  1. a painfully embarrassed facial expression by the wife/girlfriend - an altogether embarrassing situation for all people in vicinity.

Sorry ColPyat, but I have to against you on this one, do you in you wildest dreams think that Thai people give a hoot about some Farang walking with a young Thai woman?

Farangs are judgemental, Thai's don't really give a toss.

Why would you feel embarrassed about a total stranger and his partner anyway? :o

  2. ....does that answer my question??? Well not really ......... a few have been banned.... so what???

    A few ?

This Forum must be one of the most policed Forums on the internet, I'm not sayin' it's a bad thing, but there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

Threads are closed willy nilly, and I really dismay when certain people close threads cos they deem them to be controversial, the fact that a man has a relationship with anothther man seems pretty controversial to me, well it would if you ever tried to coerse my Son into unatural behaviour, I would rip your head off.

    Just my opinion.

    .Krav Maga.

  3. Sat here in BKK , but I'd love to be back in my home home county of Cornwall, UK having a beer and a pasty in my local this evening. :o

I would love to have a Pasty with you, Devon and Cornwell are great, I spent my last year at school in Brixham Devon.

I was in the British Seamans Boys Home in Brixham. BSBH Brixham.

  4. Starbucks in Isaan is pretty amazing. Could it also be classed as a shame? (same category as 7/11s, Subways and other "seen everywhere and bored of them" chains). However, relatively speaking, there is money in Nong Khai as there is in Udon. Two up and coming cities.

Sidetracking, but best coffee I've had so far has been in Scoozi. Starbucks is only good for the comfy chairs, magazine reading and people watching. I only buy a coffee there when I'm bored. Their food is even worse.

So Nong Khai and Udon have a place in society, given by TV members, they should feel fortunate, it's really amusing when reality bites

  5. Seems to me that people who critisize such unions are just envious and stumped as to why that relationship works, when theirs does not.

Or they're just a little short on brains, quite honestly.

Anyone who feels they have to judge two adult strangers who are posing no threat and are not interfering with him/her, or feels 'embarrassed' by them, surely needs to get a life of their own.

    Well said,

Sure, and why should a guy who has a wife or GF 30 years younger than him have to defend himself ?

I'm quite sure he knows all the ins and outs at his time of life, and he will do what he thinks is right for him, and other peoples opinions don't matter that much anyway, should he be miserable with a person his own age, or happy with a person of a different age?

As long as one's happy, what's the problem?

I always go back to the 60 + year old Rod Stewart factor, it seems as though the general public accept his 19 year old gf's as something that is his god given right.

Yet the lorry driver from Barnsley who has a young GF is seen as abnormal.

Envy is a word that springs to mind.

  6. Acceptable to society in general......................what a load of hogwash.

Humans are humans, is war acceptable, NO, but there is always one going on, are landmines acceptable, NO, but children are still getting their legs blown off daily in countries that have the landmine problem. These types of things should be unacceptable, but they are not.

Who cares if a guy is 50 and his wife is 25, do you ?

Do you care if 62 year old Rod Stewart has a 19 year old GF?

My Father married for the 3rd time to a woman he met at work, she was 22 years younger than him, she was 1 year older than me.

They have been together for over 20 years and are very happy.

Seems to me that people who critisize such unions are just envious and stumped as to why that relationship works, when theirs does not.

If it works, don't try to fix it.

  7. Khon Kaen is quite a busy city, good hotels, Sofitel and Kosa, plus many good budget places.

Sofitel is not really a budget hotel, I paid 2300 Baht there 4 years ago, but it's very nice.

My little sis is at the North Eastern School of Technology in Khon Kaen and I think KK is OK ! :o

Yes, I've seen many Farangs walking around Big C and Lotus, also Home Pro etc, go into MK Suki of a weekend and you will see many more.

I think many Farangs move out of Bkk and Pattaya eventually when they become bored with the scene there and sick to death of traffic problems and crime. KK is as good as anywhere for good value housing, decent, if not good shopping, and a reasonably stress free lifestyle.

  8. By the way, thanks for pointing out that series 7 of Trailer Park Boys is available. I have the first 6 but haven't watched Bubbles and the boys for a while, so they sort of slipped my mind.

Series 7 looks like it's the last of The Trailer Park Boys. :o

  9. Would not think so, as there so crap, they only sell because there Toyota…..

You even have to buy the bumper as ‘extras’

My next door neighbour has a new one, says his 12yr old Ford was a much better ride…

A few I know that have them, ALL say there top heavy, to soft. cornering is very bad, brakes hopless

So what you are saying is, that your neighbour's 12 Year old Ford Pick up was a better ride than a 2007 Toyota Vigo Pick up, according to him, why on earth did he buy a Vigo then, didn't he test drive before buying?

He sounds almost as crazy as his next door neighbour. :o

  10. Theres another Fortuner Driver who drives like a lunatic, why is this? what is it with this car that makes people drive like lunatics?

Nothing to do with the Fortuner, when I had a 735i BMW in UK I would go flat out on the Motorway, pre speed camera days.

