Insurance company refuses to pay, what can they do?
rabiedabruce replied to rabiedabruce's topic in Health and Medicine
What is OIC? And again, the husband is Thai, so no need for translation. This is not an 'asking for a friend' post, I genuinely wanted to help. But some of the replies reminds me of what I was told by a wise businessman many years ago 'Never try to help anyone'. -

Wrong. I remember some music gig many years ago and they had a screen projector alongside with all the bad things foisted upon us, one was 'fine print'. This was twenty years ago, I never forgot it because it's TRUE. -

No. Should have asked, but don't want to appear too intrusive. -

How about 'because we've 'ad your money'? I've no idea. The wife's pretty smart and would've checked the policy. I'll ask when I next see him. I merely posted to see what action they could take as they're talking about having the op done in a clean professional 'don't treat you like a child' Malaysia for half the price. Very unfair if they've already paid. Imo, Thai hospitals are arrogant and greedy. -

You'd think it would cover bloody cancer at 60k per year .. -

Not a 'conspiracy theory', one of my lawyers ended up dumping me and working for my opponent. Another was bribed to try to persuade me to drop the case. Lawyers have no integrity here and most want 300k as soon as you walk in the door. Ever been to Phuket? -

Thanks for this, the husband is Thai so he will understand it. I'll pass it on. -

In my experience, they check the insurance will pay before administering any treatment. -
My neighbour's wife was diagnosed with cancer and their insurance company is refusing to pay for surgery even though they've been paying 60,000 baht for the past five years. Needless to say, they are extremely worried, the tumor is near her heart (no she's not Thai). I've advised they might try the Ombudsman here on Phuket, was I right? Good advert for self insurance I think, they would have 300k if they'd saved it themselves which would cover the cost of the op. Disgusting. Needless to say it's a Thai company.

You mean like the carpet bombing of global corporate media these last three years?

In the meantime Indonesia has banned any extension to their visas. Can't think why ..

It's the Ukrainians who are cannon fodder in this US proxy war and yes, they are here too, having a dust up in Patong. You overly fond of corporate media?

I have personal experience of an imm official taking a backhander to ignore a person with an arrest warrant and therefore blacklisted to fly OUT of Suvaranbhumi. Common knowledge bribes work both ways. They just make an example of one or two now and again to pretend they're doing something. Not all the bribes are coming from those wanting to stay inside.

Just this morning here on little Moscow some driver leant on his horn all the way up my soi as a neighbour was unloading his parked car. The Russian then got out and took a swipe at his side mirror. The neighbour said he was of course Russian. The Thais are complaining the 'government' brought them here (along with the equally repugnant Chinese), displacing their once liked European tourists. The junta doesn't have to mix with them and the Euros are staying away in droves. Well done you muppets.

Purachai had all the bars close at 12 pm, even in Bangkok. Tumbleweed rolling down Silom and Sukhumvit. And THEN he brought in the 2 to 5 no alcohol sales. So 'Tony' may have been better at industry but none of them know anything about what tourists want and it's not all beer bars and karaoke. They are, after all, just a generation away from the swamp.
