  1. I think A/C and an Air Purifier is a must this time of year. With my A/C and Purifier turned on my air quality is 14 ug/m3. If I turn them off and open the windows it goes up to at least 22 ug/m3.
  2. You're right, I thought the max was 10k but it's 20k. Good info to know if they start taxing money brought in via Wise, WU, etc.
  3. I wonder how much cash you can stuff in your pockets and money belt without being caught? Maybe stick $5,000 in your carry on and keep $10,000 in your pockets?
  4. Expats are going to be almost all guys..and western guys at that..and probably not the winners of society. You have to be careful/selective. The really smart/successful expats you'll never encounter, they know what they're doing.
  5. Are you over 55? Do you have a strong prescription? -4.00 or higher? Does your prescription say you have an astigmatism? If so it will say a number under Cylinder? Ex: -0.50. Then another number under Axis. Ex: 066. When you wear your glasses is your vision the same via both eyes? To test you can read something across the room while covering one eye.
  6. Ok, this is similar to my experience. I've bought 3 pairs of eyeglasses in the last 4 years and they can't get my left eye to see 20/20. It's close, but I can definitely see better with my right eye. I'm pretty sure it's because my left eye has an astigmatism..but it could be something else, who knows? I got my last pair a couple of months ago at Terminal 21. I was very thorough with the exam, telling them my left eye wasn't seeing as good as my left..they got a little flustered and suggested I might have to see an eye doctor. I ended up paying 6,000 them for a pair(it took them 30 minutes lol)just to see if they could make it any better than my other 2 pair at home. Turns out it's about the same, my left eye just a little blurry/out of focus. I'm going to see an eye doctor here in Pattaya, she's pretty good maybe it's just an astigmatism and it can be corrected but I'm 58 and I've been wearing glasses since I was 9 and contacts since I was 17 my eyes have been through hell I might have to manage expectations. I do have confidence I'll at least find out what's wrong. Maybe some of this info will help you out. My best suggestion is to go to a different place and tell them your situation, maybe it's your eye(s) and not your prescription.
  7. To the OP I have several questions but first; how much better are your old glasses compared to these new glasses?
  8. Maybe you have an astigmatism? If so it's harder to get an accurate prescription or a good pair of glasses - especially if you're over 55. I got a new pair of glasses 2 months ago, a little better than my last pair but it doesn't quite correct for my astigmatism. Might be time to go see an ophthalmologist.
  9. I trust my ext. HDD to last a long time but you're right, you never know when it will crap out. Would NVMe 2.0 sticks would be more reliable?
  10. Yes, I see the asterisk that says "24 month contract, excluded VAT".
  11. It's such a great deal I sent the promo to my friend. He's here for 7 months out of the year but doesn't want to pay for the 5 months he's back in Utah.
  12. Sounds like a great deal, I don't understand what all 4 items are in this promo though. For 699 baht down from 899 baht you get: 1. 500 Mbps up/down 2. AIS Sim Card 3. AIS Play Box(what is this?) 4. AIS Super Wi/Fi. Is this a Wi/Fi router?
  13. It's ironic that Bill Maher's showrunners have to hire and pay people in the audience to laugh LOUD at every single joke. His writers are hit and miss, you can tell he's had the same one's for decades. Real Time was a good show for the first ten years or so but now it's very lazy..and stale.
  14. 1. A Wendy's Baconator is now about 8 bucks in the U.S. 2. A Wendy's Baconator combo meal is now about 12 bucks in the U.S. Honestly I thought the prices would be higher than this. Still, if I was back in the U.S. I'd very rarely eat at a restaurant or fast food joint.
  15. I've got a Win 10 Mini PC with limited HDD space(for now). I copy a lot of big files to my Ext. HDD(Toshiba 1.5TB) and it's always connected via USB cable. My PC is on approx 12 hours a day, then sleep mode for the other 12. Thanks.
  16. Yep, when the plumbing breaks it all comes out.
  17. This exact situation really happened in Africa and was expertly described in the 1995 NON FICTION book "The Hot Zone"
  18. I have looked at the new Himalayan it's got 40hp although a bit heavy. I've seen reviews where the performance under 3000 is pretty damn sloppy. I need the low end torque I don't think the Himalayan will deliver. You're right about the borders..so for now I'm sticking to Thailand for this year. I rode up to Bangkok and back on my ADV last weekend. 143km each way, no major problems although a lot easier getting out of Bangkok than getting in.
  19. I would go back to Perth to get the pension but don't buy an apartment with the super. After 2 years leave and go back to Thailand or another cheap/fun place to live.
  20. This is the route I'm going to try this Saturday. Thanks for all the tips, especially the Google Maps settings.
  21. Honestly has NOBODY ever heard of a Will? I don't understand, isn't it very common for assets of the deceased to be distributed via a will or trust?
  22. The SR400 is definitely a cool retro but also pricey approx 300,000 baht. A 400X is almost half the price!
  23. I look at it this way. 3bb is 700 baht, the quality is excellent, it is extremely fast and reliable. If I was back in the west it would cost at least 4x as much. I have a neighbor who's here for only 7 months out of the year. He uses his phone for internet it does work but kinda spotty. tbh if I was in his situation the day I arrive here in Thailand I'd go to 3bb and order the 1 year package and right before I left I'd go back to 3bb and canx, even if I have to pay for the whole year it'd be worth it to me. What would you do?

    Rant.

I had a similar thing happen on Pratumnak 5, the guy was flying up the street, swerved and barely squeezed between my bike and an oncoming bus. Limit riding at night, especially near the beach. Stay safe out there fella's.