I had a race with a Renault 5 GT Turbo on the Motorway too, I was flashing him to get out of my way doing 120 MPH

I drove it in France on the Auroroute and had a race with a Belgian guy in a Mercedes, we was flying and I was going as fast as that car could go, and that car could go well! I crept past him eventually. :o

I know, I am gonna get slated for this by all the nancy boy do gooder law abiding Honda wave riding members here, but hey, I was young, remember that do you ?

  11. You can't defend them so you change the subject. :D

Sounds more like you can't answer a simple question. What are you afraid of? Failed life back home? Bitter because you haven't done any better here?

Moderators should really refrain from acting like a dick.

    I agree. :o

Looks like this Unknown Poster is one of the legion of the Banned.

  12. I went into a 7Eleven in Thailand and was given 750 Baht Change from the 500 Baht note I had handed over, my purchase was 150 baht, it should have been 350, but she mistakenly gave me a 500 Baht note and 2 x 100 Baht + 50 Baht.

I stood there and asked her if my change was right, she could see no problem, I pointed out that she had given me 400 Baht too much.....................She was really happy and very appreciative, she would have had to make up the shortage out of her own money.

Many times in Thailand I have been given too much money in the change, does that mean that ALL Thai's give money away to Farangs ?

It's just a mistake, same as it's a mistake in any country in the world, yes, even Farang countries!

  13. Judging by your avatar, Maigo6, I'd say you were also a fan of the Canadian production, Trailer Park Boys. As you probably know, your avatar shows, Mike Smith, who plays "Bubbles" in that series. I don't think this show is everybody's cup of tea, but I like it and recommend it to those who like stuff that's a little "off the wall".

Trailer Park Boys is also excellent, I have all 7 series. Jim Lahey, Randy, Julian, Ricky, Bubbles......great characters , great series. The comedy is nothing like American humour, much more like Brit or Aussie.

I know it's Canadian, I just never knew they had such a great sense of humour, American humour never makes me laugh, Trailer Park Boys does make me laugh.

    I liked Sopranos too.

The Singing Detective is also a classic.

    The Young Ones also Classic.

Try, "Takin' over the asylum", it's a Scottish production, excellent.

  14. With your avatar behind the wheel you wouldn't even be able to handle min. speed.

    Nice one Ray. :o

I was stopped in Isaan and the cops said I must have been going at 120 KPH, I said they were wrong, I was doing 170 KPH.

100 baht and a salute later, I was on my merry way.

People moan about Police corruption, but I would have lost my license in many countries, here it cost me 100 Baht. Good innit !

    Good for you Ray.

  15. hi to all ,

( sorry if my spelling of topic is wrong )

can any 1 tell me how many km per lt . i should get from my pick up , its a nissan navana 4 door , only just done 2000km , i only drive on express way from home to udon , at about 100km / hour . i,m getting just about 18km/per lt.

    thanks for any info ....martyn.

Sounds good to me, my Fortuner will give me 12.8 km/ltr on a run, but when I drive like a lunatic, I have been down to 10.8 km/ltr.

    Wish I could get 18Kms/ltr!

  16. Well that maybe correct about HK airport but my favourite is still Changi.Hong Kong airport lacks character.

Really, what "character" you want? A sandstone building with statues of lions?

Cnangi and Hong Kong kick ass of Ohare and Heathrow. Possibly, of any western inefficient and trade unions laden pits.

I know where he's coming from @ Think Too Mut...................

I think what it is, is that Changi Airport seems kinda small and comfortable, Hong Kong Feels kinda Huge and impersonal, don't get me wrong, when I was flying Cathay Pacific to Tokyo I had a Ruby card that allowed me access to the lounges, and they are very good indeed, Cathay Pacific is a great Airline.

But......................Compare it with Singapore Airlines Business class' seat or lounge at home port, Singapore Airlines wins by a head, both very very good, but SQ.................something special.

  17. I was wondering if fellow members here can give some recommendations for TV series / Movies etc that are available P2P...

I have lots of recommendations, but fear that Thai Visa does not allow people to talk about that on the computer and tech forum.

I will give you 2 before they close the thread.

    HBO, The Corner.

    BBC, Life on Mars.

    C'mon lads, more recommendations please.

  18. Same thing I did with those damm Sopranos. 6 years worth. Nobody saw me for two weeks.

Yeah, but what a dissapointing ending, did Tony get whacked or didn't he?

    Nobody knows!!!

I have the whole series for start to finish, I downloaded the final parts from the internet, great series, dissapointing end, but 9.9 / 10 for the Sopranos.

  19. Changi Airport Singapore.

    Totally agree.

    Hi Mr Toad,

I always liked Changi Airport, then last year 24th December I had to do a Visa run, I had loads of air miles to use so I went Business Class Bkk-Sin-Bkk on Singapore Airlines.

Well, the service was out of this world, the Singapore Airlines business class lounge in Changi airport is fantastic, and I was treated like a VIP on my return flight to Bkk, I know it was Christmas and they had decorations up in the cabin, but that type of service................just don't expect it.

    Singapore Airlines......................Great Airline.

    Changi Airport Singapore..........Great Airport.

    :o
