They are just fine tuning their face mask recognition system. As soon as the bugs are ironed out then they can track you with and with out a mask... -

Happens in the US. Think reverse mortgage. Biggest rip off in decades and government sponsored. Elderly are displaced daily.. Only difference is in the US it is done legally and with fast talking salesmen. And is not done in error, it is done on purpose. -

Funny, at the Laos Thai border crossing. On the Thailand side everyone has a mask on. As soon as they cross into Laos everyone throws them in the trash. LOL. Not a mask to be see in Laos.

They may pick up a few more tourists but not many. And predictions for the next five years is high inflation. There is nothing they can do now to help. Absolutely nothing.

Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I hope I am still around to see the outcome of de globalization. And what China, Thailand and SE Asia as a whole is like in another 5-10 years. This is a game changing time for the world to sort out. -
Biden’s APEC no-show seen as a blow to Thai government’s credibility
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I doubt the US could care less about Thailand and increasingly SE Asia. It's over plain and simple. -
If you start at 0 the increase will be what ever the number is , so infinity! But, it is the same even if you have a non zero number IMO. I don't agree, I am getting old and had to sit down and write this down.. When you want a percentage you are looking for the difference between two numbers as a percentage. So anything greater than 0 would be the percentage. Example: 2-0 = 2 x 100 = 200%. No matter what number you have, if starting with 0 you will get a number that is the exact percentage of that number x 100. Now, if you have any number other than 0? Then the equasion would look like this. 3-1 = 2 , 2/1 =2 x 100 = 200%. You would have to follow that equation if any number other than 0.. example: 10,000 -1000 = 9000, 9000/1000 =9x100=900%. I am very interested in your opinion.. Please correct where I am wrong..

Cabinet set to decide on 300 baht fee for foreign tourists
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
10 Baht 300 Baht doesn't matter. No one is going to come back again same as before. Covid sped up the process by years. Now with the world in a recession forget about it. Everything I have read says inflation is going to be out of control for 5 years at least. Government should be trying to figure out how they are going to feed the people instead of tourists. -

Thailand's AIS partners with China's ZTE to launch 5G innovation center
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Personally I say good, I hope Thailand partners with China all the way. The faster it lays with the Chinese the faster the US will cut off ties and exclude it as a trade partner. A win IMHO. Enjoy your 5G, of course as the regime tightens control it will be a high speed propaganda machine only. Anything that speeds up the move from Asia to SA and Mexico the better. The days of Thailand playing both sides is over. -
Doesn't matter right now, the dollar is the most stable, transparent and sought after currency in the world. Where do you think the rich Thai's , Russians, Chinese and the rest of the world are parking their money right now? Let me give you a hint, it ain't the Thai baht. As long as the rich from around the world are buying the dollar. The US can print until hell freezes over. Instead of buying Bitcoin, you should start buying the Chinese Yuan.

Yes, most of the guys here think a one years extension is retirement security. Most of these guys have been here for a long time and will do anything to remain. I have a feeling hard times are coming. Hope not , but I for one will just enjoy my self when I want a break from a real retirement destination with permanent residence. Not knocking Thailand what so ever. Just not a secure retirement destination. I have a pickup in Thailand , at present I am in Laos. But, love Thailand for the food. I occasionally spend the rainy season in Thailand, The air pollution is so bad in this part of the world when they are burning I find it unbearable.
