Revisiting History: The Unlikely Campaign to Vilify Winston Churchill
Cameroni replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Why would Hitler busy himself with what government Britain has? What difference would it make to him? Sure, he did not like democracy, but why would he care what system the UK has, or what gov ernment? There was no underlying animosity in ideological terms between Nazism and British Imperialism that reached the same degree as the animosity between Nazism and Communism. Germany would have had the colonies in the East, the British would have had their Empire. There's not even geographic competition between the two. -

What makes you say that? -
What made me laugh was Kamala Harris tearfully pearl clutching "and working women have to go on a plane and sit next to strangers!!" Imagine the horror of having to sit next to strangers on the plane! Lol. Goes to show how far removed these people are from the real world. I suppose flying tax payer funded planes Kamala Harris doesn't have to sit next to stangers anymore when she flies.

Yes, the behaviour of the moderators was shamelessly one-sided and designed to embarass Trump and aid Harris. Most people would have noticed that.

No, that's not the case. If he were only concerned about the UK, he could have had peace in 1940 and know the UK would be able to have peace. “Imperialism was Churchill’s true religion,” and inevitably this came with “a belief in and promotion of racial and civilisational superiority.” For Churchill, the empire was the “prism” through which he saw “almost everything else at home and abroad.” Indeed, as Ali sums him up, Churchill “was, above all, an imperial activist,” someone who “wanted to fight, to kill and, if necessary to die for . . . the British Empire.” Needless to say, the realities of colonial warfare were such that killing was much more likely than dying. While the centrality of Churchill’s imperialist politics cannot be doubted for even a moment, he was also very much concerned with how the glory of empire could be used to glorify and immortalize himself. https://catalyst-journal.com/2022/09/the-spirit-of-churchill-elitism-and-british-empire#:~:text=As Ali insists%2C “Imperialism was,up%2C Churchill “was%2C above -
Whether they did or didn't is immaterial, this was a mistake by Trump. Immigrants committ serious crimes, there was no need to talk about pet eating. Whilst he's a showman, he should have known better to stick to verifiable info, even if Musk and Facebook published it, it was not a good idea to run with that without verifying it.

Revisiting History: The Unlikely Campaign to Vilify Winston Churchill

I don't see why you would be struggling. The point made was very clear: Churchill wanted to retain the Empire. Germany offered a peace that would have allowed him to keep it. However, Churchill decided not to take the offer and as a consequence lost the Empire. Whether Hitler would have gone to war with Britain and the empire is another question, but looking at what Britain had to offer in terms of resources and living space, it's unlikely he would have invaded Britain. For what gain? He saw the Empire as a bulwark against Communism, that was Hitler's real fear. And Churchill too feared the communists. -
The media can say what it likes. We know why they do it. We saw the debate. And it is very clear that Harris did not win. There were numerous media reports that Hitler was a wonderful man in Germany prior to 1933. However, you can't always trust media reports. It was the same in 2016 when the mainstream media said Trump had lost all three debates against Clinton, yet Trump went on to win.

I think you're trying to misrepresent my words and you're not succeeding very well. What I said was very clear, that Churchill wanted to retain the empire. Since he lost the emire by fighting Germany, his only real chance to retain it would have been to accept Germany's peace offer. The two were linked, because the reason he opposed Germany so early on was that Churchill saw Germany as a threat to the empire. The empire was his big love, and Germany was his big hate because it endangered the empire in his mind. But he lost it fighting Germany. Had he accepted the peace offer, perhaps he would have kept it for longer. -
I really don't think so. She looks to be running out of steam.
-
Of course not, because they both want to borrow like crazy to pay for their handouts and bribes to the electorate, lol.

I do think he edged it, that he won certain exchanges. But I'm open to persuasion if you have any particular exchanges that Harris won? It was a bit to digest really.

I don't think it's "mind reading" that's required to say that Churchill wanted to retain the empire. That is indeed part of the written and spoken record. -

No it's true. The civilian death toll in Japan from Allied bombing was between 330,000 and 900,000 with an additional 112,000 killed from the atomic bombs. https://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/COMM.10.5.03.HTM#:~:text=The civilian death toll in,Air Force crewmen were killed. -

Yes, a very nice anecdote by none less than Orson Welles, thanks for posting that. Though I suspect being a member of the nobility, having a spanking hourse and title didn't hurt his chances to make friends. Overall though Churchill did have an amazing life, he built walls, painted, wrote, went on adventures, engaged in journalism. I don't buy Cooper's take that he was weird and childish, even if he did play with tin soldiers. A remarkable man obviously. -

Firstly, whether Churchill made the correct "moral" decision largely depends on perspective. If you are jewish or British then of course yes, but if you are Japanese, German, then not really, because after the war 1.7 million Germans died in the ethnic cleansing of 14 million Germans, 900000 Japanese civilians were murdered in carpet bombings. This just depends on perspective. Indeed, it would have been a Nazi led Europe, but Britain would have retained her empire, and that would have been her only option to retain her empire. That's really what Churchill wanted. Had he been a more insightful politician he would have understood this, and that fighting Germany was precisely going to achieve the opposite of what he wanted, to save the Empire. -
Yeah, thanks, I looked at the transcript, this was about Harris supporting Israel. She did not win that exchange. Everyone knows she supported Palestinians and her protestations about Israel did indeed look week. Trump retorted that Putin endorsed Harris. I don't see that as win for Harris. Any others?

I thought you might have. The proof is of course that Churchill was opposed to Nazi Germany as early as 1933. Long, long before he would have known anything about the holocaust. -

Some of the plans called for resettlement of the Slavs in other parts of Eastern Europe. Deportations, rather than killings. -
That was more Trump making a silly mistake. I mean like a real argument about policy, was there one that Harris actually won? Any particular exchange?

That was after Britain had already declared war on Germany. Of course that determined the later confrontation. -

They would have done that of course. Generalplan Ost was several plans though, by several agencies, many competing with each other. So it's not clear which version would have prevailed. -
She did seem very scripted. I just wish Trump had been more scripted and hadn't talked about pet eating.

Can I just ask: Does anyone remember seeing Harris win any of the arguments/exchanges? Like when Trump responded at the very end to Kamala saying I will do this and I will do that and Trump replied "So, she just started by saying she's going to do this, she's going to do that, she's going to do all these wonderful things. Why hasn't she done it? She's been there for 3 1/2 years. They've had 3 1/2 years to fix the border. They've had 3 1/2 years to create jobs and all the things we talked about. Why hasn't she done it? She should leave right now, go down to that beautiful white house, go to the capitol, get everyone together and do the things you want to do. But you haven't done it. And you won't do it.". That was clearly a case of Trump winning an argument/exchange. Were there any where Harris won?
