immigration website is in thai and english are people dealing with non speaking thai , aka immigration, not able to speak one international recognized business language that is even thought in school ? I did mention my ex got citizenship, in farangland, as we were married in farangland , lived there a few years then moved to TH, did court divorce as there was children and property involved, you don't do that in ampur unless you have neither children not property... I am divorced now for several years. Ex started the divorce procedure and all. I expected she would have also done the needed steps for the embassy. Sadly she got citizenship after a few years in farangland... doing nothing off course... no test, no money in the bank, ... I am not remarrying anymore, nor do I have plans to return to farangland. I did not bother to do the whole mfa certification, translation, stamps this and that as I assumed ex would have done, being a citizen and wanted her freedom and all. Any repercussion for me if I never checked till now for my status. What does she have to gain? Widow pension if I die ? We are divorced for TH and living in TH... Embassy does trust Thai papers from official government as much as ampure need a certified copy by the embassy of a passport that delivered...

for parent of thai child extension YES (did a few times since divorce) for being married and doing that extension NO, but they need to be on the pictures you have to take inside and out...

did you google SP immigration, look at the reviews unless you think all the bad reviews are from me with tens of different accounts over the years... you did not read I was divorced and since then immigration has red flagged me... right? the aunt of my ex worked at immigration, not that one, never had a problem, for a while even got VIP service cut the line, because of that, 10+ years ago I went with my children after the divorce, an IO spoke to them, 14 year old that time instead of me, the adult... and instead of helping and changing my old married extension to parent of thai child, they cursed us to f off... my kids graduated from high school and are on holiday now could not attend, hence, they asked me to up bank to 800k and do a retirement visa sole... which I did, not a little child ... with all documents in hand... common after divorce and now.... same IO keeps making everything... almost impossible

you obviously did not read the part of the HOSTILE EX that agreed to do this in family divorce court, never did it actually, no repercussions for not following the agreement, lawyers asking 100k to write a simple WRIT to ask the court she would be forced, while the clerk at court bluntly replied: she did nothing wrong, aka, nothing you can do about it... bring the lawyer...also does not solve the puzzle if immigration is asking for a paper you cannot provide... and IO knows from day one, years ago, that ex is hostile and will never provide such document, even I have a divorce court agreement stating I could live there till kids are 20... they are the ruler of the world that day, the corrupt IO to decide over your life and stay, higher than the judge/court/lawyer...

if you look up samut prakarn immigration in google https://www.google.com/search?q=samut+prakan+immigration you can look up tens or hundreds of reviews the positive reviews probably are from agents as normal users have nothing positive to say I am not the only one complaining about the incompetence, rudeness, other people seeing they are playing phone, chatting, during so called working hours, bad service, arrogance... my ex wife's aunt worked at another immigration office, and when still married, never had any problem, ... since divorce, with ex out for revenge, kids siding with me against her, I am pretty sure the evil IO was contacted (corruption, ...) to make my stay as difficult or impossible, as after the divorce, I had to go get an multi and leaving every 90 days or less... as locally they were doing everything to deny my normal application with money in the bank, documents and always asking for new... specially ex was hostile and did not provide any documents we agreed on in family court... I complained to her boss, a few years ago, till, so was been told, they were about to throw me out of the office, while I insisted they help me sort this out as I was the only care giver for my children at that time, but did not bother them at all. so for complaining to the boss, they are part of this big ... let's not get sued and use names that could be libel... for the replies: I had all the documents as I always do, what is not clear? everything needed for a retirement visa and even more like documents of children's id card, tabien baan, birth certificate, pictures of them in school uniform in front of school logo (they tried to pull that one a few years ago, but had one on my phone but where is that listed on any immigration website), proof of payment of school, ... where does it state you need all that info on a retirement visa ??? NOWHERE is for sure.... tricks to force you to use on of them connected agents. While I was waiting for ZERO people waiting before me for 75 minutes , there were some agents with no documentation and a stack of passports going in and out in a few minutes... 13 counters to help but only a few really working... doing nothing at all... nice job... most of them over there HARDLY speak any UNDERSTANDABLE English... the times I went there with my kids, they spoke to them instead of me, the adult parent... suggesting I change province because of some corrupted evil IO ? someone saying I have no kids? what ? they are on holiday ... but I explained to them they will not be back before my extension expire... you did read the title ... almost ... Only after I threaten to call the higher up, evil IO disappeared for some time, made me wait another 90 minutes before I got my extension... wanting to see my bankbook again, while I made copies and for the bank letters, stating 800k for 3 months and another 6 month statement from the bank so with all documents, the magical in and out in 30 min as some other posters write, did not happen and spend 3 hours to what was supposed to be an easier option then parent of thai child, which initially was denied by same evil woman years ago, with all needed documentation presented... to end the story... she told me, next year you leave thailand... which I replied with... no I will be back, as I will have a few remaining months left before my child turns 20... but let me guess, there will be a problem that I don't have a 12 month rental contract left, once again... the arrogance and incompetence and abuse of these people given little power...

