  1. To read or not to read. Isn't this down to the individualand and nothing all to do with the country you live in?
  2. Your legal status in Thailand will determine that. If you're here on a tourist visa then you're a tourist. If not then you're not a tourist.
  3. You need "a" Licence - if you think you don't you're sadly mistaken. Certain countries drive on the right and a License from one of those countries is fine. If you drive from a country not on that list you need an IDL or a Thai one. What other countries do or don't do is irrelevant. Grow up.
  4. that's your concern - if his travel insurance is invalidated? What if he hits and kills someone while driving without a Licence or Car Insurance? What about those people and their surviving relatives?
  5. You're in no position to demand anything if you're driving without a licence. Your "advice" only risks escalating the gravity of the situation to an unnecessary level & you really don't want that.
  6. Thailand is often described as a democracy but it isn't. If it was this type of thing would not be able to continue and there would be a more competitive market with more competitive prices. The lack of competiton is precisely why the ruling elite will never allow a democracy. They like things the way they are and for the most part the populace does not object anyway. Education (or lack of it) enables this also.
  7. You need to have a UK address and telephone number - and they need to believe that you live there. Monzo is an online bank and it's easy to open with both of the above.
  8. the dogs are not horrific? It might be an idea to educate yourself before you make outlandish statements like that. The owner is the one who needs sorting out - with luck the dog can be rehabilitated........fat chance of the owner being up for that. The owner needs jail time - those dogs are lovely but in the wrong hands they are used as a weapon.
  9. The Tourism Minister would appear to have some skin in this game (no pun intended) - he's right though. The holidaymaker crowd can be enticed to drink all night if permitted to do so and they have wallets that need to be emptied. So another hours drinking time on the licensing hours can only be good for the coffers.
  10. these corrupt officials get away with it because everyone is in on it. If it was a handful or one two officers they'd be in the brown stuff. But they make sure those above get their cut and everything is rosy. THAT right there is how the country operates and the "paying it up" goes to the very top.
  11. A serious rap sheet upon entry to The Land of Smiles didn't seem to hinder his progress through passport control. Be interesting to know if he entered as a tourist or on a Non-B and why his criminal record didn't trigger any alarm bells.
  12. How many tourists buy an 8M thb sports car? Something fishy. These Frenchies are nothing but trouble anyway, sad;y these boys appear to have a wealthy benefactor though who will cross the right palms with silver at the station (and compensate the wife) and they'll be on their way.
