Thanks for the info. So if I accept the calls on my Thai Mobile is there any extra charges on top of the £5.00 a month for the Skype UK number.

If I pay for a UK Skype number its £5.00 a month and I understand that I can answer the calls on the Skype app. Does anyone know if its possible to get the calls re-routed to a Thai mobile number instead of the Skype App. I looked on the Skype website but couldnt find any info regarding this. Any feedback appreciated.

DrJack, Thanks for the info. I am using a visa agent to get the retirement visa and they are going to arrange the bank account for me.

Plan is to fly to Bangkok with no visa and get a 45 day waiver on arrival and then apply for retirement visa 1 week later. Just looked at booking a one way flight with Thai Airways, on the website it says - Passengers with a one way ticket maybe refused entry at destination. Will this be a problem, if so whats the best solution to this problem.

Agree. I dived in Komodo where there are extreme currents. You need to be fit if you want to dive against the currents but when diving in calm tropical waters with good visibility you could have average health. Saying that, diving everyday and if you are drinking every night. This is a very unhealthy combination and could take its toll on your health. I am not saying the guy who passed away was drinking every night, but I bet many of the non thai dive masters/instructors are drinking too much.

If you want to buy a brand new bike from a dealership in Pattaya. What are they like when its comes to doing test rides, do they have bikes available for test rides or would it be best to go to a company that rents scooters and rent each model you are interested for 1 day and make you decision that way?

What speed is the DTAC 1 year Sim and how is it performing when you do the broadband speed tests?

I know someone who had a nice condo in Pattaya with a brilliant view. They absolutely loved living there. Problem was there was a section of waste land in between there condo and the sea. One day a loud noise could be heard from the waste land which was the machinery starting the ground work. 6 months later the sea view was completely gone and the value of the condo had significantly dropped. If it was me I would keep searching for another piece of land were your not going to encounter this problem. It would be heartbreaking to build your dream house and then in the near future you loose your sea view.

It does matter. I am no expert but in Europe you might get 5-8 years in prison. In Thailand more like 25-30 years.

Its my mates 40th birthday and he will be flying to Pattaya to celebrate. We want to go to the best Gogo Bars. Read in a previous post that Pin Up, Palace,New XS and Kink are good. Can anyone recommend any others worth checking out.

I have been in contact with a visa agent and they have told me if I use them I will need a Bangkok Bank account. I need to pay the Bangkok Bank 3700 Baht to open the account. 500 to open the account, 700 for ATM card and 2500 for Insurance. Is this 2500 insurance a tax I need to pay every year or is it a one off charge. I will have separate insurance so don't need this.

I contacted them and they do have Personal Trainers.

I wanted to find a stretch of pavement about 4-5km and was going to do it a few times so was riding 16-20km. Agree about finding it hard to find a safe place in Thailand to cycle. Roads are absolutely crazy. Surely cant help with all the extra stoned people.
