Do those f%@x#'rs in the PCX shops not know the rules and be able to guide a buyer ? Guess their goal is only to sell and up to the buyer to handle all the bureaucratic harassment towards their foreign guests.

On reading all the comments the conclusion seems obvious. Thailand really does not want farangs to live on long term in their country.

Cambodia seems far better choice then Thailand and totally hassle free for all visa related matters.

Could be some sort of parasite or insect. Check in the local garden store.

Oh man !!! on reading your post I just realised that Thailand will soon be a story of the past, and I rather put in my forthcomming retirement money in a few years, in another Asian country that does not make so much immigration trouble for the quality retirees as yourself !

He definately will not have the same immigration harassment as we do on retirement.
