    Yes, it's significantly clearer today and Bang Saray is visible from the top end of Jomtien Beach Road whereas previously it was not. Still not exactly blue skies as I understand them, but they rarely are in the tropics.

    Yesterday was the best day for visibility in the 20 days I have been in Jomtien,I walked 7km this morning and at the end of it my t-shirt was soaked it's warming up.

    Villa market is far too expensive..but what annoys me the most is their staff who never know anything, of course can't speak english but even if you ask something like "mee kiwi daeng mai'? , because she had them last week and i don't see them now...she has no idea what you''re talking about....it's her department and she is there every day....i bet she even put the pricetag on them...

    Or we needed some small onions (soup onions in thailand), 20 baht in foodland and 100 baht in Villa market.

    Then we needed some beef stockcubes, totally sold out....for many weeks.

    Even when i don't care about the high prices this shop always frustrates me a lot...better go to Foodland.

    Saying it's 20 baht in one shop and 100 in another means very little, you need to quote the kg or ltr price to make any sense.I can buy a pot of peanut butter in one supermarket for say €6 a kg and for €4 in another, great get the one for €4 untill you read the label and the €4 only contains 48% peanuts the €6 contains 85-100% peanuts, you do read the labels and check the kg price don't you? Like for like or kg/ltr price or it means nothing, then you have to take into account factory farmed, free range and biological, grass fed beef, American corn fed,is it on it's use by date, best before date etc, it's a minefield out there.

    Operators were asked to welcome all tourists not just Chinese !  Thats very considerate of the authorities.

    Seriously, TAT has got China on the brain. They must have sleepless nights tossing and turning counting Chinese sheep.

    I vividly recall the TAT going histerical about the awesome arrival of Russian tourism to Pattaya/jomtein some years back. They were going to build great things in Thailand. Remember that?lol

    Turned out they were just a bunch of tattooed Siberian shoplifters many whom travelled on borrowed money.

    Why are the Chinese going to Pattaya anyway?.Its a beer bar town with a unswimable polluted beach.

    Farangs won't want to go there if thousands of Chinese are milling around with cameras turning their nose up at them.

    Strange times we live in.

    At least there is a beach and it looks rather good,I saw it for the first time a few days ago since they reclaimed! it.dont bother showing me your pictures of the bits that don't look so good overall it looks ok.

    Why are you standing around watching indian men standing around hookers on beach rd.

    Are you a zero baht farang.

    I was walking down beach road an hour ago and in the distance I saw a large group of people as I got closer I saw they were from India I also saw that a few guys had detached themselves and indeed they were gawking with their tongues hanging out at a worn out hooker,It's called making an observation and at no time was I standing around and I had a bag with me that contained about 5000 baht of purchases.

    No sorry, 4 times. But there are some recipes which say leave for 24 hours without kneading. Very confusing.

    I am a beginner at this bread making lark. ! Obviously.

    No knead bread with a long rise time may be the way to go in Thailand as the dough is put in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours,I think the ambient temperature must mean a long learning curve to get it right.the only additive allowed in France is ascorbic acid=vitamin c.

    I have never bought eggs at 7/11 and it must be years since I bought any from any supermarket.

    Either my wife or I go to the local market and buy 30 size zero eggs for 120/130 baht a tray.

    Bloody hell how many eggs can two people eat? I buy six at a time so I have them as fresh as possible keep them in the fridge and take two out the night before I boil them for breakfast.

  7. The beach is at least as busy as last year, same with the restaurants eating at the market and kiss are packed every night, the bars are quite not much happening there not dead but dying.

  8. I did it last year in a guesthouse soi3 jomtien.I wanted to see if I could handle it,the room was big with a large a very large fan on the floor but being on the top floor #5 it got the full sun on it and it was really hot sometimes especially coming back from the market with a couple of bags and then climbing to the fifth floor I could have done with airco. The other disadvantage of the cheap guesthouses is the quality of the Mattress and bedding,a plastic covered mattress and cheap artificial fabric bedding does not make for a cool relaxed night's sleep, also only having a mini fridge that turned off every time you left the room was a frustration.

    I could have done it if the room was out of the direct sunlight a decent bed and bedding and a big fridge that stayed on.I am back in Jomtien soi6 the Inn place with the airco set at 25c, 900baht a night.

    Come to Thailand and spend your time in shopping malls, how depressing is that?   Never been near T21 and never will.  Forced by Mrs Pilotman to go to Central 2 days ago, never again.  I told her that if she ever wants to go mall shopping again, or indeed anywhere near Pattaya City, she can take a taxi.

    I have been in Jomtien for two weeks this morning for the first time I will take the bus into Pattaya, head to terminal 21 for a look and work my way back down to pick up the bus back to jomtien, will look in the central festival and mikes to see if it's improved after renovations.

    There's nothing depressing about doing a bit of shopping now and again it's how we get clothes on our backs and shoes on our feet myself I need a summer jacket for a wedding in August and some shorts for walking in that are loose light and airy.Walking around I think that some of us should go shopping where they can actually try the clothes on and look in a mirror.Do you still buy your clothes from the littlewoods catalog.

