  1. Is it possible to apply for an eVisa online to use a land border crossing?
  2. Is English also the most widely spoken language among tourists in Thailand? Russian or Chinese, I suppose...
  3. You are right. And Russians are also starting to understand that Ukraine with friends is much stronger. But they also believe that Ukraine without friends is not a problem. So Putin-TV is now explaining that people of Russia have only one solution of the problem of unwanted friends of Ukraine, the nuclear one.
  4. Nong Khai->Vientiane is the best because of cheap Bangkok->Udon Thani flights and regular minivans from Udon to the border.
  5. As far as I know NATO is a kind of security insurance alliance ruled by the USA, right? So, I suggest that when something happens with a customer (e.g. Poland), a good insurance agency will require investigation to prove that a customer really should be serviced (e.g. p.5 of NATO could be applied).
  6. I was there at the end of September 2022. It was Wednesday. There were 2 people in the queue. 2 minutes of waiting, 5000thb for Multi-entry visa and everything was done after that (visa collection on the following day). You can choose any weekday you want. Almost no people every day.
  7. 11:00. Most probably you will be there about 9:20 (if you use the Vientiane->Savannakhet flight)
  8. I prefer Savannakhet. Easy and fast. No need to show bank statement or bank book. You should arrive to Vientiane first, stay 1 night near airport and fly to Savannakhet early in the morning (7:50). You will have enough time to catch a taxi to the Thai Consulate and apply for your visa.
  9. When I applied for my visa they asked me to pay 2000THB. I said "Multiple entry". They then asked me to pay 5000THB.
  10. I would prefer high prices but without cancellation lottery followed by 6 months of waiting for a refund. A typical picture from a Thailand airport with cheap flight prices:
  11. While some governments look for military victories, Thailand remains neutral and develops business.
  12. Maybe this could be helpful They want 2k baht at the Wang Prachan border crossing which is very close to Padang Besar. Wang Prachan is actually a very silent border crossing. Almost no people. So collecting 2k fee is not a problem. But Padang Besar is relatively busy. Even if there are people that succeeded, I suggest one day the officer can become too shy to collect admin fees in the presence of a big crowd. So you can consider catching a taxi from Padang Besar to Wang Prachan(24km) while returning to Thailand.
  13. I suggest the requirements(and admin fees) are not the same for those who want to make a visa exempt entry and for those why already have a multi visa.
  14. Thank you for this. So we can analyze it as an interesting propaganda weapon detonated in this current war. Let's say you are a typical leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos independent state in Africa(or Pacific Ocean) that came to the Valdai forum. What do you want from your life? Is there anything that can transform you into a desperate fighter which is ready to die supporting Putin? Putin has seen already how millions of Ukrainians selflessly fight and die for the independence of their state. And what about you, the honored leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos? How's YOUR fight for independence? Wait wait wait... Gorilla-de-Cocos is INDEPENDENT state ALREADY! So there is nothing to fight for, right? Putin gently disagreed: "[The West] denies the sovereignty of countries and peoples, their originality and uniqueness, does not put the interests of other states in anything" ; "...the Western model of globalization, neo-colonial in its essence" etc In another words it is like saying "Hey, the leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos independent state, you are in fact a part of neo-colonial world since 1991, you are a colony of the West. And as a colony in neo-colonial world you should dream of freedom from your metropoly and fight with the west even more selflessly than Ukraine does for its own independence". To make more drama, Putin tried to make you, the leader of Gorilla-de-Cocos, feel offended by the West. To accomplish that he said that the West "tsap-scratch – pocketed our[Russian] gold and foreign exchange reserves". Putin is sure that most of the other leaders of so called "the rest of the World" have ever been in a similar situation and that would press their old calluses. Ok, he got a crowd of angry leaders of different countries. A good time to tell them what to do. Of course they should just support Russia to restore the global balance of power and return to the old world order when the leaders had real independence: "The collapse of the Soviet Union also destroyed the balance of geopolitical forces. The West felt like a winner and proclaimed a unipolar world order in which only its will, its culture, its interests had the right to exist." Then, In Putin sweet dreams, all the world leaders stood up and said: "We support efforts of Putin to restore the Soviet Union in Ukraine because that would restore "the balance of geopolitical forces" and we all become true independent leaders rather than colonial administrators in the current neo-colonial world". Of course Putin gave them some arguments to make it easier to defend Russia if they encounter a western journalist asking inconvenient questions :
  15. The Valdai speech is usually (every year) addressed to the leaders of other countries. Many people can't figure out why even Thailand prefer being "neutral" regarding to the war in Ukraine. There should be something alluring that is being offered from the other side of the conflict. IMHO, this is exactly what Putin did throughout his entire propaganda speech. Since Kremlin propaganda is prohibited in the Western media, you will not know anything from what was said there.
  16. Let`s imagine that you encounter a new officer that require k.r.2 or other docs just because he is in a bad mood or because the general requirements have changed without prior notice or they just want to move to another building because of flood etc. If you have a valid vaccination document - you just buy an air ticket to Vietnam and enjoy your multi entry Non-O at HCMC(proof of 20000 in the bank required there? not sure about this). And if not.... it is a big problem. It`s very risky to go somewhere without a valid vaccination document.
  17. We will see new Trump tweets again as the final result of these events.
  18. Have you watched "The Pacific" (miniseries) about the WW2? At the end of the WW2 the US heroes were going to return home. But they had to stay in Australia for a few days. There was a fighting between the American men and Australian ones. The reason was the Australian men did not like the foreigners to spoil their women. This is the main reason why the Thai men don't like you here. A typical conversation between you and a Thai man (or a ladyboy) is always the same, no matter where - in immigration, shopping center or gasoline station. They will talk about Thai women and ask you WHY you are here. They will not ask you why you come here to spoil their women but that is what they really think when talking with you.
  19. I don't need a receipt. But I hope it is like in the old good times when Phuket->Ranong border runs were very popular. I remember that everyone in the queue paid admin fee for a visa exemption stamp. But when they see my passport they just said - "Oh, you have visa!" and did not asked me to pay.
  20. 2000k is the admin fee at the Thai immigration to get a 45 days visa exemption stamp after intermediate turnaround, right? And what about those with Non-O(or Non-B) ME visas? Are they also necessary to pay the admin fee?
  21. Recently, I heard an interesting conversation between a Thai pretty teacher and a foreigner. Foreigner tried to boast his salary in Europe. He converted it into Thai baht according to the official exchange rate and the result was higher than the 25 000 of the teacher. But the lady disagreed with him. She told the foreigner that she earns more. The lady converted the salary of the foreigner into liters of gasoline using the actual prices in his country. And, suddenly, she earns more litters of gasoline per month according to the actual prices in her country.
  22. He deserves Oscar for promoting "harassment" hashtag to the society. I hope his job was paid well.
  23. I bought my visa on 21 Sep 2022. Wife was not present. Regular set of requirements. Got visa on the following day. No queues. Easy and very fast.
  24. Interesting, but nobody want to make a visa run to Myanmar. But this would be the fastest and cheapest visa run (2-3 hours by bus from Bangkok to get to the border). Recently I have seen an advertising for a visa run ticket to Myanmar (Ranong) from Phuket for about 1800 baht (including insurance which is necessary to enter Myanmar). The seller offers such a visa-run for Multiple entry visa holders only. I hope there should be the same opportunities in Bangkok. A foreigner could buy insurance online and pay about 500 baht for the Myanmar immigration officers to get stamped.
  25. According to this - https://domesticflightsthailand.com/airports/nakhon-phanom-airport "A shared van to the city center should cost approximately 80 baht." Not sure it is still available now or not.
