  1. absolutely..........the day we stop learning is the day we start dying
  2. Blocking Facebook, however tempting it might be, would be a huge own goal. YES - Facebook should do more than it does to combat fraud but it has hown little appetite to do anything about it. The solution is a) to hit Facebook with huge fines & b) actually pursue the fraudsters and charge them in accordance with the Law. They know nobody is coming after them and so there is literally no deterrent..... why would they stop? If they get rumled and "outed" they just create another account. Track them and throw the book at them.
  3. Whether anything is done aboutt hings like this depends on WHO is complaining. With someone of sufficient weight and influence behind the complaint what tends to happen is the authorities allow the project to be completed and become established first. Then they have a better chance of extracting higher sums of money from the owner. Non-compliant owners are served with orders to make the reparations so the building is legal or risk a demolition order. A case in question was the very well extablished condo & hotel pairing in soi Ruamrudee which was taller and wider than the plans that were submitted and also closer to the road than is permitted. Money does tend to be the winner though and the law comes secondary.
  4. The Privvy Council make these decisions and The King historically has followed their advice.
  5. you made your point which conveniently ignored the reason WHY they may not have been interested. Keep digging though by all means.
  6. still on your high horse but conveniently moved the goalposts I see. YOU said it was done to cater for paedophiles - it wasn't. A paedo might well be aroused by it but so too are completely normal heteresexual red-blooded males. Take ur head out of your a s s and stop whining like one of your students. Oh, and stop lecturing adults on what they can and cannot enjoy - or expect to get pulled up about it. I have been much more polite than you deserve.
  7. a month after the tsunami and you're whinging about customer service? Is that a joke? Do you have any idea how much destruction it caused and how many lives it took?
  8. so the increase in prices of almost everything post-covid (world wide) is ok but you expect Thais to just be grateful?
  9. why would you hope for that?
  10. Hats off to the airline for dealing with these clowns properly. Was it really necessary though to promote some nobody Thai Influencer as the reason the story is being reported? Couldn't some journalist have actually done some research i.e done their job and not given this influencer the airtime.........? Most of the people I know are sick to the back teeth of these so-called Influencers as it is. Best not to encourage them.
  11. you can't make someone think that a girl in a Scouts uniform is sexual any more than you can make someone think that the world is flat. Or that God created the earth in 6 days. You either believe it or you don't. To even suggest it is done to sate paedophiles says a great deal about you. A Paedo might be aroused by it but that doesn't make it wrong.......the reaction from the paedo is wrong not the act itself. Paedos are aroused by all manner of oddities.......do we reorganise everything so that they dont become aroused? Get real. Why do you feel the urge to judge people and berate them anyway? Who are you?
  12. what a childish & feeble attempt to bring pitbulls into the conversation.
  13. well at least it makes a refreshing change from Thai women scamming western men out of money.........the forums are full of these guys and they get little sympathy (or help from the law). Now Thais are being scammed its not ok though lol. There back-story to this article is just how many sad, lonely and gullable Thai guys there are. With all the beautiful women in Thailand what on earth is wrong with them?
  14. Dear me, some people have nothing to do except whinge and try to ruin someones day by being offended.
  15. That headline is comical and contradictory. The PM that "Thailand" chose is not the new PM so "Thailand" hasn't chosen a new PM at all..........."lawmakers" have chosen the new PM. He's the unlucky one who has agreed to do their bidding.
  16. I thought Scousers were supposed to have a sense of humour?
  17. who mentioned conspiracy? But now you mention it...............
  18. the definition of caretaker seems to have changed since I was last on Earth........a sweeping and controversial move like this wouldn't come under a caretakers remit would it? But hey.....TIT. Its actually already banned in China because the authorities wanted control so that they could censor what was published and who should BE punished. FB said you're not having it and now its unavailable there. I actually think FB should do a whole lot more than it does to keep its members safe though from scammers and BS and virus-infected adverts. . Maybe Mr Musk will seize on this opportunity and kick Zuckerberg where it hurts most.
  19. Are you saying that Thailand has a different definition of Trial In Absentia ?
  20. not difficult to fathom out why when Influenza cases mysteriously disappeared almost completely during Covid. Now Covid is no longer newsworthy Flu has miraculously returned with a vengeance? Or..............?
  21. I think when God was giving out brains you weren't paying attention, thought he said trains & asked for a slow one.
  22. dont be naive, most Thais WANT him back!!
  23. He wasn't though, are you wanting to start a hypothetical thread nowabout "what if...?" Had he been found innocent a) he wouldn't have fled the lynch mob and spent the last 10 years overseas away from his family and friends & b) the prosecutor would have the right to request a retrial (assuming they had new evidence to illicit a different conculsion) I think it is a given that IF an arrest warrant is issued that person is wanted.......I seriously doubt they'd be issued for someone who wasn't wanted.
  24. I disagree with exploiting the girls like this but I think the issue being raised by the article is that they were operating covertly and not paying "Tax" or T money. Plus he is breaking Employment Law of course by operating in a banned profession anyway and wouldn't have had a work permit or work visa either. All of which are victimless crimes. The actual crime though is almost brushed unfer the table. Every chance he's been being monitored for a while to let the the assetts built up. That declared 9M in the bank was more likely to be considerably higher. I hope they throw the book at him.
  25. he was found guilty in his absence.....he is entitled to be tried again in person. Arrest warrants are issued for people who are fleeing or whose whereabouts is unknown.........he is returning and they know where he is. It speaks volumes that when the Thai authorities asked other Police forces to arrest him and return him they declined as they also opined the charges against him were unproven & mostly trumped up.