    Sorry i misunderstood.. yes I get it i had (soon to have again) problem. I had little bodyfat but was obese according to the BMI. Now I do have some bodyfat a say 6 kg or so that i need to lose. I decided to go slow.. high in protein and workout. Then it will be ok but even if the abs show again I will be obese according to the BMI.

    So its worthless for people with muscle.

    It's not for fit people or even thin people it's a tool to tell most of us where we stand roughly in the overweight scale.A lot of the sites are a bit hysterical if you are a 30 they scream that you are obese and give a long list of problems that you have or will definitely die from if you don't diet right now.use smartbmicalculator.com

    A ridiculous and totally unreliable method, most NFL and rugby players would be classed as  obese by the BMI measurement.  Why people continue to peddle this nonsense astounds me.

    It's just one way of measuring if you are overweight on its own it's not the be all and end all, another and possibly! better measure is your waist size 37 inches and above is considered seriously bad.its also ridiculous to peddle nonsense that full time professional sportsman are in any way representative of the general population astounds me.

    When will the Baht weaken!

    It's not just the Pound going down.

    Since highs about mid July 2018 the USD and the EUR have significantly lost against the Baht.

    Approx. currency market since July:

    USD 33.45 -> 31.80
    EUR 39.24 -> 36.10

    GBP 44.12 -> 40.95

    They are the market rates on the ground, today in the TT exchange its €35:85.its the lowest rate for many a year.I don't really expect it to rise significantly if at all that goes for the Euro and the Pound,I am in Jomtien been there for a week now brought my first lady drink yesterday a 70baht tiger for me she had a Chang 120baht €4:72 it seemed a lot when I brought it but seeing it's less than €5 it's no big deal especially when I see back home in the Netherlands a beer in a bar has crossed the €3 threshold.

    I was waiting for that. Doublespeak. Low to no carb on both. And even that article shows that the Keto and Paleo diets are not only difficult to maintain, but not as good as a well balanced diet.

    Hey the Keto works for you, fabulous. You have seen the light. This mere sinner is going to stick to the classic. I cant wait to have a nice baked tater with Benecol when I get back to the USA.

    Don't forget to eat the skin.

    As I read the current literature,  weight training and the type there of is a decision to be made by the individual patients cardiologist based on his evaluation of the patients circumstances.

    The latest is for the over 40s to weight train over cardo but that's for healthy individuals,we seem to be getting advice for "patients" from their cardiologist and others who I guess have type2 diabetes from their physician and maybe some with serious overweight problems.

    For guys like me who don't have any diagnosed health problems and at 67 are a bit flabby and could lose 5-10kg

    Anything in the 7-11 except water is a no-no, good carbs are necessary for good health so it's wholemeal bread and grains, nuts and seeds (unsalted),fresh vegetables and salads all sorts (a rainbow),fresh fruit..eggs are ok unsweetened plain yoghurt, good fresh sea fish not the fresh water fish and shrimps that you see outside most Thai restaurants,a couple of bits of meat a week is enough a bit of cheese maybe.READ THE LABELS on packages and learn what they mean Google the product

    Live long and prosper.

    Depends what the 6K walk is. Inclined and speed.

    Yes it varies, the 350 calorie estimate includes some hills and average 6-7km/h. Whats your 6k? my point is don't kid yourself its doing more than it is

    6k is probably the very minimum everybody should try to get to at least 10k,one thing a fitness tracker does is monitor your heart rate not as accurate as a chest strap but will give you some idea of the effort you are putting in.

  16. For the first time ever that I have seen there were two people raking and sieving sand on the areas that did not have chairs/recliners and parasols on dongtan beach jomtien. The people who run the chairs clean their own bit but seemingly don't even attempte to tidy the rest up.i did notice the streets were looking reasonable clean of litter and not so much plastic on the beach that came in with the tide.

    MS, please bear with my lack of understanding.  I looked at this link and I'd like to know how it works.  I have a WiFi device in the house which can support up to 10 client devices, and currently have 2 Win7 desktops and 1 Android Smartphone which my wife uses.  If this device can connect to the wifi, and with my TV using a HDMI cable, and I get a Netflix subscription, am I good to get Netflix on my TV?  But how do I tell this device the wifi SSID and Key because as far as I can see there is no UI?  I can't imagine how that could be done using the supplied remote control.  And similarly how do I use this device to get other free channels such as Aljazeera, BBC, NHK, CNN, kid's CN, etc, in the same way I can get them on my Win7 desktop.

    I don't have a Smartphone, and have no interest in getting one.  I believe they are a threat to society.

    My interest is not only in getting Netflix, but being able to free myself from the grip of TrueVisions, a truly awful service in terms of value for money.

    Cheers, UW.

    Whatever you plug into your HDMI port on your TV will need an application to run it and you will need a phone a laptop/pc to download the app to.I use an android phone and Chromecast as the are both owned by Google they are integrated, when I open it up the first time the Chromecast only needs the password it doesn't need SSID etc.you are making what is very simple unnecessarily complicated.
