  1. Ordinary hydrocabon vapour will expand by a factor of around 8x during combustion under optimal conditions. For a completely closed container, this means the pressure inside can rise by a factor of 8-10x absolute starting pressure. So, in this case, assuming the container was at atmospheric pressure (~ 14.7 psia), then maximum pressure would be in the range of 117.6 to 147 psia or 102.9 to 132.3 psig ( guage accounts for the atmospheric pressure pushing back on the other side of the wall). For low to moderate vapour pressure hydrocarbons, a container would be designed to contain roughly 10- 15 psig of internal pressure. The rupture of that container might occur at approximately 4x design pressure due to mechanical safety factors prescribed in design codes, so, 40 - 60 psig maximum. A ship tank may be designed to a higher pressure due to the need to resist forces from the motion of the ship and the liquid in the tank. clearly, the pressure developed during combustion can exceed the maximum design in the example. The roof of the ship tank may be designed as a relief device just for this internal fire case by using weak welded seams that will fail at lower internal pressure, perhaps as low as 20 psig. This to ensure that the rupture occurs on the top and protects the integrity of the ship hull. if the roof of the tank had the dimensions of 30 ft x 30 ft giving an area of 900 square feet and the rupture occurred at 20 psig or 2880 psfg, then the total applied force might be about 2.6 million pounds of force. All of that is another way of saying, yes, that might throw the plate a good distance. The blast and fireball radiation would kill anyone in the area from lung collapse or severe burns. Blast at that level would rupture eardrums making it impossible to walk and evacuate.

  6. If the cargo deep tanks were not chemically clean, look out. Just waiting for a static discharge, grinder, or flame to ignite the “empty” deep tank. Likely a common vent header so the flame propagated from one deep tank to another through the header. rip workers. It wasn’t your fault, but you bear the consequences.
  7. It is still considered rude to wear one’s hat, ten gallon or pint size, inside a home or building. Wearing in large public spaces is tolerated, unless a building for religious purposes. We speak English, German, Czech-Slovak, Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, French, and a smattering of other languages depending on where you are. No different than any other country. Braggadocio, stereotypical in the movies, is more of a personality trait, than reflective of most here.
  8. Look for reviews of colour laser printer photo prints with examples. When i looked a few years back, HP made nicer images than Brother, but that could have changed as it has been 5-6 years.
  9. Also, never use inkjet paper in a laser printer. The coating on the paper will come off and ruin the transfer drum surface due to the heat from the fuser. Copier paper or laser printer paper is what is specified.
  10. Be aware of the cost of toner carts for colour laser printers- roughly 4x single black cart as there is a Cyan, Magenta, Yellow to add to the black cart. The printed picture is ok but not nearly as good as a decent inkjet with the special coated inkjet paper. Colour laser printing does well for graphics rather than photographs. if you only want to print the occasional colour photograph prints, you may be better off going to a print shop with a usb stick. If you plan to do brochures and other colour graphics, then look at the HP Color Laserjet 255dw is a modest priced printer. A set of replacement high capacity toner cartridges will cast the same or more than the original printer. Be aware that the # of pages printed that are quoted by the manufacturers is a specific set of test pages with limited colour coverage. Take the # of pages and divide by 2 if you print the occasional photos mixed with colour documents.
