASH IS FREEDOM Cannot believe people actually wanna pay cashless while I leave any store that does not accept my cash.
  14. IQ means nothing. Japanese are the biggest sheeps in the world and completely detached from nature. They literally have digital girlfriends, robots in stores, wearing masks all the time and everywhere even without a mandate. The "convenience" food everywhere. Only good thing is that they eat a lot of raw animal food. The men there have the lowest Testosterone levels IN THE WORLD as well, which explains their sheepish behavior: https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20827824-900-men-beware-moving-country-could-affect-your-libido/ "As a result, Japanese men had the lowest levels of active testosterone."
  15. Okay, so as always it seems no clear rules and it depends on the employees, their daily mood and how you approach them. Thank you. I will try my luck.
  16. Thanks. Anyone have different experiences? Or maybe use some brown bills to make it possible more early?
  17. Because it will not be valid anymore in April 2024 and then I would have no valid driving license at all anymore? If I extend to 5 years soon, I have until end of 2028. Furthermore, many countries do not even consider the 2-year-temporary Thai drivers license as valid in their country at all (for example all EU countries)
  18. Hi, I currently have a 2-year driving license that is ending in April 2024. But I will leave Thailand for good at the end of this year. Can I change my 2-year license to a 5-year license before I leave?
  19. I usually get a pneumonia, a flu and a COVID vaccine at the same time. The flash is just harder if you combine them.
  20. Please read the topic. Our marriage is not registered in Thailand and we do not want to do it. We just want her to have my last name. Several people here mentioned it would be possible, but obviously it is not possible. Now we do not know how to proceed anymore.
  21. Hi, after a lot of time we now went to the District Office. Because we were outside of the country and its on another island blablala. They said my wife cannot change her last name to my name. The reason they stated: "Our daughter would be the "owner" of my name in Thailand, so my daughter would need to approve that my wife can have our name. But because she is under the age of 18 years, she cannot allow my wife to take our name." They said if my wife would take my name and the name of our daughter now it would be illegal and she would go to jail. Not kidding. I cannot believe all of this. I stated that many people in this Forum told me they did so with no issues, then they gave me a number from the Ministry of Interior. The woman there literally told my wife I should ask in this forum how you guys did it and which documents you had and that I should ask you at which District Office you were able to do that. So yeah, anyone can advise me on what to do now?
  22. You realize there are people of every ethnicity in the GOP? They are definitely not fascist.
  23. People who categorize people into right or left always are very shallow-minded. Can you even give me a definition of "being right" and why I immediately qualified for that pigeonholing of you?
