  2. Suggest independent sensor wired in series so you can point it to avoid reflections and lights.
  3. Check with a mains tester or volt meter that you have power to the switch ( and the switch is disconnecting hot instead of neutral ). If the switch has power to it and closing the switch put power to the wire to the light, then check for voltage at the hot wire in the light. This is an incandescent bulb ?
  4. Does the light have to be turned on manually or is it automatic ?
  5. The outside of the cap looks like it has a photon sensor on the end. Were any of the wires connected to the cap ?
