  1. The U.S. average is 20¢ kWh but it's really high in California(30¢) and Hawaii(40¢). I think the average here in Thailand today is 11¢ kWh but will rise to almost 13¢ starting in Jan, 2024. Germany is 40¢ kWh. U.K. is 28 pence kWh which equals 36¢ kWh.
  2. Sooo, electricity will be a whopping 17% more expensive next year. OUTRAGEOUS!
  3. I couldn't get the A/C guys to come out soon enough so I woke up and decided to try and unclog the drain line myself. Just getting to the drain line via the A/C was fairly difficult. Once I got to the drain line and disconnected the hose sure enough the water poured from both the drain pan and the hose simultaneously..thankfully I had already laid down a huge towel. Next, I connected my air pump to the drain hose and ran that for awhile. Then, I cleaned up all the slime in the drain pan. Finally I poured bleach in the drain pan/hose. Finally, I've got the PaK Klean Drain Line Cleaner from Lazada on order. Now the A/C is running fine with no more water leaks. IF/when it happens again at least I know how to clear it out. Once again thanks for all your suggestions!
  4. I took all the classes, passed all the tests and swore I'd follow all the motorbike laws/rules...that was exactly one year ago. Now I'm breaking all of them..except I refuse to be the out of control swervy guy riding like a madman through heavy Pattaya traffic. My latest riding sin? I cut through that little gap on Threppasit that's only meant for pedestrians.
  5. Yes, all good methods except I've read that vinegar is acidic and thus bleach should be used instead.
  6. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Right now my game plan is to get the A/C guys to come out and clean my A/C..then, while the A/C is all taken apart I'll blow out the gunk via a handkerchief, then pour bleach down the pipe.. ..and finally once they put the A/C back together I'll place a couple of "Pak Klean Drain Line Cleaner"(ordered off Lazada") into my drain pan and hopefully I'll be free of all this ghostbusters slime mold for a long time. You're right these A/C units are often installed improperly, sometimes simply for aesthetic reasons. I know my drain line is barely sloped down enough, so it's easy for the slime to backup and cause these types of problems.
  7. Thanks, I always try to use Lazada and I found these "PaK Klean Drain Line Cleaner" for 330 Baht. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/pac-klean-1-30g-i299694-s312459.html?from_gmc=1&exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:19668221003!!!!!c!!312459!482293472&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjMKqBhCgARIsAPDgWlwW1zM4tHFHuU6CcdvzCc7BKXxzmqIpt3vRrOmLajZlsp8dKZf2-PwaArnCEALw_wcB
  8. Yes, My A/C does have this function but I've read this method uses a lot more electricity than normal use. I've tried it once it worked very fast.
  9. Yes, whenever I do get somebody here to unclog it I plan on pouring bleach down the pipe to kill a lot of whatever slime is left in there. Also, this is why I want to buy the A/C Flow Tabs but I don't know where to buy them here in Thailand. The Flow Tabs are hard tablets that sit in your drain pan, that prevent the slime from building. My A/C blades get dirty too, I think it's mostly because of the high humidity in my Condo, which usually sits around 60%-70%. I have seriously thought about buying a dehumidifier as I've read that you get much better air quality with the humidity around 35%-50%..anything over 50% is not good. Thanks for your reply, very helpful!
  10. Can an A/C repair shop unclog a drain line coming out of a Split A/C? I'm on the Condo 2nd floor. My Split A/C is leaking all over the floor. The drain line is clogged with mold/gunk. The drain line goes from the A/C into the wall and worms down through the building but nobody knows where it ends. The last time this happened(4 months ago) the A/C guy just blew into the drain hose, which was so nasty he almost passed out. Maybe Jomtien Air or Numchai can do a more professional unclogging? Anyone know where I can buy A/C Drain Line Tablets/Flow Tabs to keep the drain clean?
  11. If they do start taxing expat pensions I'll just wait and see how much it really costs. If it's less than a thousand Euros/Dollars a year I'll probably stay. However, I will spend less of my hard earned €/$/฿ to make up the difference. Fewer restaurants Less tipping Fewer in country trips Less shopping Drink more water lol If it's over a thousand a year I'll consider moving but I think we all need to understand it's not getting cheaper anywhere in the world.
  12. "Electricity charging cost via MG HOME CHARGER from 0% – 100% approximately 200 Baht per full charge"
  13. Can you purchase "YouTube TV" outside the U.S.?
  14. Here's an easy workaround: 1. Click on the YouTube video 2. Click the browser back button 3. Click the browser forward button 4. No Ads
  15. just to be on the safe side I'll PM you links for a dehumidifier, hygrometer, air purifier. Also, someone posted you can use the dry mode on your A/C. Yes, you can do this to lower your humidity but it uses a lot of energy and not recommended to ever use more than 1 or 2 hours at a time.
  16. haha yes, lot's of cheap crap but dehumidifers are simple machines. Can I post a lazada link or is it not allowed?
  17. They are 2 separate things. The only way I can get my humidity below 50% is with a dehumidifier, otherwise it's always between 60%-80% which kills me. Lots of dehumidifiers on Lazada, they suck the water out of the air and fill it into a little reservoir which you have to dump out every day or two. I have two small ones, one for the bathroom and one for my living area.
  18. 1. An Air Purifier will remove dust particles from the air. I have a Xiaomi Air Purifier I bought on Lazada for about 40 Euros. The filter lasts anywhere from 6-12 months. 2. Before buying a humidifier or dehumidifier I'd buy a hygrometer to measure what the humidity % is in your residence. 3. For people suffering with allergies/sinus problems the humidity should be anywhere from 30%-50%. Anything over 50% can certainly make your life miserable. Why? Because all the dust/dirt/mold particles thrive on high humidity. By forcing the humidity down, the mold cannot multiply as much, and the dust and dirt won't stick to everything as much and thus much easier to remove from all surfaces. 4. If your using the A/C a lot it needs to be cleaned at least twice a year as the blades can be coated with dust/mold/mildew. I was shocked the first time I used a flashlight to look at my A/C blades! 5. I pay Daikin 900 baht to do my A/C cleaning here in Pattaya they do excellent work. Pro Tip: If you get your A/C cleaned AND keep your humidity below 50% all the time your sinus issues my be greatly improved AND your A/C may stay cleaner much longer.
  19. I would have bought a Big Mac and shoved it in his Eff'ing face!
  20. I flew here last year from Vegas on a one way ticket. Yes, I did buy an onward flight ticket for about 15 USD just in case. However, once I arrived in Bangkok I didn't need to show it to them. Still, I think it's a good idea to purchase one just in case. Always be one step ahead.
  21. My friend flew out of Don Muang yesterday. He texted me it took "one minute" to get his re-entry permit.
  22. I got lucky and was somehow built with a self defence mechanism. I grew up lower class and didn't try at all in school. I had no way nor desire to go to college. The only plan I had was to play the long game. I ate a lot of sh!t at my job but always found a way to have fun as well. I made a million mistakes but nobody really had the heart to fire me. Never got married, never had kids and retired from my horrible job on my 42nd birthday.
