Some also want to move to cheap Vancouver/Seattle. Otherwise known as Singapore.

You seem to be not up to date with the price level of Singapore compared to Vancouver.  It is not cheaper, but much more expensive for most things (excluding restaurants)

  2. About 2.4 million people in Thailand have sought hospital treatment for medical problems linked to air pollution since the start of 2023, health officials said, as toxic smog chokes parts of the country.

Bangkok and the northern city of Chiang Mai were among the most polluted cities in the world on Thursday morning, according to air quality monitoring company IQAir.

There were 184,465 hospital admissions this week alone, Public Health Department Permanent Secretary Opas Karnkawinpong said on Wednesday.

Indoors w/filters, no problem.  It was nice 10ish days ago, and I actually thought smog season was over, till this week.  Hopefully rain before the end of the month.

    1) Is your smog "locally produced" or is this coming down from Bangkok?
    2) And what do you get the PM2.5 level down to with an air purifier indoors when it is this bad? (This says you have an AQI outside of 158 at the moment: https://aqicn.org/station/thailand/prachuap-khiri-khan/gaia-10).

    Thanks.

And I expect any inability to provide a tax return would require a very good reason as to why one could not be provided since folks with LTR visa type income would have an annual income tax return.

Somebody on fb posted she told the BOI she did not have a tax return since she was not living in any single country long enough to become tax resident and the BOI accepted this

No guarantees. But change is required. Fear of change and not knowing what it will bring does not justify a lethargic regime and the damage they cause.

The problem is not only the politicians, but also the people, a large part of the population, which does not care:

You said that there aren't more road fatalities during Songkran compared to other times of the year, yet it's too difficult for you to show where you got that "fact" from.

Look up the total number of road deaths per annum in Thailand via Google, divide by 365 and compare with the Songkran / New Year numbers.  I actually did this sometime in the past and indeed the numbers are not really much inflated compared to the rest of the year

The story/report highlights why we never drive any great distances in LOS. The road behaviour here, even locally, is so very dangerous indeed.

This is why we drive a solid, high safety rating, large SUV. No bikes here EVER now.

The number of road deaths is of course a total disgrace.  But about 80% of the deaths are motorcyclists.  So as long as you only drive by car, then things actually do not look so bad.  Worse than Western countries, but not off the charts

If you do nothing, there will be mold.

Here on Samui we run fans in every room, 24/7 and we also put one of these in every wardrobe and cupboard and leave the doors open when the villa is empty.

Thank you.  And what do you do if you for example were to visit your home country for a couple of months so you could not do this?  Really then either live with the mold or have somebody come into your place for ventilation regularly I assume (which for privacy reasons I would not really like)?

no doubt the condo has sat empty for several months, dehumidifier as many others have suggested

So that means when renting an apartment in Phuket long-term it would be difficult to leave it unattended for a month or two while traveling outside Thailand?

But medical research has been pretty clear in coming to the conclusion that married men in general tend to live longer than single men do...

Not really as true as you think...

    "Conclusion

This study does not support the strong theoretical claims of marital protection and suggests that marriage exerts a mix of protective and adverse effects on health."
