    It's bar stool conversation. To have Thai friends you need to speak Thai language. I doubt it's very common to farangs. And speaking English fluently isn't very common either to Thais.

    I don't have the same experience in Chiang Mai, though it's full of tourists, mainly from China. The lunch or dinner buffet at Marriott s was awesome. Best quality. Other buffets at different places with different quality. Some awful, some just to vomit. However, the bit more expensive hotels here offer good food. (maybe possible by influence of Chinese tongues and taste?)

    Do it as you can without pain. There are no rules for it. Swimming is an option. But as I said, avoid what will cause pain. A orthopedist's visit is also an option. But give your body the chance for recovering also. Curcuma longa (Tumeric) is helpful to many people with same problems.

    Yes, once a day a bowl of quality dry food is enough. Btw, there is no difference between a Thai dog and an UK or any other country's dog. If they're younger to feed them twice a day might be appropriate. Getting older less fat but more proteins, amino acids, vitamins. Same as old people.
