Sirilapas Kongtrakarn: The beauty queen who battled depression to become Thailand’s mental health champion
I wish her luck, but the majority of dinosaurs (MP's) in parliament are only worried about filling their pockets with cash, nothing more.

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
Nothing, but with Jan 1st here, we are required to deal with it, if we like it or not. I don't want to break the rules, which is why I am not happy about having to deal with it. For now I understand it to mean money remitted, so I won't remit anything this year, this way I can see what others deal with when they file their taxes in 2025 for the year 2024.

Thai online vendors required to file taxes from 2024 as new directive kicks in
Anyone want to bet on how many will voluntarily sign up for taxes? I'm going with about 5%

How “peacemaker” Thaksin is stirring up Thai politics
He is a pig, no different then Prawit/Prayut/Thamanat, just another Elite (Junta Sympathizer) hiding in a suit pretending to be the savior of Thailand while wallowing at the corruption trough. He should be lingering in a jail cell like any other common prisoner, then maybe he would truly understand the average Thai persons life. He and his charade prison sentence are just symbols of everything that is wrong in Thailand. I wouldn't spit on him or his cohorts if they were on fire, let alone give him a nice pampered suite in a 5 star RTP hospital.

Thailand to abolish hefty import tariff on wine
I think a simple Australian Shiraz cost me 900 baht a few weeks ago. Haven't found any higher end Port wines yet, would like to find one that isn't ridiculously priced though.

How “peacemaker” Thaksin is stirring up Thai politics
The only thing he will foster is a civil war, they should have never let him come back, especially with this joke of justice portrayal. His so called imprisonment is just a reminder of how the Elite are immune from true justice, while poor peasants linger in a real jail environment for much pettier offenses.

Suvarnabhumi Automated Passport Gates Not Available for Visa Holders with Re-Entry Permits?
So, if we have a Visa Extension (Non-O marriage), we are to avoid the automated channel gates if we are using a reentry permit? I'll be leaving for the US in April and returning in May, so definitely interested in what the consensus is on this. I've only left once in the last 7 years, and I can't remember the procedure heading out, but will make sure I take it slowly as I go through the exit process.

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
The one thing I hate more than anything else is preparing taxes, I would rather die then even deal with it. I had to tell my US tax preparer "whatever you do, make sure I never have to deal with an IRS agent at my door", basically I told her not to go after every penny by using any questionable schemes. So not happy about being forced to deal with the Thai system now, sick of it all.

90 day if leaving the country
II think I'm just going to do my 90 day tomorrow, then again a week before I leave in April.....not worth the risk of something being questioned. It's an easy quick drive and only takes a few minutes to do. Thanks guys!

90 day if leaving the country
If I have a 90 day due just before I leave (returning via reentry permit), and say the plane leaves 4 days after it's due, can I just ignore the 90 day and leave, or should I get the 90 done before I exit? Not sure if it's an issue.

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
I got that exact question from them on my last extension, I had one Million baht in a Thai savings account (Non-O Marriage situation), and the IO wanted to know about what money I was living on, as I am not employed, or technically retired. My wife told the IO officer I was living off savings and investments abroad, eventually they dropped the questioning.

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
So, basically it's "last in, first out".

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
Yes, but why deal with taxes in two different countries? Just move back home and deal with taxes in your home country, less hassle. Plus, I know my wife does her taxes before I do mine in the US, how exactly are we going to time this tax obligation in two countries?

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
I will have at least a year or two more to worry about it, I won't be sending anything here this year, we'll see what tax nightmares await other filers before I send money again.

Thailand Sets Up Emergency Center for Impending Haze Crisis
So we wait until its humid and hotter than hell to go outside, sounds like a great plan.

New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
What it will do, is make a good portion of expats leave to live elsewhere. Hopefully they make enough off taxes on Thai HI-SO's hiding money abroad, as they won't be ablet to leave so easily.
-
Thailand Sets Up Emergency Center for Impending Haze Crisis
Setup a new agency that has a big budget to plunder, and say they will do something, but actually do nothing. How very Thai of them, however, there should be plenty of higher ups ready to step up to the trough.
-
New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
If that is true, then there is almost no way to quantify or keep track of "first in last out", so the logical assumption would be they would have to handle savings accounts as "last in first out". The only other option would be to abandon the remitted money only approach and go with a tax on all worldwide income, regardless if it is remitted or not.
-
New tax era in Thailand begins as Revenue now shares data with 138 countries within the OECD
That's pretty much what I asked above, not sure how they are going to do this. Either they have to abandon the remitted only approach and tax all income made worldwide, or create an almost impossible way to handle this scenario. Like you you hinted though, they could just consider taxing all our remittance as last in first out.

Can Thailand detonate the baby boom it needs as retirement time bomb looms?
Well they could make porn legal, and condoms illegal, and keep bars open 24/7. It will work like magic!
