Khao Yai’s Haew Narok Waterfall dries amid Thailand drought
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Door is eaten up with old timers that censor the crap out of that site also. I got banned about 15 years ago for some petty little thing. One of the mods banned me for life for basically no reason. I had designed a solar panel with local products for hot water and was showing it. They got mad when I would not give the plans over to them.. Knuckle draggers. -

Thailand’s oldest association endorses Big Joke after being fired Thursday
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If I were him I would go on the run, come back, and be deathly ill. Go to the police hospital where he will be nursed back to health in one month then run for president. -
I used to live there, from the US I have so many better unspoiled places it makes Thailand look like an over developed wasteland. Not to mention the government rules to stay there. Passsssssss Honestly even if they gave permanent retirement visas I would never go back to live or even visit for that matter. Only easy thing about living in Thailand are the women.

Songkran festival sees surge in road accidents across Thailand
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Looks like nothing has changed since I left a couple of years ago. During holidays in Thailand I would pull over, rent a hotel and wait it out , if I happened to be traveling during one. -

Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News

Time banks: Are they the solution to Thailand’s aging crisis?
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A problem all over the world for sure. I live on SS here in the US , and alone. I have no problems what so ever. But, in the US we have a HUGE social network to support the single older folks like me. In Thailand it is only a problem because they have no pension unless you worked for the government. Kind of like China. Both Thailand and China are on the same trajectory. I tried working for the government here in the US and found it to be a joke, for me. But, the retirement was great and benefits were off the charts. Luckily here in the US if you work for a big company and do well the retirement will be in place in spades. -
Phuket hotel evicts foreigner who threatened taxi driver with knives
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
And when I was getting a yearly extension of stay in KK. I questioned a young Thai immigration officer about what she was wanting . She proceeded to follow me out of the office screaming and threatening me. Said I was going to jail and would be deported. Friend of mine's wife passed away from a heart attack. The in-laws trashed his house and pickup and threatened him to get out of his house so they could take over. Wonder why that did not make the news... -
Air Pollution Spurs Lung Cancer Spike in Northern Thailand
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They don't care, the air pollution in Thailand kills more people than anything in the country , and has for years. Last year 25,000 soles lost their lives directly related to air pollution. -
47 year old with grandkids. Probably could have negotiated it down to they pay you 10,000 baht. For the luxury of having a farang in the family. And hence "stupid farang" is front and center in the LOS's

Expats see and get sucked in to the government and YouTube trolls that pump out 100% nonsense. Then get stuck there. A miserable way to spend your last days. It took me three years to finally break all my ties (hard). Best thing I ever did for my health. -

AWC set to scoop jackpot from Thailand’s casino legalisation

Makes perfect sense to me. Thai's have a gambling problem so legalize it for foreigners and build huge gambling dens.. hahaha. That should put a bad light on gambling for the Thai's.. -
Thai condo market dominated by Chinese and Russian investors
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Housing market was the number one investment for Chinese for 30 years. Now the market in China has collapsed. Bingo, Thailand has a surge in Chinese buying condos... hahaha. Then of course Thailand tourist authority has to get their two cents in with how the tourist market is expected to be back to normal. "Joke of the day" -

Thai ferry fire: Authorities blaze into action saving all aboard (video)
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Common occurrence and will never end in Thailand. -
The writing has been on the wall in Thailand for the last several years. Anyone that did not see this coming deserves to be taxed and thrown under the bus. Thailand is following the China model where westerners are concerned and it is only going to get worse. As China's economy deteriorates Thailand will go down with them and the anti western sentiment will go off the charts.
