ENT doctors are in abundance here, finding one that specialises in hearing and is also excellent, may be a challenge. I am told that ENT is the easiest qualification to obtain out of all the medical specialisms which is why the field is so heavily populated. Good luck.

How about, 1am, you're a tourist and you get stopped by the police in Thailand. They inspect your passport and see you have a visa on arrival and they decide that's not good enough and that you need a different visa. They take you to the police station and decide to fine you 27k, you haven't done anything wrong. What do you do, ask if they prefer visa or Amex or do you ask if 27k is really enough and wouldn't they actually prefer more! Is that the correct approach, do tell?

Take the road that is in the center of the North side of the moat (107), the road leads to Mae Rim. On the left side, less than 100 yards, is an Audiologist who does hearing tests for CM RAM. She inexpensive and has all the equipment and is very professional. About 400 baht for the test, three times that at a hospital, same person.

Don't troll me! It was a spontaneous thing, I had a half eaten piece of pizza in my hand when we stopped (wife was driving), I was also being half heartedly humorous. The cops have jobs to do, I understand that, standing outside in the sun amidst all the fumes, dealing with the public and all that entails, it's not always fun. I've worked all my life, I understand that, how about you, ever had a job!

I'm not certain but I'd probably invite them to do whatever they felt they had to do and let's see how the chain of command views things, at some point I'm likely to come across somebody sane wh will say whoa, wait a minute, this isn't worth it. Failing that it's call a lawyer and I have a good one we've known for a long time, she'd love this.

You have to remember we live in the North, it's all a bit different up here than in Bangkok. Plus I tend not to go out clubbing and ride in taxi's at 1 am, at that hour all our cops are fast asleep, as am I, I'm 73 this month. But would I stand my ground, yes, and I have, but only with fairly minor things. A traffic stop cop wanted me to pay a fine for being in the wrong lane, I told him I'd take a ticket but he wasn't getting any cash. It took some backwards and forwards but he soon gave up and waved me on. Apart from that one time, I have to say that any time I've been stopped is because I'd done something wrong, usually speeding and that's a fair cop so I pay.

A few years ago, the wifes mother had the police show up because somebody thought that the wifes brother was dealing drugs...he wasn't. About 20 cops showed up and wanted to search the house but MIL wouldn't let them in, you wait she said. She called out to neighbours and quickly about a dozen of them showed up. OK, you come in now and each one was assigned an escort who accompanied them on their search, just to make sure nobody planted anything. It's what they do apparently and the cops were OK with it.

I confess to being confused about what you wrote there, perhaps if I read it enough times I will understand...or not. I understand that nobody wants to believe TAT but passenger movement numbers, well, is AOT also not to be believed? And if neither of those two entities are credible, what remains, should we not believe anyone and that everyone is lying? If that's the case, I have to wonder why. I also have to wonder if the problem is not really the numbers but just the way posters like to view all things Thai.

The Baht Thread
nigelforbes replied to nigelforbes's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If tourism levels didn't pay any role in Baht strength, I might agree. But they do play some role, it's just not as big as everyone thinks it is and relative to FDI and exports value, it appears smaller. It you think about it, how many tourists who visit Thailand, from which countries, actually sell USD and buy THB, not many I would think.
