Cheers, yes I tihnk the Zencar is the cheapest and I read it has no wifi or app..... Let's see....Im still undecided, was looking at some second hand corolla crosses today....noooooooo, this is way to difficult!!!!!

Wallbox people were at my house, I wasn't there but they said it was no problem to install the charger and no need to contact MEA. They asked where the charger would go, asked how I park front or back to see where the charging point would be etc. They recommended 3 chargers: Schneider Charge 7.4KW Autel MaxiCharger 7.4KW Zencar Wpro 7.4KW No prices yet, they said quote tomorrow. I am still having doubts but at least I now know that if I do get the Atto 3 Extended then I can install the charger at home and ask the landlord and give him some concrete info. What is bugging me now is resale in a few years if I do move on and also bit of worry of preparing trips etc. But also, BYD have made everything so easy looking at another car now is feeling really tedious and no real options I like out there!

Would this video give you pause if you were thiking of buying a BYD EV now??

I’ve had a Quick Look and can’t find any pole like this outside my house or even wires going into my house - must be underground??

I’ll try to get those pictures for everyone tomorrow, thanks for the help so far. I’ve also been in touch with wall box, apparently the do wall chargers and are gonna send an electrician out to do a free survey next week. the only thing with not going with the official one is that I’m guessing my landlord will want a good job and at least the official company would probably guarantee that. I also did some detective work and saw some questions about wall chargers in my moobaans line group - all in Thai but I did a google translate, images attached. finally, as the day I need to finalize the booking comes near I’m having some doubts….i know driving around Bangkok is not going to be a problem, specially if I can get home and charge but we often do day trips to the beach in pattaya - drive there and back in the day…..Also have my parents visiting from Europe and will want to take them to rayong or similar for a week holiday and this starts to make me feel nervous……how does one plan these trips? How do you know when and where to stop? Do you need to book chargers in advance? Does a 3 hour drive to rayong now require a stop in between? sorry, I know these will be stupid questions for most! But I’m suddenly fearing all the longer drives I need to do….do you check with hotels if they have chargers and you have to reserve theme etc?

Thanks this is very helpful. I’ll try when I get home or tomorrow to find it. they only needed the main breaker in my house, they saw the 60A and said a second circuit would be needed. these are the byd charger sales people - they have quoted 42k all in
-
Finally is it crazy to buy an EV if charging at home is not possible? Anyone do it?
-
I get the bill, it’s just one of those orange slips….i get it and pay. Not sure meter type. I live in a big Moobaan, most houses have wall chargers. i have 2 plugs outside the front driveway image attached:

Thank you everyone for your help, you have all offered some sound advice. unfortunately I still have some doubts. 1. They are refusing to come out until after payment. 2. My landlord wants details which I guess we don’t have until after they survey. 3. Not sure exactly if the portable charger that comes free would be ok to use until we have a wall charger? Is the portable charger that comes free the granny charger? This charges like at 1.2 kw right? 4. Would it be feasible to buy even if in the end I can’t get the wall charger at home or is this CRAZY? thanks.
-
Yep, I sent them the images lf the mains breaker and the one here and they send needed another circuit. I’ve got there phone, will pass on to landlord and hope for the best. its gonna cost another 43k all in I think so I’m gonna wait and if I pull the trigger I’m gonna granny charge and use a fast charger at the petrol station. Hope can get the wall charger at home though!

I live in a big Moobaan, not sure where the meter outside would even be!🤣😂
-
im sure this is sound advice, however im renting and don’t think I can do that. Attached is my house meter
-
It seems like there is no second line needed but a second circuit. This is what they said: Here are the steps. 1. After the payment is made. Our installation team will install both the charger and the 2nd circuit, but not connected to the power yet. 2. Your landlord must contact with electrical authority to ask for upgraded meter. 3. Electrial authority will check your house and change the meter and connect the power. they say electrical authority charges like 700 baht - does this sound correct?
-
Good question! so, are you allowed to install a second line? I’d like to know before going back to my landlord. also, is it crazy to buy without having the wall charger at home?
-
Is this something that the landlord might not want or any reason? Apparently the zhida not available, now it’s the autel at a more expensive price.
-
What negative implications for my landlord would a second line being if any?
-
Sent them a picture of my power meter in my house and it apparently says 60A which apparently is not enough and a new line would need to be installed. they have now quoted 32,000 + 9900=41,900 does all this sound above board? Cost seems to be going up from the motor show price which is good to now add an extra 42k…. please let me know if this sounds above board as I have no clue….
-
Thanks, any ideas if a new line will be needed and if anything needs to be prepared? also, you have the byd atto3? Is that zhida charger ok? thanks
-
The cheapest wall charger is zhida model, 25k. cant seem to answer questions about if a second line would be needed…landlord has specifically asked if a new line will need to be installed and what needs to be prepared
-
So, for a newbie….what is what they call a portable charger? is that not recommended? Might have to use it until the wall charger is installed or if I can’t install it. booking fee has been confirmed to be returned in full if finance not accepted. they didn’t want to send someone to check house for installation instead asked for my landlords phone but insisted and they are going to see options. thanks
-
Thanks for this. I’m going to get the guy form the dealership or their electrician to come and look. They said the wall charger starts from 25k - think I’ll get that one if landlord approves. good to know can do with the granny charger for a while.
-
So, for EV owners out there - some last minute specific questions: 1. Do they need to install a second line for the wall charger at home? I rent my house and landlord has asked this? 2. What happens if you move out? Does the wall charger stay or can you take it with you? 3. Any thing I need to know if I am about to pull the trigger on an EV? 4. Can one live with the slow charger until the wall charger is installed? questions about wall charger are from my landlord - friend of my got his to agree no problem so not sure but wanted to check. thinking of getting the atto3 - been told I can book for a fee and then in January I can pay the down payment and do financing etc. anything I need to be aware of? reason for this is I am going to Europe for Xmas and won’t be back until January.

Can someone give some tips for a first timer? How much does it cost - best day to go etc?

Is the veloz then an ok option even if a new one is coming out sometime soon?
