  1. Like I said ,I put them on a external HD, plug it into a sony vgn-aw11 that plugs into my sony bravia 46X4500 hd tv and use VLC as it works BETTER than windows media.its that simple

They are there on the HD so you can lend it out or use it anywhere.also they are backed up.

Of course you must always remember what ever hardware you have [mine is good] crap in crap out so a bad down load will be no good.likewise a bad stream.

VLC has so far handled whatever I have thrown at it on linux or windows.

  2. Well I download movies from the net on to an external HD with a PC running ubuntu.

I then plug the HD via usb onto a laptop that connects to my sony hd tv via hdmi,

sounds convulted but it works fine.the laptop runs vista

If you get them from torrents best just read the comments to see if the movie is ok,

Windows media player is a problem so I use VLC works for me.

  3. Any day now I have a 46inch sony bravia hd tv being delivered.

I have a PS3 coming with it as it has one of the best blueray players

that you can buy,it will connect with wi-fi so i can surf the net as well.

Ihave never done any gaming so i might get into it.

I might get a Wii aswell as they seem like 2 different experiences.

  4. I had the same problem in snooky Cambodia, was on holiday and felt like shit was staying downtown,

Its a toxic mix of dust, charcoal making, cooking with charcoal, traffic pollution, and the burning of

plastic waste and garbage in general.

Then throw in the burning of all that fake money and whatever else they were burning outside every

dwelling during the chinese new year its a health nightmare.

PP was the same Bangkok seemed ok but the heat in the city is a killer.

please let us all know if you know somwwhere non toxic.

  6. OK so I use Ubuntu I surf the net, download music some e-books [sony PRS-505 cool]

download the odd movie watch a bit of porn the normal stuff that men do.

I do my banking online and only use the pc with ubuntu when i need to use my creditcard.

I have no anti-virus and the only firewall is with the router

    so how safe am i?

I have a pc with vista that is new and fast but I never put cc details with that i only use AVG with that.

    I also have a Acer1 net book running linux,and a Nokia810 internet tablet.

If i have to use my CC to pay bills ,airline tickets, banking etc i only use the pc running ubuntu.

    what do i need?

  7. get a e-visa online $25 take the bus to trat and the minibus to the border like the man said.

You do have to get from the border crossing to the town its a motodop or taxi you have to do it

just give one of the guys your bag and go through the passport visa rigmarole and get into

town if you have the money get your own taxi to snooky or share one.

or stay overnight and get a bus in the morning the 4 bridges are open and as its the dry season

[we hope] it should be painless you may have to change to another minibus/bus when you hit

highway4 as your bus may only go to PP.

Unless you have your own transport with all the papers its a bit of a trek it really almost takes 2 days.

From BKK to Trat to the border check out/in to KK stay the night a bus to snooky etc etc.

  8. I got my shures at bangkok airport and thats the only place i have seen the se5s, and they cost an arm and a leg.I got the 3s as I read that the 5s were a bit big fit wise that is .

They are good though but saying that they will get a bit uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

As the pound is crashing it might pay to get them from the UK.

  9. Every time this topic pops up we get the same crap and most miss the point by a country mile.

ITS ABOUT THE RIGHT TO A SMOKE FREE WORKPLACE.

I dont give a damm if you smoke or not its your right too choose, but its not your right

to smoke in the place that I have to spend 8hours a day working.

so NO smoking in the workplace

  10. I just got a Nokia N810 internet tablet ,it can access the net with wi-fi only, well also via bluetooth and your mobile.

Its about a third bigger than my 80gb Ipod.

I can fill up mini/micro sd cards with music and with my shure headphones it sounds better than the Ipod so i can

    ditch the The Ipod.

Now this tiny computer is only for me on my travels, so I can do my banking and check my mail and a small amount

of surfing its not a replacement for a full size or even a netbook such as my acer1.

Most important its not a phone and I do not want to spend any more time on a computer than i have too.

So as long as I can find wi-fi I can go on the net and do the basics and get back to relaxing

So I now have a tiny computer-Ipod-gps-maps that fit in my pocket and there is loads of software to download

Oh and I have Skype that works.

Its linux of course so no paying for anything of course you do need wi-fi cost me 320euro.

There is a wi-max version out.

So With my tiny samsung mobile and the nokia tablet i can carry even less, should get the bag down to less than 8kg.

Oh will download some e-books and load them on to a 8gb SDcard. :D:o