very good and realistic info except the IO in my case, first time they denied my extension, laughed and said, just go back to your home country... I explained the mother has no intention of taking care of the child, met with devil LAUGH... extension denied... no empathy, no sympathy... went to embassy abroad as those losers right in front of me did not want to help... my ex aunt worked for immigration so there might have been extra red tape against me as custody was a real battle... ex out for revenge.. but off course, where could I complain I was threated unfairly, even provide all documents officially demanded... pushing to use an agent... but none could even help as this is not as easy as a retirement visa... shared custody... this is what most judges rule... hardly ever sole custody...what immigration wants to see... ex was hostile, immigration hostile... corrupt lawyers like to prey on people also... giving false hope to try to get sole custody, 100k they were asking, quoted a dozen to be sure... off course, with zero promise of success, but they could try... payment upfront off course... long battles in court or many visits at 30k per once + 5k at least in transport on top and VAT...

I had a parent of thai child extension for years. Not without problems as I was denied 3 times by the same evil woman immigration officer that had joy in trying deny my visa many times, even with all needed papers for the extension, she kept on asking for more papers that I could not provide... So this year, being 50+, I thought... let's do a retirement extension. I had all my normal papers and copies needed and money in the bank, bank documents, etc... For starters... I arrived at 13.30 and had ZERO people in front of me. I thought, nice, I read about 30 min in and out and happy way home. No people in front of me. waited 75 minutes before the 'lady' from hell, which I had years before, denying my parents of thai child visa, serving me. they have like 13 different places where they could help people, but one or two were active, the rest, I don't know, taking a break, playing on phone, everything except helping people. I gave 2 copies of everything, habit... she asked me 2 copies? I said yes... ah... only need one... ok... where you kids ? I reply: I am here for a retirement visa... kids on holiday they finished high school... they will go to uni... where you kids? You no support them, I think they not live with you, no visa. euh? I said I am not here for this... I have all documents for retirement visa and money in the bank oh I suspect you no take care of kids, no visa... WHAT? I am in the exceptional situation from most, seems all the time, that I live in the house of my ex, as agreed in court, till they are 20, so I don't have a rental contract like most people, but kids are not 20 yet, but graduated high school, told me that they would travel, so I better prepare 800k for a retirement visa, I explained... Visa denied... Got my lawyer on the phone, ask her to speak with nasty immigration lady, but she was not interested. I showed her proof of school semester fee that I paid, selfie of them in uniform in front of school, as they asked previous years... I had their birth certificate, blue book copies, etc.. even I was there for a retirement visa and totally not needed. She denied my visa, till I asked her if a certain immigration officer still worked here, as I would call this person to report I have all the documents and this evil lady did not want to give my retirement visa even I had all documents. This person I was about to call, was forced to help me a few years ago after an intervention of my lawyer's connection in higher up immigration... Evil lady then asked me, even I provided all documents, to hand write a paper that I wanted to switch to retirement... So what where all my bank deposit, tabien baan copies for ??? If you live in Samut Prakarn and you have to visit this hell hole, you might know who I am referring to... Incredible with all documentation, this ........ tried again to f my extension even with all documents provided...

sole custody... impossible in thailand as a judge will always rule for shared, in the benefit of the kids... but as no marriage, no judge either... bad lawyers might offer to try for lots of money, wasted... they want to be paid in gold... 100k for a petition pf one page, to the court when my ex did not respect the agreement, with off course, ZERO promises for success... and you pay in advance... you have money? 1 million for 20 years seems and ok deal, to be able to stay in Thailand, near your children and try to build a relationship again unless the ex does not want and pulls a restrain order against you or pay some dudes in the village where your child lives, to interfere... she might not send money to support her child, but she might pay for the above... I could not use money with my ex to get anything done, as she had plenty herself and her main goal was to try to interfere contact with my child in any way possible...
