My road tax and compulsory insurance (10 year old car) is up for renewal in early November, but I plan to make a quick trip out of Thailand around the time. How many day or months in advance can I do the vehicle inspection and renewal? Thanks.

Thank you. From the banner it looks like a wellness clinic. Probably not what Nigel meant.

Could anyone point me to the CMU Outreach Clinic at Ruamchok mentioned by Nigel? I couldn't find it on Google Maps.

Chiang Mai tourism: Haze issue risks long-stay senior tourist numbers
bg53 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
It's quite sad that the petition has to be framed around economic losses and the absence of tourists. Thousands upon thousands of Thai lives suffer direct health consequences. -

Presnock said he could get the "year's statement" from Bangkok Bank in a day's time. Everyone I asked (bank too) said that would take a few days.

Which branch? Two CM branches of Bangkok Bank I asked both said they needed 5 business days to do it, which is a week.

Extension of Non-O (retirement). Passbook-less
bg53 replied to bg53's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thank you. You are right about the rules. How the Chiangmai office interprets those rules is the issue because applicants cannot go around them. It would be great if specific experience with this office can be shared. -
Asking for a friend. Immigration Office: Chiangmai In August he will apply for a 1 year extension (renewal) of his non-O visa (by reason of retirement, >800k). He consolidated his money (< 2mil baht) into an SCB e-savings account, which is passbook-less. Since he has no passbook for that account, will he face any hurdles getting his extension? Any advice?
-
Pardon me for one more (stupid) question: If I obtain a new pp early next year, what would I need to do to keep the non-O valid? I hate to restart the whole process if the non-O is nullified.
-
Gosh so it goes down to the discretion of an IO. Never a good thing! I just noticed my passport is only valid for 12 months less 4 days after the validity period of current extension. Will that be another issue?
-
more details: 1. I moved the money over a period of 2 days. 2. The money was moved 3 months 1 week after the "date issued" on the original (first) 1 year non-O extension, but less than 3 months after the "valid until" date.
-
Thank you. It was most certainly the same day (movement of money) or over 2 days (in batches). Not sure I fancy my chances with the whims and discretion of an IO! Any regulations or personal experience of what I should do in this situation?

Thank you DrJack54 for your clear answers. Oh goodness. I am not sure whether I waited 3 months before doing that. I opened up a new account which had a higher interest rate and moved the money (well over 800K baht). So on this technicality I will be refused an extension? What do you advise?

My non-O (retirement) visa will expire end June. My immigration office is CM. Because I must travel extensively and plan ahead, I need to know: 1. What is the earliest date before expiration I can apply for an extension? 45 days? 60 days? 2. Is it true my passport needs 18 months' validity to apply for extension? 3. I had more than 800K in one bank, but 10 months ago moved all the money into a new account with another bank (also under my name). For proof of income what hurdle or detail should I be aware of? A big thank you!
